הֹד֣וּ SDBH Give thanks לַיהוָ֣ה SDBH Hashem/Adonoi כִּי־ for ט֑וֹב SDBH He is good כִּ֖י . . . לְעוֹלָ֣ם SDBH endures forever חַסְדּֽוֹ׃ SDBH His loving devotion
Praise Hashem! O give thanks unto Hashem, for He is tov; ki l'olam chasdo (for His mercy endureth forever).

יֹ֭אמְרוּ SDBH say so גְּאוּלֵ֣י SDBH Let the redeemed יְהוָ֑ה SDBH Hashem/Adonoi אֲשֶׁ֥ר SDBH whom גְּ֝אָלָ֗ם SDBH He has redeemed מִיַּד־ SDBH from the hand צָֽר׃ SDBH of the enemy
Let the Geulei Hashem (the redeemed of Hashem) say so, whom He hath redeemed from the yad tzar;
And gathered them out of the lands, from the mizrach (east), and from the ma'arav (west), from the tzafon (north), and from the yam (sea).
They wandered in the midbar in a desolate region; they found no derech to an ir moshav (inhabited city).

רְעֵבִ֥ים SDBH They were hungry גַּם־ SDBH and צְמֵאִ֑ים SDBH thirsty נַ֝פְשָׁ֗ם SDBH their soul בָּהֶ֥ם within them תִּתְעַטָּֽף׃ SDBH fainted
Re'evim (hungry) and tzeme'im (thirsty), their nefesh fainted within them.

וַיִּצְעֲק֣וּ SDBH Then they cried out אֶל־ to יְ֭הוָה SDBH Hashem/Adonoi בַּצַּ֣ר SDBH in their trouble לָהֶ֑ם them מִ֝מְּצֽוּקוֹתֵיהֶ֗ם SDBH from their distress יַצִּילֵֽם׃ SDBH [and] He delivered
Then they cried unto Hashem in their tzoros, and He delivered them out of their distresses.
And He led them forth by the derech yesharah that they might go to an ir moshav.
8
יוֹד֣וּ SDBH Let them give thanks לַיהוָ֣ה SDBH Hashem/Adonoi חַסְדּ֑וֹ SDBH for His loving devotion וְ֝נִפְלְאוֹתָ֗יו SDBH and His wonders לִבְנֵ֥י SDBH to the sons אָדָֽם׃ SDBH of men
Oh that men would praise Hashem for His chesed, and for His nifla'ot (wonderful works) to the Bnei Adam!
For He satisfieth the longing nefesh, and filleth the hungry nefesh with the tov.

יֹ֭שְׁבֵי SDBH Some sat חֹ֣שֶׁךְ SDBH in darkness וְצַלְמָ֑וֶת SDBH and in the shadow of death אֲסִירֵ֖י SDBH prisoners עֳנִ֣י SDBH in affliction וּבַרְזֶֽל׃ SDBH and chains
Such as sit in choshech and in tzalmavet, being bound in oni and barzel (iron);

כִּֽי־ because הִמְר֥וּ SDBH they rebelled אִמְרֵי־ SDBH against the words אֵ֑ל SDBH of G-d וַעֲצַ֖ת SDBH the counsel עֶלְי֣וֹן SDBH of the Most High נָאָֽצוּ׃ SDBH and despised
Because they rebelled against the words of G-d, and despised the atzat Elyon (counsel of the Most High);

וַיַּכְנַ֣ע SDBH He humbled בֶּעָמָ֣ל SDBH with hard labor לִבָּ֑ם SDBH their hearts כָּ֝שְׁל֗וּ SDBH they stumbled וְאֵ֣ין SDBH and there was no עֹזֵֽר׃ SDBH one to help
Therefore He brought down their lev with amal (toil); they stumbled, and there was no ozer (helper).

וַיִּזְעֲק֣וּ SDBH Then they cried out אֶל־ to יְ֭הוָה SDBH Hashem/Adonoi בַּצַּ֣ר SDBH in their trouble לָהֶ֑ם them מִ֝מְּצֻֽקוֹתֵיהֶ֗ם SDBH from their distress יוֹשִׁיעֵֽם׃ SDBH [and] He saved
Then they cried out unto Hashem in their tzoros, and He saved them out of their distresses.
14
יֽ֭וֹצִיאֵם SDBH He brought them out מֵחֹ֣שֶׁךְ SDBH of darkness וְצַלְמָ֑וֶת SDBH and the shadow of death וּמוֹסְר֖וֹתֵיהֶ֣ם SDBH and broke away their chains יְנַתֵּֽק׃ SDBH . . .
He brought them out of choshech and tzalmavet, and broke apart their chains.
15
יוֹד֣וּ SDBH Let them give thanks לַיהוָ֣ה SDBH Hashem/Adonoi חַסְדּ֑וֹ SDBH for His loving devotion וְ֝נִפְלְאוֹתָ֗יו SDBH and His wonders לִבְנֵ֥י SDBH to the sons אָדָֽם׃ SDBH of men
Oh that men would praise Hashem for His chesed, and for His nifla'ot (wonderful works) to the Bnei Adam!
For He hath broken down the dlatot nechoshet, and cut asunder the bars of barzel (iron).
Fools because of their derech peysha, and because of their avonot (iniquities), were afflicted.
Their nefesh abhorreth all manner of ochel (food); and they drew near unto the sha'arei mavet (gates of death).

וַיִּזְעֲק֣וּ SDBH Then they cried out אֶל־ to יְ֭הוָה SDBH Hashem/Adonoi בַּצַּ֣ר SDBH in their trouble לָהֶ֑ם . . . מִ֝מְּצֻֽקוֹתֵיהֶ֗ם SDBH from their distress יוֹשִׁיעֵֽם׃ SDBH [and] He saved them
Then they cried unto Hashem in their tzoros, and He saveth them out of their distresses.
He sent His Davar, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions [See Yn 1:1, 14; Mt 4:23].

יוֹד֣וּ SDBH Let them give thanks לַיהוָ֣ה SDBH Hashem/Adonoi חַסְדּ֑וֹ SDBH for His loving devotion וְ֝נִפְלְאוֹתָ֗יו SDBH and His wonders לִבְנֵ֥י SDBH to the sons אָדָֽם׃׆ SDBH of men
Oh that men would praise Hashem for His chesed, and for His nifla'ot (wonderful works) to the Bnei Adam!
And let them sacrifice the zivkhei todah (sacrifices of thanksgiving), and recount His works with joyful singing.
They that go down to the yam in oniyot (ships), that do business on mayim rabbim (great waters);
These have seen the ma'asei Hashem, and His nifla'ot (wonders) in the deep.
For He commandeth, and raiseth up a ruach sa'arah (stormy wind), which lifteth up the galim (waves) thereof.

יַעֲל֣וּ SDBH They mounted up שָׁ֭מַיִם SDBH to the heavens יֵרְד֣וּ SDBH [then] sunk תְהוֹמ֑וֹת SDBH to the depths נַ֝פְשָׁ֗ם SDBH their courage בְּרָעָ֥ה SDBH in their anguish תִתְמוֹגָֽג׃ SDBH melted
They [the galim] mount up to Shomayim, they went down again to the tehomot (depths); their nefesh melted in ra'ah (peril, trouble).
They reeled and staggered like a shikkor, and were at their wit's end.
28
וַיִּצְעֲק֣וּ SDBH Then they cried out אֶל־ to יְ֭הוָה SDBH Hashem/Adonoi בַּצַּ֣ר SDBH in their trouble לָהֶ֑ם out וּֽ֝מִמְּצֽוּקֹתֵיהֶ֗ם SDBH of their distress יוֹצִיאֵֽם׃ SDBH and He brought them
Then they cried unto Hashem in their tzoros, and He brought them out of their distresses.
29
יָקֵ֣ם SDBH He calmed סְ֭עָרָה SDBH the storm לִדְמָמָ֑ה SDBH to a whisper וַ֝יֶּחֱשׁ֗וּ SDBH were hushed גַּלֵּיהֶֽם׃ SDBH and the waves of the sea
He made the sa'arah (storm) a calm, so that the galim (waves) thereof were still [Mk 4:41].
Then were they glad because they were quiet; so He brought them unto their makhoz chefetz (desired haven, city, district, boundary).

יוֹד֣וּ SDBH Let them give thanks לַיהוָ֣ה SDBH Hashem/Adonoi חַסְדּ֑וֹ SDBH for His loving devotion וְ֝נִפְלְאוֹתָ֗יו SDBH and His wonders לִבְנֵ֥י SDBH to the sons אָדָֽם׃ SDBH of men
Oh that men would praise Hashem for His chesed, and for His nifla'ot (wonderful works) to the Bnei Adam!
32
וִֽ֭ירֹמְמוּהוּ SDBH Let them exalt Him בִּקְהַל־ SDBH in the assembly עָ֑ם SDBH of the people וּבְמוֹשַׁ֖ב SDBH in the council זְקֵנִ֣ים SDBH of the elders יְהַלְלֽוּהוּ׃ SDBH and praise Him
Let them exalt Him also in the Kehal Am, and praise Him in the moshav zekenim (council of the elders).
He turneth neharot (rivers) into a midbar, and the springs of water into dry ground; [
34
אֶ֣רֶץ SDBH land פְּ֭רִי SDBH [and] fruitful לִמְלֵחָ֑ה SDBH into fields of salt מֵ֝רָעַ֗ת SDBH because of the wickedness יֹ֣שְׁבֵי SDBH of its dwellers בָֽהּ׃
An eretz p'ri (fruitful land) into salt wasteland, because of the wickedness of them that dwell therein.
He turneth the midbar into an agam (pool, lake) of mayim, and dry ground into springs of water.
36
וַיּ֣וֹשֶׁב SDBH to settle שָׁ֣ם SDBH there רְעֵבִ֑ים SDBH He causes the hungry וַ֝יְכוֹנְנ֗וּ SDBH that they may establish עִ֣יר SDBH a city מוֹשָֽׁב׃ SDBH in which to dwell
And there He maketh the hungry to dwell, that they may found an ir moshav (an inhabited city);
And sow the sadot, and plant kramim, and acquire p'ri tevu'ah (fruits of increase).
38
וַיְבָרֲכֵ֣ם SDBH He blesses them וַיִּרְבּ֣וּ and they multiply מְאֹ֑ד greatly וּ֝בְהֶמְתָּ֗ם SDBH let their herds לֹ֣א SDBH He does not יַמְעִֽיט׃ SDBH diminish
He made a bracha on them also, so that they are multiplied greatly; and He doth not permit their behemah to decrease.
39
Again, they are diminished and brought low through otzer (oppression), ra'ah (calamity, peril, trouble) and yagon (sorrow, grief).
40
שֹׁפֵ֣ךְ SDBH He pours out בּ֭וּז SDBH contempt עַל־ on נְדִיבִ֑ים SDBH the nobles וַ֝יַּתְעֵ֗ם SDBH and makes them wander בְּתֹ֣הוּ SDBH wasteland לֹא־ SDBH in a trackless דָֽרֶךְ׃ SDBH . . .
He poureth contempt upon nedivim (nobles), and causeth them to wander in the wilderness, where there is no derech.
Yet setteth He the evyon (needy) up above oni (affliction), and maketh him mishpekhot like a tzon (flock).
The yesharim (upright ones) shall see it, and rejoice with simchah; and all iniquity shall shut its mouth.
43
מִי־ SDBH Let him who חָכָ֥ם SDBH is wise וְיִשְׁמָר־ SDBH pay heed אֵ֑לֶּה SDBH to these things וְ֝יִתְבּֽוֹנְנ֗וּ SDBH and consider חַֽסְדֵ֥י SDBH the loving devotion יְהוָֽה׃ SDBH Hashem/Adonoi
Whosoever is chacham, and will be shomer over these things, even they shall understand the chasdei Hashem (lovingkindnesses of Hashem).
