Are you studying to gain titles and degrees and widow's mite-depleting "pay packages" and to be called by various honorific appellations or are you studying to show yourself approved because you know that your soul hangs on the grace of G-d and the inerrancy of the Bible and you know you must have the accreditation of signs and wonders in order to do dangerous and sacrificial and selfless street ministry to G-d's people and all unreached peoples outside the Kehillah of Hashem? The Pharisees loved the supposed safety zone of money and chief seats and titles and the praise of men and their so called "knowledge" and letters of recommendation attesting their academic pedigree, and they loved their proud teachers and traditions. But they refused to have anything to do with suffering for the sake of preaching the message of salvation in hard places. The Pharisees had been certified by Pilate's State Department of Education as being "no threat to Pilate" in their "accredited by men" schools (yeshivas), but the schools of the Pharisees were "non-accredited" as far as Mk 16:15-20 and G-d were concerned. The Pharisees were like Judas because they loved the praise of men and money more than Moshiach Ben Dovid. The Pharisees were like those today who have cashed in and traded off for thirty pieces of filthy lucre silver the Adon Kol HaAretz. The Pharisees were like those today who have cashed in and traded off Azuza Street for delegations at political confabs and for red neck by-laws and for political alliances with paper pushers in chief seats. The Pharisees were like those hypocrites (Mt 6:5-6) today who have cashed in and traded off holy intimate fellowship with the holy Avinu Atik Yomin in exchange for what? Let me go on. The Pharisees were like those today who have cashed in and traded off the fellowship of the yissurim (sufferings) of the holy Bar Enosh in exchange for what? The Pharisees were like those today who have cashed in and traded off Pentecostal street preaching in Hasidic neighborhoods for Freudian psychology and upwardly mobile academia and other such worldly impoverishments. Then as now the Pharisees shunned the preaching in hard places. Notice their critical by-stander status as Yochanan of the tevilah of teshuva preaches in the wilderness (Mt 3:7). His neck, not theirs, (they think) is at risk as Yochanan preaches at the Jordan, but they are in danger of something worse, the wrath of G-d because they are preachers who have cashed in intimate knowledge of the Atik Yomin and knowledge of the will of the Father (Mt 7:21-23). For what? Today the Pharisees shun the street preaching and the tarrying for empowerment (Lk 24:49) needed to stand for the L-rd and preach in hard and dangerous places. (Beware of the swelling proud leaven of the Pharisees (Mt 16:6)! Remember that the unrepentant Pharisees went to hell (Mt 5:20). Also, when you think you have identified all the Pharisees, don't forget that you too have a Pharisaic dark side yourself that could easily become an accomplice to Satan. (This calls for repentance and humility.) It is important to study to show yourself approved as a prayer warrior and to know that you are an "under grace" believer, but at the same time, for the sake of the salvation of the Jewish People and the hastening of the Bias HaMoshiach, the Coming of the Moshiach, it is also important to understand the truth of the Jewish Scriptures.



Someone might say, "Okay, the school is free and you get to study with Dr Goble, but, well, look, you get what you pay for, so what is the AFI Institute diploma really worth? And, okay, there is a Jewish area here where I live, but do I see myself taking a course part of which has me going down there and handing out something like this? Or studying Hebrew and making a sign of these Hebrew words and going to a Russian-speaking area? Is that me?" Someone might say, "Look, this Dr. Phil Goble has spent thirty-six years preaching on the street in California, Florida, England, New York City, and other places in Jewish neighborhoods, starting with the Open Air Campaigners in 1971. What has it got him? A bunch of tracts? A Bible he translated? A film about Paul? What's that? He's just a street preacher. He's just a voice crying out in the wilderness. What is this cyber school anyway... A VOICE CRYING OUT IN THE WILDERNESS BIBLE SCHOOL? What do they offer, anyway, A VOICE CRYING OUT IN THE WILDERNESS street preaching certification? Is this school a fraud? A diploma mill? What will this diploma get me? What kind of future will it insure me? What kind of security? He hasn't got any money in his personal savings account. He has no houses and lands and antique cars and villas and summer homes. Who needs that?"


Yes, the Pharisee inside you will say that, but the Holy Spirit may beg to differ.

The Bible says that even preachers (Jonah 1:2-3) are running from G-d. So, indeed now, what makes you think that the people out there on the street who are running from G-d will come to your meeting and you won't have to take your meeting to them? And if you take your meeting to them and go to the street, how will they hear without a street preacher? (Ro 10:14). And how will they have a street preacher unless that street preacher is sent ( Ro 10:15). And how indeed can you be so certain that G-d is not using the Internet and even this web page to equip and send street preachers? Unreached people like ultra-Orthodox Jews will not attend your congregation, for the most part, so how will they hear unless a street preacher goes to them?

You say, "This is all well and good. But I can't learn how to start a messianic synagogue or a messianic yeshiva and I'm not a fire-brand street preacher so this particular Messianic Bible school may be fine but it's not for me." Wait. Can you find a street corner near a bus stop or a busy shopping area where not only non-Jews but also Jewish people are walking by? Can you set up a little card table or tiny tv tray table and put a few copies of this and this and this and this on the table? I guarantee you that, if you will pray, all you will have to do is stand there for a short time and when a Jewish person walks by and sees the Hebrew letters on the papers, then curiosity will take over and you will have yourself a messianic synagogue opportunity and a messianic yeshiva discussion in no time at all. The Scripture says that "My people perish" because of a "famine of hearing the word of G-d." And it says to go to the lost sheep of the House of Israel and "Go to the highways and byways and compel them to come in." Don't agree? Read this. Still scared? Read this and remember that the vast majority of religious Jews would rather be found dead than attend a messianic congregation. However, many will be curious about what they see and hear on the street as they pass by. This is why, if you think street preaching and street ministry are a negligible part of Jewish ministry and need no emphasis in a messianic bible school or yeshiva, you couldn't be more wrong. Read this again. And don't forget to preach to the Gentiles, even in the homeless shelter or any other door G-d opens for you. If your ministry is too good to get its hands dirty with homeless ministry, it may be on the way out. The demands of the ministry caused Yeshua and all his disciples to be virtually homeless, so what are modern preachers doing despising street preaching and homeless shelter preaching and instead building well panelled houses for themselves while G-d's House lies in ruins?

In every generation, the question is always the same: will Elisha get a double portion of the spirit of Elijah and continue Elijah's work? Or, since apostate false prophets of Baal have to be confronted IN EVERY GENERATION at all costs, will the NEXT generation lack an Elisha so that the false prophets are not confronted and apostasy takes over? If that happens, then there is a falling away with no 1Kgs 18 restoration of the Mizbeach (Altar) of worshiping G-d in Spirit and in Truth. But a messianic Bible School is a chevel (company, band) of bnei hanevi'im. If these bnei hanevi'im watch their life and doctrine closely they will save both themselves and those who hear their preaching. But, above all, they must keep themselves in the love of G-d in an aliyyah of heart devotion that refuses to succomb to the fear of men and the Jezebel apostasy of the last days. (The Bible does not say to guard your money or to guard your health --the Bible says to guard your heart!) The whole life cycle of such a preacher in such a messianic Bible school as we are describing here is found from 1Kgs 17:1 to 2 Kgs2:11, but we must not boast in that preacher, only in the L-rd (see 1Co 3:21).
