לַמְנַצֵּ֥חַ SDBH For the choirmaster אֶל־ To the tune of שֹׁשַׁנִּ֑ים SDBH The Lilies עֵד֖וּת SDBH of the Covenant לְאָסָ֣ף SDBH of Asaph מִזְמֽוֹר׃ SDBH A Psalm רֹ֘עֵ֤ה SDBH O Shepherd יִשְׂרָאֵ֨ל׀ SDBH of Israel הַאֲזִ֗ינָה SDBH Hear us נֹהֵ֣ג SDBH who leads כַּצֹּ֣אן SDBH like a flock יוֹסֵ֑ף SDBH Joseph יֹשֵׁ֖ב SDBH You who sit enthroned הַכְּרוּבִ֣ים SDBH [between] the cherubim הוֹפִֽיעָה׃ SDBH shine forth

(For the one directing. Set to The Lilies of the Edut. Of Asaph. Mizmor.) Give ear, O Ro'eh Yisroel, Thou that leadest Yosef like a tzon; Thou that art enthroned between the Keruvim, shine forth.

לִפְנֵ֤י before אֶפְרַ֨יִם׀ SDBH Ephraim וּבִנְיָ֘מִ֤ן SDBH Benjamin וּמְנַשֶּׁ֗ה SDBH and Manasseh עוֹרְרָ֥ה SDBH Rally אֶת־ SDBH - גְּבֽוּרָתֶ֑ךָ SDBH Your mighty power וּלְכָ֖ה SDBH and come לִישֻׁעָ֣תָה SDBH to save לָּֽנוּ׃ us

Before Ephrayim and Binyamin and Menasheh, Stir up Thy gevurah (might), and come and save us.

אֱלֹהִ֥ים SDBH O G-d הֲשִׁיבֵ֑נוּ SDBH Restore us וְהָאֵ֥ר SDBH to shine upon us פָּ֝נֶ֗יךָ and cause Your face וְנִוָּשֵֽׁעָה׃ SDBH that we may be saved

Turn us again, O Elohim, and cause Thy face to shine that we may be saved.

יְהוָ֣ה SDBH Hashem/Adonoi אֱלֹהִ֣ים SDBH G-d צְבָא֑וֹת SDBH of Hosts עַד־ SDBH how long מָתַ֥י SDBH . . . עָ֝שַׁ֗נְתָּ SDBH will Your anger smolder בִּתְפִלַּ֥ת SDBH against the prayers עַמֶּֽךָ׃ SDBH of Your people

Hashem Elohim Tzva'os, ad mosai (how long) wilt Thou be angry against the tefillat amecha (prayer of Thy people)?

הֶ֭אֱכַלְתָּם SDBH You fed them לֶ֣חֶם SDBH with the bread דִּמְעָ֑ה SDBH of tears וַ֝תַּשְׁקֵ֗מוֹ SDBH and made them drink בִּדְמָע֥וֹת SDBH of [their] tears שָׁלִֽישׁ׃ SDBH the full measure

Thou feedest them with the lechem dimah (bread of tears); and givest them dima'ot (tears) to drink in great measure.

תְּשִׂימֵ֣נוּ SDBH You make us מָ֭דוֹן SDBH contend לִשְׁכֵנֵ֑ינוּ SDBH with our neighbors וְ֝אֹיְבֵ֗ינוּ SDBH our enemies יִלְעֲגוּ־ SDBH mock לָֽמוֹ׃ us

Thou makest us a madon (strife, contention) unto shcheneinu (our neighbors), and oyveinu (our enemies) mock us.

אֱלֹהִ֣ים SDBH O G-d צְבָא֣וֹת SDBH of Hosts הֲשִׁיבֵ֑נוּ SDBH Restore us וְהָאֵ֥ר SDBH to shine upon us פָּ֝נֶ֗יךָ and cause Your face וְנִוָּשֵֽׁעָה׃ SDBH that we may be saved

Turn us again, O Elohim Tzva'os, and cause Thy face to shine that we may be saved.

גֶּ֭פֶן SDBH a vine מִמִּצְרַ֣יִם SDBH from Egypt תַּסִּ֑יעַ SDBH You uprooted תְּגָרֵ֥שׁ SDBH You drove out גּ֝וֹיִ֗ם SDBH the nations וַתִּטָּעֶֽהָ׃ SDBH and transplanted it

Thou hast brought a gefen (vine) out of Mitzrayim; Thou hast drove out Goyim, and planted it.

פִּנִּ֥יתָ SDBH You cleared the ground לְפָנֶ֑יהָ for it וַתַּשְׁרֵ֥שׁ SDBH and it took שָׁ֝רָשֶׁ֗יהָ SDBH root וַתְּמַלֵּא־ SDBH and filled אָֽרֶץ׃ SDBH the land

Thou preparedst room before it, and didst cause it to take deep root, and it filled the eretz.

10

כָּסּ֣וּ SDBH were covered הָרִ֣ים SDBH The mountains צִלָּ֑הּ SDBH by its shade וַ֝עֲנָפֶ֗יהָ SDBH with its branches אַֽרְזֵי־ SDBH cedars אֵֽל׃ SDBH and the mighty

The harim were covered with the tzel (shadow) of it, and the branches thereof were like the mighty cedars.

תְּשַׁלַּ֣ח SDBH It sent out קְצִירֶ֣הָ SDBH its branches עַד־ SDBH to יָ֑ם SDBH the Sea וְאֶל־ toward נָ֝הָ֗ר SDBH the River יֽוֹנְקוֹתֶֽיהָ׃ SDBH and its shoots

It sent out its branches unto the yam (sea, i.e., Mediterranean Sea) and its shoots unto the Nahar (river, i.e., the Euphrates).

לָ֭מָּה SDBH Why פָּרַ֣צְתָּ SDBH have You broken down גְדֵרֶ֑יהָ SDBH its walls וְ֝אָר֗וּהָ SDBH pick its fruit כָּל־ so that all עֹ֥בְרֵי SDBH who pass by דָֽרֶךְ׃ SDBH . . .

Lammah (why) hast Thou then broken down her walls, so that all they which pass by the derech do pluck her?

יְכַרְסְמֶ֣נָּֽה SDBH ravages it חֲזִ֣יר SDBH The boar מִיָּ֑עַר SDBH from the forest וְזִ֖יז SDBH and the creatures שָׂדַ֣י SDBH of the field יִרְעֶֽנָּה׃ SDBH feed upon it

The chazir (wild boar) out of the forest doth lay it waste, and the beasts of the sadeh doth devour it.

אֱלֹהִ֣ים SDBH O G-d צְבָאוֹת֮ SDBH of Hosts שֽׁ֫וּב־ SDBH Return נָ֥א we pray הַבֵּ֣ט SDBH Look down מִשָּׁמַ֣יִם SDBH from heaven וּרְאֵ֑ה SDBH and see וּ֝פְקֹ֗ד SDBH Attend to גֶּ֣פֶן SDBH vine זֹֽאת׃ SDBH this

Shuv nah (return now), we beseech Thee, O Elohim Tzva'os; look down from Shomayim, and behold, and visit gefen zot (this vine);

וְ֭כַנָּה SDBH the root אֲשֶׁר־ SDBH - נָטְעָ֣ה SDBH has planted יְמִינֶ֑ךָ SDBH Your right hand וְעַל־ . . . בֵּ֝֗ן SDBH the son אִמַּ֥צְתָּה SDBH You have raised up לָּֽךְ׃ for Yourself

And the stock which Thy Yamin (Right Hand) hath planted, and the Ben that Thou madest strong for Thyself.

שְׂרֻפָ֣ה SDBH and burned בָאֵ֣שׁ SDBH . . . כְּסוּחָ֑ה SDBH [Your vine] has been cut down מִגַּעֲרַ֖ת SDBH at the rebuke פָּנֶ֣יךָ of Your countenance יֹאבֵֽדוּ׃ SDBH they perish

It is burned with eish, it is cut down; they perish at the ge'arah (rebuke) of Thy countenance.

17

תְּֽהִי־ be יָ֭דְךָ SDBH Let Your hand עַל־ upon אִ֣ישׁ SDBH the man יְמִינֶ֑ךָ SDBH at Your right hand עַל־ on בֶּן־ SDBH the son אָ֝דָ֗ם SDBH of man אִמַּ֥צְתָּ SDBH You have raised up לָּֽךְ׃ for Yourself

Let Thy Yad be upon the Ish Yeminecha (the Man of your Right Hand), upon the Ben Adam whom Thou madest strong for Thyself [cf Psalm 110:1; Dan 7:13].

18

וְלֹא־ SDBH Then we will not נָס֥וֹג SDBH turn away מִמֶּ֑ךָּ from You תְּ֝חַיֵּ֗נוּ SDBH revive us וּבְשִׁמְךָ֥ SDBH on Your name נִקְרָֽא׃ SDBH and we will call

So will we never turn back from Thee; revive us, and we will call upon Thy Shem.

יְה֘וָ֤ה SDBH Hashem/Adonoi אֱלֹהִ֣ים SDBH G-d צְבָא֣וֹת SDBH of Hosts הֲשִׁיבֵ֑נוּ SDBH Restore us הָאֵ֥ר SDBH to shine upon us פָּ֝נֶ֗יךָ cause Your face וְנִוָּשֵֽׁעָה׃ SDBH that we may be saved
