Tehillim 109 — Hebrew–OJB Interlinear

לַ֭מְנַצֵּחַ SDBH For the choirmaster לְדָוִ֣ד SDBH of David מִזְמ֑וֹר SDBH A Psalm אֱלֹהֵ֥י SDBH O G-d תְ֝הִלָּתִ֗י SDBH of my praise אַֽל־ be not תֶּחֱרַֽשׁ׃ SDBH silent

(For the one directing. Of Dovid. Mizmor) Hold not Thy peace, O Elohei tehillati;

כִּ֤י For פִ֪י SDBH mouths רָשָׁ֡ע SDBH wicked וּֽפִי־ SDBH . . . מִ֭רְמָה SDBH and deceitful עָלַ֣י against me פָּתָ֑חוּ SDBH open דִּבְּר֥וּ SDBH they speak אִ֝תִּ֗י SDBH against me לְשׁ֣וֹן SDBH tongues שָֽׁקֶר׃ SDBH with lying

For the mouth of the rasha and the mouth of the mirmah are opened against me; they have spoken against me with a leshon sheker (a lying tongue).

וְדִבְרֵ֣י SDBH words שִׂנְאָ֣ה SDBH with hateful סְבָב֑וּנִי SDBH They surround me וַיִּֽלָּחֲמ֥וּנִי SDBH and attack me חִנָּֽם׃ SDBH without cause

They surrounded me also with divrei sinah (words of hatred); and attacked me without cause.

תַּֽחַת־ SDBH In return for אַהֲבָתִ֥י SDBH my love יִשְׂטְנ֗וּנִי SDBH they accuse me וַאֲנִ֥י SDBH but I [am a man] תְפִלָּֽה׃ SDBH [of] prayer

In return for my ahavah they are my adversaries; but I give myself unto tefillah (prayer).

וַיָּ֘שִׂ֤ימוּ SDBH They repay me עָלַ֣י . . . רָ֭עָה SDBH evil תַּ֣חַת SDBH for טוֹבָ֑ה SDBH good וְ֝שִׂנְאָ֗ה SDBH and hatred תַּ֣חַת SDBH for אַהֲבָתִֽי׃ SDBH my love

Thus they have laid upon me ra'ah for tovah, and sinah for my ahavah.

הַפְקֵ֣ד SDBH Set עָלָ֣יו over him רָשָׁ֑ע SDBH a wicked man וְ֝שָׂטָ֗ן SDBH let an accuser יַעֲמֹ֥ד SDBH stand עַל־ at יְמִינֽוֹ׃ SDBH his right hand

Set Thou a rasha (wicked man) over him; and let Satan (the Accuser) stand at his yamin (right hand).

בְּ֭הִשָּׁ֣פְטוֹ SDBH When he is tried יֵצֵ֣א SDBH . . . רָשָׁ֑ע SDBH let him be found guilty וּ֝תְפִלָּת֗וֹ SDBH and may his prayer תִּהְיֶ֥ה be regarded לַֽחֲטָאָֽה׃ SDBH as sin

When he shall be tried, let him be in the judgment condemned; and let his tefillah (prayer) become sin.

יִֽהְיֽוּ־ be יָמָ֥יו SDBH May his days מְעַטִּ֑ים SDBH few פְּ֝קֻדָּת֗וֹ SDBH his position יִקַּ֥ח SDBH take אַחֵֽר׃ SDBH may another

Let his yamim be few; and let another take his pekuddat [See Ac 1:20 OJBC].

יִֽהְיוּ־ be בָנָ֥יו SDBH May his children יְתוֹמִ֑ים SDBH fatherless וְ֝אִשְׁתּוֹ SDBH and his wife אַלְמָנָֽה׃ SDBH a widow

Let his banim be yetomim, and his isha an almanah.

10

וְנ֤וֹעַ SDBH wander יָנ֣וּעוּ SDBH . . . בָנָ֣יו SDBH May his children וְשִׁאֵ֑לוּ SDBH as beggars וְ֝דָרְשׁ֗וּ SDBH seeking sustenance מֵחָרְבוֹתֵיהֶֽם׃ SDBH far from their ruined homes

Let his banim be continually vagabonds, and beg; let them seek from their ruins.

11

יְנַקֵּ֣שׁ SDBH seize נ֭וֹשֶׁה SDBH May the creditor לְכָל־ all אֲשֶׁר־ SDBH - ל֑וֹ he owns וְיָבֹ֖זּוּ SDBH plunder זָרִ֣ים SDBH and strangers יְגִיעֽוֹ׃ SDBH the fruits of his labor

Let the nosheh (creditor) seize all that he hath; and let the zarim (strangers) plunder his labor.

12

אַל־ no one יְהִי־ [and] ל֭וֹ to him מֹשֵׁ֣ךְ SDBH to extend חָ֑סֶד SDBH kindness וְֽאַל־ no one יְהִ֥י May there be ח֝וֹנֵ֗ן SDBH to favor לִיתוֹמָֽיו׃ SDBH his fatherless children

Let there be none to extend chesed unto him; neither let there be any to favor his yetomim.

13

יְהִֽי־ be אַחֲרִית֥וֹ SDBH May his descendants לְהַכְרִ֑ית SDBH cut off בְּד֥וֹר SDBH generation אַ֝חֵ֗ר SDBH from the next יִמַּ֥ח SDBH be blotted out שְׁמָֽם׃ SDBH may their name

Let his posterity be cut off; and in the dor acher (generation following) let their shem be blotted out.

14

יִזָּכֵ֤ר׀ SDBH be remembered עֲוֺ֣ן SDBH May the iniquity אֲ֭בֹתָיו SDBH of his fathers אֶל־ before יְהוָ֑ה SDBH Hashem/Adonoi וְחַטַּ֥את SDBH and the sin אִ֝מּ֗וֹ SDBH of his mother אַל־ never תִּמָּֽח׃ SDBH be blotted out

Let the avon of his avot be remembered before Hashem; and let not the chattat immo be blotted out.

15

יִהְי֣וּ remain נֶֽגֶד־ before יְהוָ֣ה SDBH Hashem/Adonoi תָּמִ֑יד SDBH May [their sins] always וְיַכְרֵ֖ת SDBH that He may cut off מֵאֶ֣רֶץ SDBH from the earth זִכְרָֽם׃ SDBH their memory

Let them be before Hashem tamid, that He may cut off the memory of them from ha'aretz.

16

יַ֗עַן SDBH For אֲשֶׁ֤ר׀ SDBH - לֹ֥א SDBH he never זָכַר֮ SDBH thought עֲשׂ֪וֹת SDBH to show חָ֥סֶד SDBH kindness וַיִּרְדֹּ֡ף SDBH but pursued אִישׁ־ SDBH . . . עָנִ֣י SDBH the poor וְ֭אֶבְיוֹן SDBH and needy וְנִכְאֵ֨ה SDBH and לֵבָ֬ב SDBH brokenhearted לְמוֹתֵֽת׃ SDBH even to their death

Because he remembered not to show chesed, but persecuted the ish oni and the evyon, that he might even slay the nikheh levav (brokenhearted person).

17

וַיֶּאֱהַ֣ב SDBH he loved קְ֭לָלָה SDBH The cursing [that] וַתְּבוֹאֵ֑הוּ SDBH may it fall on him וְֽלֹא־ SDBH [in which] he refused חָפֵ֥ץ SDBH to delight בִּ֝בְרָכָ֗ה SDBH the blessing וַתִּרְחַ֥ק SDBH may it be far מִמֶּֽנּוּ׃ from him

As he loved kelalah (cursing), so it came on him; as he delighted not in bracha (blessing), so it was far from him.

18

וַיִּלְבַּ֥שׁ SDBH he wore קְלָלָ֗ה SDBH The cursing [that] כְּמַ֫דּ֥וֹ SDBH like a coat וַתָּבֹ֣א SDBH may it soak into כַמַּ֣יִם SDBH like water בְּקִרְבּ֑וֹ SDBH his body וְ֝כַשֶּׁ֗מֶן SDBH like oil בְּעַצְמוֹתָֽיו׃ SDBH and into his bones

As he clothed himself with kelalah as with his garment, so let it come into his inward parts like mayim, and like shemen into his atzmot.

19

תְּהִי־ May it be ל֭וֹ כְּבֶ֣גֶד SDBH like a robe יַעְטֶ֑ה SDBH wrapped about him וּ֝לְמֵ֗זַח SDBH like a belt תָּמִ֥יד SDBH forever around him יַחְגְּרֶֽהָ׃ SDBH tied

Let it be unto him like a beged which covereth him, and for a belt wherewith he is girded tamid (continually).

20

זֹ֤את SDBH May this פְּעֻלַּ֣ת SDBH reward שֹׂ֭טְנַי SDBH to my accusers מֵאֵ֣ת SDBH . . . יְהוָ֑ה SDBH Hashem/Adonoi וְהַדֹּבְרִ֥ים SDBH to those who speak רָ֝֗ע SDBH evil עַל־ against נַפְשִֽׁי׃ SDBH me

This is the reward of mine adversaries from Hashem, and of them that speak rah against my nefesh.

21

וְאַתָּ֤ה׀ SDBH But You יְה֘וִ֤ה SDBH O G-D אֲדֹנָ֗י SDBH the Lord עֲ‍ֽשֵׂה־ SDBH deal אִ֭תִּי SDBH kindly with me לְמַ֣עַן for the sake of שְׁמֶ֑ךָ SDBH Your name כִּי־ by ט֥וֹב SDBH the goodness חַ֝סְדְּךָ֗ SDBH of Your loving devotion הַצִּילֵֽנִי׃ SDBH deliver me

But Thou O Hashem Adonoi, do with me for the sake of Thy Name; because Thy chesed is tov, deliver Thou me.

22

כִּֽי־ For עָנִ֣י SDBH [am] poor וְאֶבְי֣וֹן SDBH and needy אָנֹ֑כִי SDBH I וְ֝לִבִּ֗י SDBH my heart חָלַ֥ל SDBH is wounded בְּקִרְבִּֽי׃ SDBH within me

For I am oni and evyon, and my lev is wounded within me.

23

כְּצֵל־ SDBH shadow כִּנְטוֹת֥וֹ SDBH like a lengthening נֶהֱלָ֑כְתִּי SDBH I am fading away נִ֝נְעַ֗רְתִּי SDBH I am shaken off כָּֽאַרְבֶּֽה׃ SDBH like a locust

I am gone like a lengthening tzel (shadow); I am shaken off like the arbeh.

24

בִּ֭רְכַּי SDBH My knees כָּשְׁל֣וּ SDBH are weak מִצּ֑וֹם SDBH from fasting וּ֝בְשָׂרִ֗י SDBH and my body כָּחַ֥שׁ SDBH grows lean מִשָּֽׁמֶן׃ SDBH and gaunt

My knees are weak from a tzom; and my basar faileth of fatness.

25

וַאֲנִ֤י׀ SDBH I הָיִ֣יתִי am חֶרְפָּ֣ה SDBH an object of scorn לָהֶ֑ם to [my accusers] יִ֝רְא֗וּנִי SDBH when they see me יְנִיע֥וּן SDBH they shake רֹאשָֽׁם׃ SDBH their heads

I became also a cherpah (reproach) unto them; when they looked upon me, they shaked their heads.

26

עָ֭זְרֵנִי SDBH Help me יְהוָ֣ה SDBH Hashem/Adonoi אֱלֹהָ֑י SDBH my G-d ה֭וֹשִׁיעֵ֣נִי SDBH save me כְחַסְדֶּֽךָ׃ SDBH according to Your loving devotion

Help me, O Hashem Elohai; O hoshi'eini (save me) according to Thy chesed;

27

וְֽ֭יֵדְעוּ SDBH Let them know כִּי־ that this יָ֣דְךָ SDBH [is] Your hand זֹּ֑את SDBH that אַתָּ֖ה SDBH You יְהוָ֣ה SDBH Hashem/Adonoi עֲשִׂיתָֽהּ׃ SDBH have done it

That they may know that this is Thy Yad; that Thou, Hashem, hast done it.

28

יְקַֽלְלוּ־ SDBH curse הֵמָּה֮ SDBH Though they וְאַתָּ֪ה SDBH You תְבָ֫רֵ֥ךְ SDBH will bless קָ֤מוּ׀ SDBH When they rise up וַיֵּבֹ֗שׁוּ SDBH they will be put to shame וְֽעַבְדְּךָ֥ SDBH but Your servant יִשְׂמָֽח׃ SDBH will rejoice

Let them make kelalah (curse), but do Thou make bracha; when they arise, let them be ashamed; but let Thy eved rejoice.

29

יִלְבְּשׁ֣וּ SDBH be clothed שׂוֹטְנַ֣י SDBH May my accusers כְּלִמָּ֑ה SDBH with disgrace וְיַעֲט֖וּ SDBH may they wear כַמְעִ֣יל SDBH like a robe בָּשְׁתָּֽם׃ SDBH their shame

Let mine adversaries be clothed with shame, and let them cover themselves with their own shame, as with a me'il (cloak).

30

א֘וֹדֶ֤ה SDBH I will thank יְהוָ֣ה SDBH Hashem/Adonoi מְאֹ֣ד profusely בְּפִ֑י SDBH With my mouth וּבְת֖וֹךְ SDBH in the presence רַבִּ֣ים SDBH of many אֲהַֽלְלֶֽנּוּ׃ SDBH I will praise Him

I will greatly praise Hashem with my mouth; and, I will praise Him among the multitude.

31

כִּֽי־ For יַ֭עֲמֹד SDBH He stands לִימִ֣ין SDBH at the right hand אֶבְי֑וֹן SDBH of the needy one לְ֝הוֹשִׁ֗יעַ SDBH to save him מִשֹּׁפְטֵ֥י SDBH from the condemners נַפְשֽׁוֹ׃ SDBH of his soul

For He shall stand at the yamin (right hand) of the evyon (needy), to save him from those that judge with condemnation his nefesh [cf Mt 9:10-11].
