לְמוֹאָ֡ב SDBH Concerning Moab כֹּֽה־ this is what אָמַר֩ SDBH says יְהוָ֨ה SDBH Hashem/Adonoi צְבָא֜וֹת SDBH of Hosts אֱלֹהֵ֣י SDBH the G-d יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל SDBH of Israel ה֤וֹי SDBH Woe אֶל־ to נְבוֹ֙ SDBH Nebo כִּ֣י for שֻׁדָּ֔דָה SDBH it will be devastated הֹבִ֥ישָׁה SDBH and disgraced נִלְכְּדָ֖ה SDBH will be captured קִרְיָתָ֑יִם SDBH Kiriathaim הֹבִ֥ישָׁה SDBH and dismantled הַמִּשְׂגָּ֖ב SDBH the fortress וָחָֽתָּה׃ SDBH will be shattered

Against Moav thus saith Hashem Tzva'os Elohei Yisroel: Hoy (woe, doom) unto Nevo! For it is made havoc; Kiryatayim is shamed and captured; Misgav is shamed and dismayed.

אֵ֣ין SDBH There is no עוֹד֮ longer תְּהִלַּ֣ת SDBH praise מוֹאָב֒ SDBH for Moab בְּחֶשְׁבּ֗וֹן SDBH in Heshbon חָשְׁב֤וּ SDBH they devise עָלֶ֙יהָ֙ against her רָעָ֔ה SDBH evil לְכ֖וּ SDBH Come וְנַכְרִיתֶ֣נָּה SDBH let us cut her off מִגּ֑וֹי SDBH from nationhood גַּם־ SDBH You too מַדְמֵ֣ן SDBH O [people of] Madmen תִּדֹּ֔מִּי SDBH will be silenced אַחֲרַ֖יִךְ SDBH will pursue תֵּ֥לֶךְ SDBH you חָֽרֶב׃ SDBH the sword

There shall be no more tehillah (praise) of Moav; in Cheshbon they have plotted ra'ah against it; come, and let us cut it off from being a nation. Also thou shalt be silenced, O Madmein; the cherev shall pursue thee.

ק֥וֹל SDBH A voice צְעָקָ֖ה SDBH cries out מֵחֹֽרוֹנָ֑יִם SDBH from Horonaim שֹׁ֖ד SDBH Devastation וָשֶׁ֥בֶר SDBH destruction גָּדֽוֹל׃ SDBH and great

A voice of crying shall be from Choronayim, havoc and shever gadol (great destruction).

נִשְׁבְּרָ֖ה SDBH will be shattered מוֹאָ֑ב SDBH Moab הִשְׁמִ֥יעוּ SDBH . . . זְּעָקָ֖ה SDBH ones will cry out צְעוֹרֶיהָ׃ SDBH her little

Moav is destroyed; her little ones have caused a cry to be heard.

כִּ֚י For מַעֲלֵ֣ה SDBH on the ascent הַלֻּחוֹת SDBH to Luhith בִּבְכִ֖י SDBH bitterly יַֽעֲלֶה־ SDBH as they go בֶּ֑כִי SDBH they weep כִּ֚י and בְּמוֹרַ֣ד SDBH on the descent חוֹרֹנַ֔יִם SDBH to Horonaim צָרֵ֥י SDBH of distress צַֽעֲקַת־ SDBH cries שֶׁ֖בֶר SDBH over the destruction שָׁמֵֽעוּ׃ SDBH resound

For in the Ascent of Luchit continual weeping shall go up; for in the descent of Choronayim the anguished ones have heard a cry of shever (destruction).

נֻ֖סוּ SDBH Flee מַלְּט֣וּ SDBH Run נַפְשְׁכֶ֑ם SDBH for your lives וְתִֽהְיֶ֕ינָה Become כַּעֲרוֹעֵ֖ר SDBH like a juniper בַּמִּדְבָּֽר׃ SDBH in the desert

Flee, save your nefesh, and be like Aroer in the midbar.

7

כִּ֠י - יַ֣עַן SDBH Because בִּטְחֵ֤ךְ SDBH you trust בְּמַעֲשַׂ֙יִךְ֙ SDBH in your works וּבְא֣וֹצְרוֹתַ֔יִךְ SDBH and treasures גַּם־ SDBH too אַ֖תְּ SDBH you תִּלָּכֵ֑דִי SDBH will be captured וְיָצָ֤א SDBH will go כְמִישׁ SDBH and Chemosh בַּגּוֹלָ֔ה SDBH into exile כֹּהֲנָ֥יו SDBH his priests וְשָׂרָ֖יו SDBH and officials יַחַד׃ SDBH with

For because thou hast trusted in thy ma'asim (works) and in thy otzarot, thou shalt also be captured; and Chemosh shall go forth into Golus with his kohanim and his sarim together.

8

וְיָבֹ֨א SDBH will move שֹׁדֵ֜ד SDBH The destroyer אֶל־ against כָּל־ every עִ֗יר SDBH city וְעִיר֙ SDBH one town לֹ֣א SDBH and not תִמָּלֵ֔ט SDBH will escape וְאָבַ֥ד SDBH will also be ruined הָעֵ֖מֶק SDBH The valley וְנִשְׁמַ֣ד SDBH will be destroyed הַמִּישֹׁ֑ר SDBH and the high plain אֲשֶׁ֖ר SDBH as אָמַ֥ר SDBH has said יְהוָֽה׃ SDBH Hashem/Adonoi

And the destroyer shall come upon every city, and no city shall escape: the emek (valley) also shall perish, and the plain shall be shmad (destroyed), as Hashem hath spoken.

תְּנוּ־ Put צִ֣יץ SDBH salt לְמוֹאָ֔ב SDBH on Moab כִּ֥י for נָצֹ֖א SDBH she will be laid waste תֵּצֵ֑א SDBH . . . וְעָרֶ֙יהָ֙ SDBH her cities לְשַׁמָּ֣ה SDBH desolate תִֽהְיֶ֔ינָה will become מֵאֵ֥ין SDBH with no one יוֹשֵׁ֖ב SDBH to dwell בָּהֵֽן׃ in them

Give wings unto Moav, that it may flee and get away; for the towns thereof shall be desolate, without any to dwell therein.

אָר֗וּר SDBH Cursed [is the one] עֹשֶׂ֛ה SDBH in doing מְלֶ֥אכֶת SDBH the work יְהוָ֖ה SDBH Hashem/Adonoi רְמִיָּ֑ה SDBH who is remiss וְאָר֕וּר SDBH and cursed is מֹנֵ֥עַ SDBH he who withholds חַרְבּ֖וֹ SDBH his sword מִדָּֽם׃ SDBH from bloodshed

Cursed be he that doeth the work of Hashem remiyyah (deceitfully), and cursed be he that keepeth back his cherev from bloodshed.

שַׁאֲנַ֨ן SDBH has been at ease מוֹאָ֜ב SDBH Moab מִנְּעוּרָ֗יו SDBH from youth וְשֹׁקֵ֥ט SDBH settled הוּא֙ SDBH . . . אֶל־ like wine שְׁמָרָ֔יו SDBH on its dregs וְלֹֽא־ SDBH he has not הוּרַ֤ק SDBH been poured מִכְּלִי֙ SDBH from vessel אֶל־ to כֶּ֔לִי SDBH vessel וּבַגּוֹלָ֖ה SDBH into exile לֹ֣א SDBH [or] הָלָ֑ךְ SDBH gone עַל־ So כֵּ֗ן SDBH . . . עָמַ֤ד SDBH has remained the same טַעְמוֹ֙ SDBH his flavor בּ֔וֹ וְרֵיח֖וֹ SDBH and his aroma לֹ֥א SDBH vvv נָמָֽר׃ס SDBH is unchanged

Moav hath been at ease from his youth, and he hath settled on his wine dregs, and hath not been emptied from keli (vessel) to keli, neither hath he gone into Golus: therefore his taste remained in him, and his scent is not changed.

לָכֵ֞ן SDBH Therefore הִנֵּ֖ה־ behold יָמִ֤ים SDBH the days בָּאִים֙ SDBH are coming נְאֻם־ SDBH declares יְהוָ֔ה SDBH Hashem/Adonoi וְשִׁלַּחְתִּי־ SDBH when I will send ל֥וֹ to him צֹעִ֖ים SDBH wanderers וְצֵעֻ֑הוּ SDBH who will pour him out וְכֵלָ֣יו SDBH his vessels יָרִ֔יקוּ SDBH They will empty וְנִבְלֵיהֶ֖ם SDBH his jars יְנַפֵּֽצוּ׃ SDBH and shatter

But, hinei, the days come, saith Hashem, that I will send unto him wine pourers, that shall pour him out, and shall empty his kelim (vessels), and smash their jars.

13

וּבֹ֥שׁ SDBH will be ashamed מוֹאָ֖ב SDBH Then Moab מִכְּמ֑וֹשׁ SDBH of Chemosh כַּאֲשֶׁר־ SDBH just as בֹּ֙שׁוּ֙ SDBH was ashamed בֵּ֣ית SDBH the house יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל SDBH of Israel מִבֵּ֥ית SDBH אֵ֖ל SDBH Bethel מִבְטֶחָֽם׃ SDBH when they trusted in

And Moav shall be ashamed of Chemosh, just as Bais Yisroel was ashamed of Beit-El, their confidence.

אֵ֚יךְ SDBH How תֹּֽאמְר֔וּ SDBH can you say גִּבּוֹרִ֖ים SDBH are warriors אֲנָ֑חְנוּ SDBH We וְאַנְשֵׁי־ SDBH men חַ֖יִל SDBH mighty לַמִּלְחָמָֽה׃ SDBH ready for battle

How say ye, We are gibborim and anshei chayil for the milchamah?

15

שֻׁדַּ֤ד SDBH has been destroyed מוֹאָב֙ SDBH Moab וְעָרֶ֣יהָ SDBH and its towns עָלָ֔ה SDBH have been invaded וּמִבְחַ֥ר SDBH the best בַּֽחוּרָ֖יו SDBH of its young men יָרְד֣וּ SDBH have gone down לַטָּ֑בַח SDBH in the slaughter נְאֻ֨ם־ SDBH declares הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ SDBH the King יְהוָ֥ה SDBH Hashem/Adonoi צְבָא֖וֹת SDBH of Hosts שְׁמֽוֹ׃ SDBH whose name

Moav is destroyed, and gone up out of her towns, and his chosen bochurim are gone down to the slaughter, saith HaMelech Hashem Tzva'os Shmo.

קָר֥וֹב SDBH is at hand אֵיד־ SDBH calamity מוֹאָ֖ב SDBH Moab’s לָב֑וֹא SDBH . . . וְרָ֣עָת֔וֹ SDBH and his affliction מִהֲרָ֖ה SDBH is rushing מְאֹֽד׃ swiftly

The calamity of Moav is near at hand, and his affliction hasteth fast.

17

נֻ֤דוּ SDBH Mourn לוֹ֙ for him כָּל־ all you סְבִיבָ֔יו who surround him וְכֹ֖ל everyone יֹדְעֵ֣י SDBH who knows שְׁמ֑וֹ SDBH his name אִמְר֗וּ SDBH tell אֵיכָ֤ה SDBH how נִשְׁבַּר֙ SDBH is shattered מַטֵּה־ SDBH scepter עֹ֔ז SDBH the mighty מַקֵּ֖ל SDBH staff תִּפְאָרָֽה׃ SDBH the glorious

All ye that are around him, bemoan him; and all ye that know shmo, say, How is the matteh oz (strong staff) broken, and the beautiful rod!

18

רְדִ֤י SDBH Come down מִכָּבוֹד֙ SDBH from your glory יֹשְׁבֶי SDBH sit בַצָּמָ֔א SDBH on parched ground יֹשֶׁ֖בֶת SDBH dwelling בַּת־ SDBH O daughter דִּיב֑וֹן SDBH in Dibon כִּֽי־ for שֹׁדֵ֤ד SDBH the destroyer מוֹאָב֙ SDBH of Moab עָ֣לָה SDBH has come בָ֔ךְ against you שִׁחֵ֖ת SDBH he has destroyed מִבְצָרָֽיִךְ׃ SDBH your fortresses

Thou Bat that dost inhabit Divon, come down from thy kavod, and sit on parched ground; for the plunderer of Moav shall come upon thee, and he shall destroy thy strongholds.

19

אֶל־ by דֶּ֛רֶךְ SDBH the road עִמְדִ֥י SDBH Stand וְצַפִּ֖י SDBH and watch יוֹשֶׁ֣בֶת SDBH O dweller עֲרוֹעֵ֑ר SDBH of Aroer שַׁאֲלִי־ SDBH Ask נָ֣ס SDBH the man fleeing וְנִמְלָ֔טָה SDBH or the woman escaping אִמְרִ֖י SDBH . . . מַה־ SDBH What נִּֽהְיָֽתָה׃ has happened

O inhabitant of Aroer, stand by the derech, and watch; ask him that fleeth, and her that escapeth, and say, What has happened?

20

הֹבִ֥ישׁ SDBH is put to shame מוֹאָ֛ב SDBH Moab כִּֽי־ for חַ֖תָּה SDBH it has been shattered הֵילִילִי SDBH Wail וּזְעָקִי SDBH and cry out הַגִּ֣ידוּ SDBH Declare בְאַרְנ֔וֹן SDBH by the Arnon כִּ֥י that שֻׁדַּ֖ד SDBH is destroyed מוֹאָֽב׃ SDBH Moab

Moav is shamed; for it is broken down: wail and cry out; tell ye it in Arnon, that Moav is destroyed,

21

וּמִשְׁפָּ֥ט SDBH Judgment בָּ֖א SDBH has come אֶל־ upon אֶ֣רֶץ SDBH vvv הַמִּישֹׁ֑ר SDBH the high plain אֶל־ upon חֹל֥וֹן SDBH Holon וְאֶל־ . . . יַ֖הְצָה SDBH Jahzah וְעַל־ and מוֹפָעַת׃ SDBH Mephaath

And mishpat is come upon the plain; upon Cholon, and upon Yahtzah, and upon Mepha'at,

22

וְעַל־ upon דִּיב֣וֹן SDBH Dibon וְעַל־ . . . נְב֔וֹ SDBH Nebo וְעַל־ and בֵּ֖ית SDBH vvv דִּבְלָתָֽיִם׃ SDBH Beth-diblathaim

And upon Divon, and upon Nevo, and upon BeitDivlatayim,

23

וְעַ֧ל upon קִרְיָתַ֛יִם SDBH Kiriathaim וְעַל־ . . . בֵּ֥ית SDBH vvv גָּמ֖וּל SDBH Beth-gamul וְעַל־ and בֵּ֥ית SDBH vvv מְעֽוֹן׃ SDBH Beth-meon

And upon Kiryatayim, and upon Beit-Gamul, and upon Beit-Me'on,

24

וְעַל־ upon קְרִיּ֖וֹת SDBH Kerioth וְעַל־ . . . בָּצְרָ֑ה SDBH Bozrah וְעַ֗ל . . . כָּל־ and all עָרֵי֙ SDBH the towns אֶ֣רֶץ SDBH vvv מוֹאָ֔ב SDBH of Moab הָרְחֹק֖וֹת SDBH those far וְהַקְּרֹבֽוֹת׃ SDBH and near

And upon Keriot, and upon Botzrah, and upon all the towns of Eretz Moav, far or near.

25

נִגְדְּעָה֙ SDBH has been cut off קֶ֣רֶן SDBH The horn מוֹאָ֔ב SDBH of Moab וּזְרֹע֖וֹ SDBH and his arm נִשְׁבָּ֑רָה SDBH is broken נְאֻ֖ם SDBH declares יְהוָֽה׃ SDBH Hashem/Adonoi

The keren of Moav is cut off, and his zero'a is broken, saith Hashem.

26

הַשְׁכִּירֻ֕הוּ SDBH Make him drunk כִּ֥י because עַל־ against יְהוָ֖ה SDBH Hashem/Adonoi הִגְדִּ֑יל SDBH he has magnified himself וְסָפַ֤ק SDBH will wallow מוֹאָב֙ SDBH so Moab בְּקִיא֔וֹ SDBH in his own vomit וְהָיָ֥ה become לִשְׂחֹ֖ק SDBH a laughingstock גַּם־ SDBH will also הֽוּא׃ SDBH and he

Make ye him drunken; for he magnified himself against Hashem; Moav also shall wallow in his vomit, and he also shall be in derision.

27

וְאִ֣ם׀ SDBH - ל֣וֹא SDBH not הַשְּׂחֹ֗ק SDBH object of ridicule הָיָ֤ה Was לְךָ֙ your יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל SDBH Israel אִם־ SDBH בְּגַנָּבִ֖ים SDBH - נִמְצָאָה SDBH Was he ever found [among thieves] כִּֽי־ For מִדֵּ֧י SDBH whenever דְבָרֶ֥יךָ SDBH you speak of him בּ֖וֹ תִּתְנוֹדָֽד׃ SDBH you shake your head

For was not Yisroel a derision unto thee? Was he found among ganavim (thieves)? For since thou spoke of him, thou dost scornful head wagging.

28

עִזְב֤וּ SDBH Abandon עָרִים֙ SDBH the towns וְשִׁכְנ֣וּ SDBH and settle בַּסֶּ֔לַע SDBH among the rocks יֹשְׁבֵ֖י SDBH O dwellers מוֹאָ֑ב SDBH of Moab וִֽהְי֣וּ Be כְיוֹנָ֔ה SDBH like a dove תְּקַנֵּ֖ן SDBH that nests בְּעֶבְרֵ֥י SDBH at פִי־ SDBH the mouth פָֽחַת׃ SDBH of a cave

O ye that dwell in Moav, leave the towns, and dwell in the rock, and be like the yonah that maketh her nest in the sides of the cave's mouth.

29

שָׁמַ֥עְנוּ SDBH We have heard גְאוֹן־ SDBH pomposity מוֹאָ֖ב SDBH of Moab’s גֵּאֶ֣ה SDBH pride מְאֹ֑ד his exceeding גָּבְה֧וֹ SDBH [and] conceit וּגְאוֹנ֛וֹ SDBH his proud וְגַאֲוָת֖וֹ SDBH arrogance וְרֻ֥ם SDBH and haughtiness לִבּֽוֹ׃ SDBH of heart

We have heard the ga'on Moav, (he is exceeding proud), his highmindedness, and his conceit, and his ga'avah, and the haughtiness of his lev.

30

אֲנִ֤י SDBH I יָדַ֙עְתִּי֙ SDBH know נְאֻם־ SDBH declares יְהוָ֔ה SDBH Hashem/Adonoi עֶבְרָת֖וֹ SDBH his insolence וְלֹא־ SDBH but it is futile כֵ֑ן SDBH . . . בַּדָּ֖יו SDBH His boasting לֹא־ SDBH is as empty כֵ֥ן SDBH as עָשֽׂוּ׃ SDBH his deeds

I know his insolence, saith Hashem; but it shall not be so; his boasts have made nothing right.

31

עַל־ Therefore כֵּן֙ SDBH . . . עַל־ for מוֹאָ֣ב SDBH Moab אֲיֵלִ֔יל SDBH I will wail וּלְמוֹאָ֥ב SDBH of Moab כֻּלֹּ֖ה for all אֶזְעָ֑ק SDBH I will cry out אֶל־ for אַנְשֵׁ֥י SDBH the men קִֽיר־ SDBH vvv חֶ֖רֶשׂ SDBH of Kir-heres יֶהְגֶּֽה׃ SDBH I will moan

Therefore will I wail for Moav, and I will cry out for all Moav; I shall moan for the anashim of Kir- Cheres.

32

מִבְּכִ֨י SDBH more than I weep יַעְזֵ֤ר SDBH for Jazer אֶבְכֶּה־ SDBH I will weep לָּךְ֙ for you הַגֶּ֣פֶן SDBH O vine שִׂבְמָ֔ה SDBH of Sibmah נְטִֽישֹׁתַ֙יִךְ֙ SDBH Your tendrils עָ֣בְרוּ SDBH have extended יָ֔ם SDBH to the sea עַ֛ד SDBH [even] to יָ֥ם SDBH - יַעְזֵ֖ר SDBH Jazer נָגָ֑עוּ SDBH they reach עַל־ on קֵיצֵ֥ךְ SDBH your summer fruit וְעַל־ . . . בְּצִירֵ֖ךְ SDBH and grape harvest שֹׁדֵ֥ד SDBH The destroyer נָפָֽל׃ SDBH has descended

O gefen (vine) of Sivmah, I will weep for thee with the weeping of Yazer; thy branches are spread over the yam, they reach even to the yam Yazer; the plunderer is fallen upon thy summer fruits and upon thy vintage.

33

וְנֶאֶסְפָ֨ה SDBH are removed שִׂמְחָ֥ה SDBH Joy וָגִ֛יל SDBH and gladness מִכַּרְמֶ֖ל SDBH from the orchard וּמֵאֶ֣רֶץ SDBH and from the fields מוֹאָ֑ב SDBH of Moab וְיַ֙יִן֙ SDBH the flow of wine מִיקָבִ֣ים SDBH from the presses הִשְׁבַּ֔תִּי SDBH I have stopped לֹֽא־ SDBH no one יִדְרֹ֣ךְ SDBH treads them הֵידָ֔ד SDBH with shouts of joy הֵידָ֖ד SDBH their shouts לֹ֥א SDBH are not הֵידָֽד׃ SDBH for joy

And simchah and gladness is taken from the carmel, and from Eretz Moav, and I have caused yayin to fail from the winepresses; none shall tread with shouting; their shouting shall not be [joyful] shouting.

34

מִזַּעֲקַ֨ת SDBH There is a cry חֶשְׁבּ֜וֹן SDBH from Heshbon עַד־ SDBH to אֶלְעָלֵ֗ה SDBH Elealeh עַד־ SDBH to יַ֙הַץ֙ SDBH Jahaz נָתְנ֣וּ they raise קוֹלָ֔ם SDBH their voices מִצֹּ֙עַר֙ SDBH from Zoar עַד־ SDBH to חֹ֣רֹנַ֔יִם SDBH Horonaim עֶגְלַ֖ת SDBH and Eglath-shelishiyah שְׁלִֽשִׁיָּ֑ה SDBH . . . כִּ֚י for גַּם־ SDBH even מֵ֣י SDBH the waters נִמְרִ֔ים SDBH of Nimrim לִמְשַׁמּ֖וֹת SDBH have dried up יִהְיֽוּ׃ vvv

From the cry of Cheshbon even unto Elealeh, and even unto Yahatz, have they uttered their voice, from Tzoar even unto Choronayim, as Eglat-Shlishiyah; for the mayim also of Nimrim shall be dried up.

35

וְהִשְׁבַּתִּ֥י SDBH I will bring an end לְמוֹאָ֖ב SDBH In Moab נְאֻם־ SDBH declares יְהוָ֑ה SDBH Hashem/Adonoi מַעֲלֶ֣ה SDBH to those who make offerings בָמָ֔ה SDBH on the high places וּמַקְטִ֖יר SDBH and burn incense לֵאלֹהָֽיו׃ SDBH to their g-ds

Moreover I will cause to cease in Moav, saith Hashem, him that offereth in the high places, and him that burneth ketoret to his elohim.

36

עַל־ Therefore כֵּ֞ן SDBH . . . לִבִּ֤י SDBH My heart לְמוֹאָב֙ SDBH for Moab כַּחֲלִלִ֣ים SDBH like a flute יֶהֱמֶ֔ה SDBH laments וְלִבִּי֙ SDBH [it] אֶל־ for אַנְשֵׁ֣י SDBH the men קִֽיר־ SDBH vvv חֶ֔רֶשׂ SDBH of Kir-heres כַּחֲלִילִ֖ים SDBH like a flute יֶהֱמֶ֑ה SDBH laments עַל־ because כֵּ֛ן SDBH . . . יִתְרַ֥ת SDBH the wealth עָשָׂ֖ה SDBH they acquired אָבָֽדוּ׃ SDBH has perished

Therefore Mine lev shall wail for Moav like flutes, and Mine lev shall wail like flutes for the anashim of Kir-Cheres; because the riches that he hath gotten are perished.

37

כִּ֤י For כָל־ every רֹאשׁ֙ SDBH head קָרְחָ֔ה SDBH is shaved וְכָל־ and every זָקָ֖ן SDBH beard גְּרֻעָ֑ה SDBH is clipped עַ֤ל on כָּל־ every יָדַ֙יִם֙ SDBH hand גְּדֻדֹ֔ת SDBH is a gash וְעַל־ and around מָתְנַ֖יִם SDBH every waist שָֽׂק׃ SDBH [is] sackcloth

For every rosh shall be shaved, and every zakan (beard) cut: upon all the hands shall be slashes, and upon the loins sackcloth.

עַ֣ל On כָּל־ all גַּגּ֥וֹת SDBH the rooftops מוֹאָ֛ב SDBH of Moab וּבִרְחֹבֹתֶ֖יהָ SDBH and in the public squares כֻּלֹּ֣ה everyone מִסְפֵּ֑ד SDBH is mourning כִּֽי־ for שָׁבַ֣רְתִּי SDBH I have shattered אֶת־ SDBH - מוֹאָ֗ב SDBH Moab כִּכְלִ֛י SDBH jar אֵֽין־ SDBH vvv חֵ֥פֶץ SDBH like an unwanted בּ֖וֹ נְאֻם־ SDBH declares יְהוָֽה׃ SDBH Hashem/Adonoi

There shall be lamentation generally upon all the gagot (roofs) of Moav, and in the streets thereof; for I have broken Moav like a keli (vessel) wherein is no chefets (pleasure) saith Hashem.

39

אֵ֥יךְ SDBH How חַ֙תָּה֙ SDBH shattered [it is] הֵילִ֔ילוּ SDBH How they wail אֵ֛יךְ SDBH How הִפְנָה־ SDBH has turned עֹ֥רֶף SDBH his back מוֹאָ֖ב SDBH Moab בּ֑וֹשׁ SDBH in shame וְהָיָ֥ה has become מוֹאָ֛ב SDBH Moab לִשְׂחֹ֥ק SDBH an object of ridicule וְלִמְחִתָּ֖ה SDBH and horror לְכָל־ to all those סְבִיבָֽיו׃ס around him

They shall wail, saying, How is it shattered! How hath Moav turned the back with shame! So shall Moav be a laughingstock and a horror to all them about him.

40

כִּי־ For כֹה֙ this is what אָמַ֣ר SDBH says יְהוָ֔ה SDBH Hashem/Adonoi הִנֵּ֥ה Behold כַנֶּ֖שֶׁר SDBH an eagle יִדְאֶ֑ה SDBH swoops down וּפָרַ֥שׂ SDBH and spreads כְּנָפָ֖יו SDBH his wings אֶל־ against מוֹאָֽב׃ SDBH Moab

For thus saith Hashem; Hinei, one shall fly like the nesher, and shall spread his wings over Moav.

41

נִלְכְּדָה֙ SDBH has been taken הַקְּרִיּ֔וֹת SDBH Kirioth וְהַמְּצָד֖וֹת SDBH and the strongholds נִתְפָּ֑שָׂה SDBH seized וְֽ֠הָיָה will be לֵ֞ב SDBH the heart גִּבּוֹרֵ֤י SDBH warriors מוֹאָב֙ SDBH of Moab’s בַּיּ֣וֹם SDBH day הַה֔וּא SDBH In that כְּלֵ֖ב SDBH like the heart אִשָּׁ֥ה SDBH of a woman מְצֵרָֽה׃ SDBH in labor

Keriot is captured, and the strongholds are taken, and the lev gibborim in Moav at that day shall be as the lev isha in her birth pangs.

42

וְנִשְׁמַ֥ד SDBH will be destroyed מוֹאָ֖ב SDBH Moab מֵעָ֑ם SDBH as a nation כִּ֥י because עַל־ against יְהוָ֖ה SDBH Hashem/Adonoi הִגְדִּֽיל׃ SDBH he vaunted himself

And Moav shall be destroyed from being a people, because he hath magnified himself against Hashem.

43

פַּ֥חַד SDBH Terror וָפַ֖חַת SDBH and pit וָפָ֑ח SDBH and snare עָלֶ֛יךָ await you יוֹשֵׁ֥ב SDBH O dweller מוֹאָ֖ב SDBH of Moab נְאֻם־ SDBH declares יְהוָֽה׃ SDBH Hashem/Adonoi

Pachad (fear), and the pakhat (pit), and the pach (snare), shall be upon thee, O inhabitant of Moav, saith Hashem.

44

הַנִּיס SDBH Whoever flees מִפְּנֵ֤י . . . הַפַּ֙חַד֙ SDBH the panic יִפֹּ֣ל SDBH will fall אֶל־ into הַפַּ֔חַת SDBH the pit וְהָֽעֹלֶה֙ SDBH and whoever climbs מִן־ from הַפַּ֔חַת SDBH the pit יִלָּכֵ֖ד SDBH will be caught בַּפָּ֑ח SDBH in the snare כִּֽי־ For אָבִ֨יא SDBH I will bring אֵלֶ֧יהָ upon אֶל־ . . . מוֹאָ֛ב SDBH Moab שְׁנַ֥ת SDBH the year פְּקֻדָּתָ֖ם SDBH of their punishment נְאֻם־ SDBH declares יְהוָֽה׃ SDBH Hashem/Adonoi

He that fleeth from the pachad (terror) shall fall into the pakhat (pit); and he that getteth up out of the pakhat shall be caught in the pach (snare); for I will bring upon it, even upon Moav, the shnat (year of) their pekuddat (visitation), saith Hashem.

45

בְּצֵ֥ל SDBH shadow חֶשְׁבּ֛וֹן SDBH in Heshbon’s עָמְד֖וּ SDBH will stand מִכֹּ֣חַ SDBH helpless נָסִ֑ים SDBH Those who flee כִּֽי־ because אֵ֞שׁ SDBH fire יָצָ֣א SDBH has gone forth מֵחֶשְׁבּ֗וֹן SDBH from Heshbon וְלֶֽהָבָה֙ SDBH and a flame מִבֵּ֣ין SDBH from within סִיח֔וֹן SDBH Sihon וַתֹּ֙אכַל֙ SDBH It devours פְּאַ֣ת SDBH the foreheads מוֹאָ֔ב SDBH of Moab וְקָדְקֹ֖ד SDBH and the skulls בְּנֵ֥י SDBH of the sons שָׁאֽוֹן׃ SDBH of tumult

They that fled stood under the tzel (shadow) of Cheshbon without ko'ach; for an eish shall come forth out of Cheshbon, and a flame from the midst of Sichon, and shall devour the forehead of Moav, and the crown of the head of the bnei sha'on (sons of tumult).

46

אוֹי־ SDBH Woe לְךָ֣ to you מוֹאָ֔ב SDBH O Moab אָבַ֖ד SDBH have perished עַם־ SDBH The people כְּמ֑וֹשׁ SDBH of Chemosh כִּֽי־ for לֻקְּח֤וּ SDBH have been taken בָנֶ֙יךָ֙ SDBH your sons בַּשֶּׁ֔בִי SDBH into exile וּבְנֹתֶ֖יךָ SDBH and your daughters בַּשִּׁבְיָֽה׃ SDBH have gone into captivity

Oy be unto thee, O Moav! The people of Chemosh perisheth; for thy banim are taken captives, and thy banot into captivity.

47

וְשַׁבְתִּ֧י SDBH I will restore שְׁבוּת־ SDBH from captivity מוֹאָ֛ב SDBH Moab בְּאַחֲרִ֥ית SDBH Yet in the latter הַיָּמִ֖ים SDBH days נְאֻם־ SDBH declares יְהוָ֑ה SDBH Hashem/Adonoi עַד־ SDBH ends הֵ֖נָּה SDBH Here מִשְׁפַּ֥ט SDBH the judgment מוֹאָֽב׃ס SDBH on Moab

Yet will I bring again the captives of Moav in the acharit hayamim, saith Hashem. Hinei, the mishpat Moav (judgment of Moab).
