לַמְנַצֵּ֣חַ SDBH For the choirmaster עַל־ To the tune of שֹׁ֭שַׁנִּים SDBH The Lilies לִבְנֵי־ SDBH of the sons קֹ֑רַח SDBH of Korah מַ֝שְׂכִּ֗יל SDBH A Maskil שִׁ֣יר SDBH song יְדִידֹֽת׃ SDBH A love רָ֘חַ֤שׁ SDBH is stirred לִבִּ֨י׀ SDBH My heart דָּ֘בָ֤ר SDBH theme ט֗וֹב SDBH by a noble אֹמֵ֣ר SDBH recite אָ֭נִי SDBH as I מַעֲשַׂ֣י SDBH my verses לְמֶ֑לֶךְ SDBH to the king לְ֝שׁוֹנִ֗י SDBH my tongue עֵ֤ט׀ SDBH is the pen סוֹפֵ֬ר SDBH writer מָהִֽיר׃ SDBH of a skillful

(For the one directing upon Shoshannim, for the Bnei Korach. A Maskil. Shir yedidot, i.e., a love song). My lev is stirred with davar tov; I speak my verses to HaMelech; my leshon (tongue) is the et (pen, stylus) of a sofer mahir (ready scribe, skillful writer).

יָפְיָפִ֡יתָ SDBH You are the most handsome מִבְּנֵ֬י SDBH of men אָדָ֗ם SDBH . . . ה֣וּצַק SDBH has anointed חֵ֭ן SDBH grace בְּשְׂפְתוֹתֶ֑יךָ SDBH your lips עַל־ therefore כֵּ֤ן SDBH . . . בֵּֽרַכְךָ֖ SDBH has blessed you forever אֱלֹהִ֣ים SDBH G-d לְעוֹלָֽם׃ SDBH . . .

Thou art fairer than Bnei Adam; chen (grace, favor) is poured upon Thy sfatayim (lips); therefore Elohim hath blessed Thee l'olam. [T.N. THE COMING MESSIANIC KING IS CALLED ELOHIM [PS 45:6(7)] JUST AS THIS COMING PERSONAGE IS CALLED EL GIBBOR IN ISA 9:5; SEE MJ 1:8; THE TARGUMIST RENDERS PSA 45:2(3) AS A REFERENCE TO MOSHIACH.]

חֲגֽוֹר־ SDBH Strap חַרְבְּךָ֣ SDBH your sword עַל־ at יָרֵ֣ךְ SDBH your side גִּבּ֑וֹר SDBH O mighty warrior ה֝וֹדְךָ֗ SDBH appear in your majesty וַהֲדָרֶֽךָ׃ SDBH and splendor

Gird Thy cherev upon Thy side, O Gibbor [See Isaiah 9:5(6)], with Thy hod (glory, splendor) and Thy hadar (majesty).

וַהֲדָ֬רְךָ֨׀ SDBH In your splendor צְלַ֬ח SDBH in victory רְכַ֗ב SDBH ride forth עַֽל־ on דְּבַר־ SDBH behalf אֱ֭מֶת SDBH of truth וְעַנְוָה־ SDBH and humility צֶ֑דֶק SDBH and justice וְתוֹרְךָ֖ SDBH show נוֹרָא֣וֹת SDBH your awesome deeds יְמִינֶֽךָ׃ SDBH may your right hand

And in Thy hadar (majesty) ride forth victoriously for the sake of emes and anavah and tzedek; and Thy Yamin (Right Hand) shall guide Thee to nora'ot (things of awe).

חִצֶּ֗יךָ SDBH Your arrows שְׁנ֫וּנִ֥ים SDBH pierce עַ֭מִּים SDBH the nations תַּחְתֶּ֣יךָ SDBH beneath your feet יִפְּל֑וּ SDBH fall בְּ֝לֵ֗ב SDBH the hearts אוֹיְבֵ֥י SDBH foes הַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃ SDBH of the king’s

Thine khitzim (arrows) are sharp in the lev oyvei HaMelech (in the heart of the King's enemies); the Amim (nations) fall under Thee.

כִּסְאֲךָ֣ SDBH Your throne אֱ֭לֹהִים SDBH O G-d עוֹלָ֣ם SDBH [endures] forever וָעֶ֑ד SDBH and ever שֵׁ֥בֶט SDBH [and] מִ֝ישֹׁ֗ר SDBH justice שֵׁ֣בֶט SDBH [is] the scepter מַלְכוּתֶֽךָ׃ SDBH of Your kingdom

Thy kisse (throne), O Elohim, is olam va'ed; the shevet (sceptre) of Thy Malchut is a shevet of uprightness.

אָהַ֣בְתָּ SDBH You have loved צֶּדֶק֮ SDBH righteousness וַתִּשְׂנָ֫א SDBH and hated רֶ֥שַׁע SDBH wickedness עַל־ therefore כֵּ֤ן׀ SDBH . . . מְשָׁחֲךָ֡ SDBH has anointed you אֱלֹהִ֣ים SDBH G-d אֱ֭לֹהֶיךָ SDBH your G-d שֶׁ֥מֶן SDBH with the oil שָׂשׂ֗וֹן SDBH of joy מֵֽחֲבֵרֶֽיךָ׃ SDBH above your companions

Thou lovest tzedek, and hatest resha; therefore Elohim, Eloheicha, hath anointed Thee with shemen sasson (the oil of gladness) above Thy chaverim.

מֹר־ SDBH with myrrh וַאֲהָל֣וֹת SDBH and aloes קְ֭צִיעוֹת SDBH and cassia כָּל־ All בִּגְדֹתֶ֑יךָ SDBH your garments [are fragrant] מִֽן־ from הֵ֥יכְלֵי SDBH palaces שֵׁ֝֗ן SDBH of ivory מִנִּ֥י SDBH the harps שִׂמְּחֽוּךָ׃ SDBH make you glad

All Thy robes smell of myrrh, and aloes, and cassia; out of the ivory heikhalim stringed instruments have made Thee glad.

בְּנ֣וֹת SDBH The daughters מְ֭לָכִים SDBH of kings בְּיִקְּרוֹתֶ֑יךָ SDBH are among your honored women נִצְּבָ֥ה SDBH stands שֵׁגַ֥ל SDBH the queen לִֽ֝ימִינְךָ֗ SDBH at your right hand בְּכֶ֣תֶם SDBH adorned with the gold אוֹפִֽיר׃ SDBH of Ophir

Banot Melachim were among Thy ladies of honor; upon Thy Yamin (Right Hand) is stationed the Shegal (Queen consort, spouse of the reigning monarch) in golden jewelry of Ophir.

שִׁמְעִי־ SDBH Listen בַ֣ת SDBH O daughter וּ֭רְאִי SDBH Consider וְהַטִּ֣י SDBH and incline אָזְנֵ֑ךְ SDBH your ear וְשִׁכְחִ֥י SDBH Forget עַ֝מֵּ֗ךְ SDBH your people וּבֵ֥ית SDBH house אָבִֽיךְ׃ SDBH and your father’s

Pay heed, O Bat (daughter), and consider, and incline thine ear; forget also thine own people, and thy Bais Avi;

וְיִתְאָ֣ו SDBH will desire הַמֶּ֣לֶךְ SDBH and the king יָפְיֵ֑ךְ SDBH your beauty כִּי־ for ה֥וּא SDBH he אֲ֝דֹנַ֗יִךְ SDBH is your lord וְהִשְׁתַּֽחֲוִי־ SDBH bow לֽוֹ׃ to him

Then shall HaMelech be enthralled with thy beauty; since He is thy Adon, hishtachavi lo (bow to Him).

וּבַֽת־ SDBH The Daughter צֹ֨ר׀ SDBH of Tyre בְּ֭מִנְחָה SDBH [will come] with a gift פָּנַ֥יִךְ your favor יְחַלּ֗וּ SDBH will seek עֲשִׁ֣ירֵי SDBH of wealth עָֽם׃ SDBH men

And the Bat Tzor (Tyre) shall be there with a minchah (gift); even the ashirim (rich ones) among the people shall entreat thy favor.

כָּל־ All כְּבוּדָּ֣ה SDBH glorious בַת־ SDBH is the princess מֶ֣לֶךְ SDBH . . . פְּנִ֑ימָה SDBH in her chamber מִֽמִּשְׁבְּצ֖וֹת SDBH [is] embroidered זָהָ֣ב SDBH with gold לְבוּשָֽׁהּ׃ SDBH her gown

The Bat Melech is all glorious within; her clothing is zahav embroidered.

לִרְקָמוֹת֮ SDBH In colorful garments תּוּבַ֪ל SDBH she is led לַ֫מֶּ֥לֶךְ SDBH to the king בְּתוּל֣וֹת SDBH her virgin אַ֭חֲרֶיהָ SDBH . . . רֵעוֹתֶ֑יהָ SDBH companions מ֖וּבָא֣וֹת SDBH are brought לָֽךְ׃ before you

She shall be brought unto HaMelech in woven apparel; the betulot (virgins), her companions that follow her, shall be brought unto Thee.

תּ֭וּבַלְנָה SDBH They are led in בִּשְׂמָחֹ֣ת SDBH with joy וָגִ֑יל SDBH and gladness תְּ֝בֹאֶ֗ינָה SDBH they enter בְּהֵ֣יכַל SDBH the palace מֶֽלֶךְ׃ SDBH of the king

With simchah and gladness shall they be led forth; they shall enter into the Heikhal Melech.

16

תַּ֣חַת SDBH will succeed אֲ֭בֹתֶיךָ SDBH your fathers יִהְי֣וּ . . . בָנֶ֑יךָ SDBH Your sons תְּשִׁיתֵ֥מוֹ SDBH you will make them לְ֝שָׂרִ֗ים SDBH princes בְּכָל־ throughout הָאָֽרֶץ׃ SDBH the land

Instead of thy avot shall be thy sons, whom thou mayest make sarim (princes) in kol ha'aretz.

17

אַזְכִּ֣ירָה SDBH I will commemorate שִׁ֭מְךָ SDBH your name בְּכָל־ through all דֹּ֣ר SDBH generations וָדֹ֑ר SDBH . . . עַל־ therefore כֵּ֥ן SDBH . . . עַמִּ֥ים SDBH the nations יְ֝הוֹדֻ֗ךָ SDBH will praise you לְעֹלָ֥ם SDBH forever וָעֶֽד׃ SDBH and ever

I will make Thy Shem to be remembered kol dor vador; therefore shall the Amim (nations) praise Thee l'olam va'ed.
