Tehillim 139 — Hebrew–OJB Interlinear

לַ֭מְנַצֵּחַ SDBH For the choirmaster לְדָוִ֣ד SDBH of David מִזְמ֑וֹר SDBH A Psalm יְהוָ֥ה SDBH Hashem/Adonoi חֲ֝קַרְתַּ֗נִי SDBH You have searched me וַתֵּדָֽע׃ SDBH and known me

(For the one directing, Mizmor of Dovid). Hashem, Thou hast searched me, and known me.

אַתָּ֣ה SDBH You יָ֭דַעְתָּ SDBH know שִׁבְתִּ֣י SDBH when I sit וְקוּמִ֑י SDBH and when I rise בַּ֥נְתָּה SDBH You understand לְ֝רֵעִ֗י SDBH my thoughts מֵרָחֽוֹק׃ SDBH from afar

Thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising, Thou hast binah of my thought from aphar.

אָרְחִ֣י SDBH my path וְרִבְעִ֣י SDBH and my lying down זֵרִ֑יתָ SDBH You search out וְֽכָל־ of all דְּרָכַ֥י SDBH my ways הִסְכַּֽנְתָּה׃ SDBH You are aware

Thou comprehendeth my path and my lying down, and art acquainted with all my drakhim.

כִּ֤י Even אֵ֣ין SDBH . . . מִ֭לָּה SDBH before a word בִּלְשׁוֹנִ֑י SDBH is on my tongue הֵ֥ן . . . יְ֝הוָ֗ה SDBH Hashem/Adonoi יָדַ֥עְתָּ SDBH You know כֻלָּֽהּ׃ all about it

For there is not a milah (word) in my leshon, but, lo, Hashem, Thou knowest it altogether.

אָח֣וֹר SDBH behind וָקֶ֣דֶם SDBH and before צַרְתָּ֑נִי SDBH You hem me in וַתָּ֖שֶׁת SDBH You have laid עָלַ֣י upon me כַּפֶּֽכָה׃ SDBH Your hand

Thou hast enclosed me achor (behind) and kedem (before), and laid Thine hand upon me.

פִּלְאִיָּה SDBH [is] too wonderful דַ֣עַת SDBH [Such] knowledge מִמֶּ֑נִּי for me נִ֝שְׂגְּבָ֗ה SDBH too lofty לֹא־ SDBH א֥וּכַֽל SDBH for me to attain לָֽהּ׃

Such da'as is too wonderful for me; it is high, I cannot attain unto it.

אָ֭נָ֥ה SDBH Where אֵלֵ֣ךְ SDBH can I go מֵרוּחֶ֑ךָ SDBH to escape Your Spirit וְ֝אָ֗נָה SDBH Where מִפָּנֶ֥יךָ from Your presence אֶבְרָֽח׃ SDBH can I flee

To where can I go from Thy Ruach [Hakodesh]? Or to where shall I flee from Thy presence?

אִם־ SDBH If אֶסַּ֣ק SDBH I ascend שָׁ֭מַיִם SDBH to the heavens שָׁ֣ם SDBH are there אָ֑תָּה SDBH You וְאַצִּ֖יעָה SDBH if I make my bed שְּׁא֣וֹל SDBH in Sheol הִנֶּֽךָּ׃ You are there

If I ascend up into Shomayim, Thou art there; if I make my bed in Sheol, hinei, Thou art there.

אֶשָּׂ֥א SDBH If I rise on כַנְפֵי־ SDBH the wings שָׁ֑חַר SDBH of the dawn אֶ֝שְׁכְּנָ֗ה SDBH if I settle בְּאַחֲרִ֥ית SDBH by the farthest יָֽם׃ SDBH sea

If I take the wings of the shachar (dawn), and dwell in the uttermost acharit yam (the extreme end of the sea);

גַּם־ SDBH even שָׁ֭ם SDBH there יָדְךָ֣ SDBH Your hand תַנְחֵ֑נִי SDBH will guide me וְֽתֹאחֲזֵ֥נִי SDBH will hold me fast יְמִינֶֽךָ׃ SDBH Your right hand

Even there shall Thy yad lead me, and Thy yamin shall hold me.

11

וָ֭אֹמַר SDBH If I say אַךְ־ SDBH Surely חֹ֣שֶׁךְ SDBH the darkness יְשׁוּפֵ֑נִי SDBH will hide me וְ֝לַ֗יְלָה SDBH become night א֣וֹר SDBH and the light בַּעֲדֵֽנִי׃ SDBH around me

If I say, Surely the choshech shall cover me, even the lailah shall be ohr about me.

גַּם־ SDBH even חֹשֶׁךְ֮ SDBH the darkness לֹֽא־ SDBH is not יַחְשִׁ֪יךְ SDBH dark מִ֫מֶּ֥ךָ to You וְ֭לַיְלָה SDBH but the night כַּיּ֣וֹם SDBH like the day יָאִ֑יר SDBH shines כַּ֝חֲשֵׁיכָ֗ה SDBH for darkness כָּאוֹרָֽה׃ SDBH is as light to You

Even the choshech is not dark to Thee; but the lailah shineth as the yom; the choshech and the ohr are both alike to Thee.

כִּֽי־ For אַ֭תָּה SDBH You קָנִ֣יתָ SDBH formed כִלְיֹתָ֑י SDBH my inmost being תְּ֝סֻכֵּ֗נִי SDBH You knit me together בְּבֶ֣טֶן SDBH womb אִמִּֽי׃ SDBH in my mother’s

For Thou hast possessed my inmost being; Thou didst interweave me in the beten immi.

אֽוֹדְךָ֗ SDBH I praise עַ֤ל You כִּ֥י for נוֹרָא֗וֹת SDBH I am fearfully נִ֫פְלֵ֥יתִי SDBH and wonderfully made נִפְלָאִ֥ים SDBH Marvelous מַעֲשֶׂ֑יךָ SDBH [are] Your works וְ֝נַפְשִׁ֗י SDBH and I יֹדַ֥עַת SDBH know this מְאֹֽד׃ very well

I will praise Thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; marvellous are Thy ma'asim; and that my nefesh knoweth very well.

לֹא־ SDBH was not נִכְחַ֥ד SDBH hidden עָצְמִ֗י SDBH My frame מִ֫מֶּ֥ךָּ from You אֲשֶׁר־ SDBH when עֻשֵּׂ֥יתִי SDBH I was made בַסֵּ֑תֶר SDBH in secret רֻ֝קַּ֗מְתִּי SDBH when I was woven together בְּֽתַחְתִּיּ֥וֹת SDBH in the depths אָֽרֶץ׃ SDBH of the earth

My atzamim (bones, frame) were not hid from Thee, when I was made beseter (in secret), and skillfully wrought in the depths of the Eretz.

גָּלְמִ֤י׀ SDBH my unformed body רָ֘א֤וּ SDBH saw עֵינֶ֗יךָ SDBH Your eyes וְעַֽל־ in סִפְרְךָ֮ SDBH Your book כֻּלָּ֪ם all יִכָּ֫תֵ֥בוּ SDBH were written יָמִ֥ים SDBH my days יֻצָּ֑רוּ SDBH and ordained for me וְלֹא SDBH . . . אֶחָ֣ד SDBH before one of them came to be בָּהֶֽם׃

Thine eyes did see my golem (embryo), yet being unformed; and in Thy Sefer (Book) all the yamim (days) ordained for me were written down, when as yet there were none of them.

17

וְלִ֗י מַה־ SDBH How יָּקְר֣וּ SDBH precious to me רֵעֶ֣יךָ SDBH are Your thoughts אֵ֑ל SDBH O G-d מֶ֥ה SDBH how עָ֝צְמוּ SDBH vast רָאשֵׁיהֶֽם׃ SDBH is their sum

How precious also are Thy thoughts unto me, O El! How great is the sum of them!

18

אֶ֭סְפְּרֵם SDBH [If] I were to count them מֵח֣וֹל SDBH the grains of sand יִרְבּ֑וּן they would outnumber הֱ֝קִיצֹ֗תִי SDBH and when I awake וְעוֹדִ֥י I am still עִמָּֽךְ׃ with You

If I should count them, they are more in number than the chol (sand); when I awake, I am still with Thee.

19

אִם־ SDBH O תִּקְטֹ֖ל SDBH that You would slay אֱל֥וֹהַּ׀ SDBH G-d רָשָׁ֑ע SDBH the wicked וְאַנְשֵׁ֥י SDBH men דָ֝מִ֗ים SDBH you bloodthirsty ס֣וּרוּ SDBH away מֶֽנִּי׃ from me

Surely Thou wilt slay the rasha, O Eloah; depart from me therefore, ye anshei damim (bloodthirsty men).

20

אֲשֶׁ֣ר SDBH who יֹ֭אמְרֻךָ SDBH speak of You לִמְזִמָּ֑ה SDBH deceitfully נָשֻׂ֖א SDBH take לַשָּׁ֣וְא SDBH [Your name] in vain עָרֶֽיךָ׃ SDBH Your enemies

For they speak of Thee craftily, and it is taken lashav [Ex 20:7] by Thy enemies.

21

הֲלֽוֹא־ SDBH Do I not מְשַׂנְאֶ֖יךָ SDBH hate יְהוָ֥ה׀ SDBH Hashem/Adonoi אֶשְׂנָ֑א SDBH those who hate You וּ֝בִתְקוֹמְמֶ֗יךָ SDBH those who rise against You אֶתְקוֹטָֽט׃ SDBH and detest

Should not I hate them, Hashem, that hate Thee? And am not I to be at odds with those that rise up against Thee?

22

תַּכְלִ֣ית SDBH with perfect שִׂנְאָ֣ה SDBH hatred שְׂנֵאתִ֑ים SDBH I hate them לְ֝אוֹיְבִ֗ים SDBH as my enemies הָ֣יוּ I count them לִֽי׃

I abhor them with complete sinah; I count them mine enemies.

23

חָקְרֵ֣נִי SDBH Search me אֵ֭ל SDBH O G-d וְדַ֣ע SDBH and know לְבָבִ֑י SDBH my heart בְּ֝חָנֵ֗נִי SDBH test me וְדַ֣ע SDBH and know שַׂרְעַפָּֽי׃ SDBH my concerns

Search me, O El, and know my levav; test me, and know my thoughts;

24

וּרְאֵ֗ה SDBH See אִם־ SDBH if דֶּֽרֶךְ־ SDBH way עֹ֥צֶב SDBH there is any offensive בִּ֑י in me וּ֝נְחֵ֗נִי SDBH lead me בְּדֶ֣רֶךְ SDBH in the way עוֹלָֽם׃ SDBH everlasting

And see if there be any derech otzev (torturous crooked road) in me, and lead me in the Derech Olam.
