Then Eliphaz the Temani answered and said,
If we attempt a davar with thee, wilt thou be offended? But who can withhold himself from speaking?

Hinei, thou hast instructed rabbim (many), and thou hast strengthened the weak hands.
4
כּ֭וֹשֵׁל SDBH those who stumbled יְקִימ֣וּן SDBH have steadied מִלֶּ֑יךָ SDBH Your words וּבִרְכַּ֖יִם SDBH the knees כֹּרְע֣וֹת SDBH that were buckling תְּאַמֵּֽץ׃ SDBH you have braced
Thy words have upheld him that was falling, and thou hast strengthened the feeble birkayim (knees).

כִּ֤י But עַתָּ֨ה׀ SDBH now תָּב֣וֹא SDBH [trouble] has come אֵלֶ֣יךָ upon you וַתֵּ֑לֶא SDBH and you are weary תִּגַּ֥ע SDBH It strikes you עָ֝דֶ֗יךָ SDBH . . . וַתִּבָּהֵֽל׃ SDBH and you are dismayed
But atah (now) it is come upon thee, and thou art impatient; it toucheth thee, and thou art troubled.

Is not this thy fear, thy confidence, thy tikveh, and the blamelessness of thy ways?

זְכָר־ SDBH Consider נָ֗א now, I plead מִ֤י SDBH Who ה֣וּא SDBH - נָקִ֣י SDBH being innocent אָבָ֑ד SDBH has ever perished וְ֝אֵיפֹ֗ה SDBH Or where יְשָׁרִ֥ים SDBH have the upright נִכְחָֽדוּ׃ SDBH been destroyed
Consider now, who ever perished, being naki (innocent)? Or where were the yesharim (upright ones) cut off?
Even as I have seen, they that plow iniquity, and sow amal (trouble), reap the same.

מִנִּשְׁמַ֣ת SDBH By the breath אֱל֣וֹהַ SDBH of G-d יֹאבֵ֑דוּ SDBH they perish וּמֵר֖וּחַ SDBH and by the blast אַפּ֣וֹ SDBH of His anger יִכְלֽוּ׃ SDBH they are consumed
By the neshamah (breath) of Eloah they perish, and by the ruach of His nostrils are they consumed.

שַׁאֲגַ֣ת SDBH may roar אַ֭רְיֵה SDBH The lion וְק֣וֹל SDBH may growl שָׁ֑חַל SDBH and the fierce lion וְשִׁנֵּ֖י SDBH yet the teeth כְפִירִ֣ים SDBH of the young lions נִתָּֽעוּ׃ SDBH are broken
The roaring of the aryeh, and the voice of the fierce lion, and the teeth of the young lions, are broken.

לַ֭יִשׁ SDBH The old lion אֹבֵ֣ד SDBH perishes מִבְּלִי־ SDBH for lack טָ֑רֶף SDBH of prey וּבְנֵ֥י SDBH and the cubs לָ֝בִ֗יא SDBH of the lioness יִתְפָּרָֽדוּ׃ SDBH are scattered
The old lion perisheth for lack of teref (prey), and the stout lion's cubs are scattered.
Now a davar was secretly brought to me, and mine ear received a whisper thereof.
In thoughts from the chezyonot lailah, when tardemah (deep sleep) falleth on anashim,
Pachad came upon me, and trembling, which made all my atzmot to shake. [
Then a ruach passed before my face; the hair of my basar stood up;
It stood still, but I could not discern the appearance thereof; a temunah (form) was before mine eyes, there was silence, and I heard a voice, saying,
Shall enosh (mortal man) be more righteous than Eloah? Shall a man be more tahor than his Maker?
Behold, He puts no trust in His avadim, and His malachim (angels) He charged with toholah (error).

אַ֤ף׀ SDBH how much more שֹׁכְנֵ֬י SDBH those who dwell בָֽתֵּי־ SDBH in houses חֹ֗מֶר SDBH of clay אֲשֶׁר־ SDBH whose בֶּעָפָ֥ר SDBH are in the dust יְסוֹדָ֑ם SDBH foundations יְ֝דַכְּא֗וּם SDBH who can be crushed לִפְנֵי־ . . . עָֽשׁ׃ SDBH like a moth
How much more them that dwell in batim (houses) of clay, whose yesod (foundation, origin) is in the dust, which are crushed like the moth?
They are destroyed from boker to erev; they perish forever without any regarding it.

הֲלֹא־ SDBH - נִסַּ֣ע SDBH pulled up יִתְרָ֣ם SDBH Are not their tent cords בָּ֑ם יָ֝מ֗וּתוּ SDBH so that they die וְלֹ֣א SDBH without בְחָכְמָֽה׃ SDBH wisdom
Is not the cord of their tent which is in them pulled up? They die, even without chochmah (wisdom).
