Iyov 29 — Hebrew–OJB Interlinear

וַיֹּ֣סֶף SDBH continued אִ֭יּוֹב SDBH And Job שְׂאֵ֥ת SDBH . . . מְשָׁל֗וֹ SDBH his discourse וַיֹּאמַֽר׃ SDBH . . .

Moreover Iyov continued his mashal, and said,

מִֽי־ SDBH How I long יִתְּנֵ֥נִי . . . כְיַרְחֵי־ SDBH for the months קֶ֑דֶם SDBH gone by כִּ֝ימֵ֗י SDBH for the days אֱל֣וֹהַּ SDBH when G-d יִשְׁמְרֵֽנִי׃ SDBH watched over me

Oh that I were as in months past, as in the days when Eloah was shomer over me;

בְּהִלּ֣וֹ SDBH shone נֵ֭רוֹ SDBH when His lamp עֲלֵ֣י above רֹאשִׁ֑י SDBH my head לְ֝אוֹרוֹ SDBH and by His light אֵ֣לֶךְ SDBH I walked חֹֽשֶׁךְ׃ SDBH through the darkness

When His ner (lamp) shined upon my rosh, and when by His ohr I walked through choshech;

כַּאֲשֶׁ֣ר SDBH when הָ֭יִיתִי I was בִּימֵ֣י SDBH vvv חָרְפִּ֑י SDBH in my prime בְּס֥וֹד SDBH when the friendship אֱ֝ל֗וֹהַּ SDBH of G-d עֲלֵ֣י rested on אָהֳלִֽי׃ SDBH my tent

As I was in the days of my prime, when the Sod Eloah (friendship, counsel of G-d) was over my ohel;

בְּע֣וֹד was still שַׁ֭דַּי SDBH when the Almighty עִמָּדִ֑י with me סְבִ֖יבוֹתַ֣י were around me נְעָרָֽי׃ SDBH and my children

When Shaddai was yet with me, when my children were around me;

6

בִּרְחֹ֣ץ SDBH were bathed הֲלִיכַ֣י SDBH when my steps בְּחֵמָ֑ה SDBH in cream וְצ֥וּר SDBH and the rock יָצ֥וּק SDBH poured out עִ֝מָּדִ֗י for me פַּלְגֵי־ SDBH streams שָֽׁמֶן׃ SDBH of oil

When I washed my steps with khemah, and the tzur poured me out streams of shemen;

בְּצֵ֣אתִי SDBH When I went out שַׁ֣עַר SDBH gate עֲלֵי־ . . . קָ֑רֶת SDBH to the city בָּ֝רְח֗וֹב SDBH in the public square אָכִ֥ין SDBH and took מוֹשָׁבִֽי׃ SDBH my seat

When I went out to the sha'ar through the city, when I took my moshav in the rekhov!

רָא֣וּנִי SDBH saw me נְעָרִ֣ים SDBH the young men וְנֶחְבָּ֑אוּ SDBH and withdrew וִֽ֝ישִׁישִׁים SDBH and the old men קָ֣מוּ SDBH rose עָמָֽדוּ׃ SDBH to their feet

The ne'arim saw me, and stepped aside, and the aged arose, and stood up.

שָׂ֭רִים SDBH The princes עָצְר֣וּ SDBH refrained בְמִלִּ֑ים SDBH from speaking וְ֝כַ֗ף SDBH with their hands יָשִׂ֥ימוּ SDBH and covered לְפִיהֶֽם׃ SDBH their mouths

The sarim (nobles) refrained from talking, and laid their hand on their mouth.

קוֹל־ SDBH The voices נְגִידִ֥ים SDBH of the nobles נֶחְבָּ֑אוּ SDBH were hushed וּ֝לְשׁוֹנָ֗ם SDBH and their tongues לְחִכָּ֥ם SDBH to the roofs of their mouths דָּבֵֽקָה׃ SDBH stuck

The nobles held their peace, and their leshon cleaved to the roof of their mouth.

11

כִּ֤י For אֹ֣זֶן SDBH those שָׁ֭מְעָה SDBH who heard me וַֽתְּאַשְּׁרֵ֑נִי SDBH called me blessed וְעַ֥יִן SDBH and those who רָ֝אֲתָ֗ה SDBH saw me וַתְּעִידֵֽנִי׃ SDBH commended me

When the ozen heard me, then it commended me; and when the ayin saw me, it did bear witness of me,

כִּֽי־ because אֲ֭מַלֵּט SDBH I rescued עָנִ֣י SDBH the poor מְשַׁוֵּ֑עַ SDBH who cried out וְ֝יָת֗וֹם SDBH and the fatherless וְֽלֹא־ SDBH who had no עֹזֵ֥ר SDBH helper לֽוֹ׃

Because I delivered the oni that cried out, and the yatom that had no ozer (helper) for him.

13

בִּרְכַּ֣ת SDBH blessed me אֹ֭בֵד SDBH The dying man עָלַ֣י . . . תָּבֹ֑א SDBH . . . וְלֵ֖ב SDBH heart אַלְמָנָ֣ה SDBH and I made the widow’s אַרְנִֽן׃ SDBH sing for joy

The birkat oved (blessing of the oppressed) came upon me, and I caused the lev almanah to sing for joy.

צֶ֣דֶק SDBH righteousness לָ֭בַשְׁתִּי SDBH I put on וַיִּלְבָּשֵׁ֑נִי SDBH and it clothed me כִּֽמְעִ֥יל SDBH was my robe וְ֝צָנִ֗יף SDBH and my turban מִשְׁפָּטִֽי׃ SDBH justice

I put on tzedek, and it clothed me; my mishpat was as a robe and a tzanif (turban).

15

עֵינַ֣יִם SDBH eyes הָ֭יִיתִי I [served as] לַֽעִוֵּ֑ר SDBH to the blind וְרַגְלַ֖יִם SDBH as feet לַפִּסֵּ֣חַ SDBH to the lame אָֽנִי׃ SDBH [and]

I was eyes to the ivver, and feet was I to the pisei'ach.

16

אָ֣ב SDBH was a father אָ֭נֹכִֽי SDBH I לָֽאֶבְיוֹנִ֑ים SDBH to the needy וְרִ֖ב SDBH the case לֹא־ SDBH of the stranger יָדַ֣עְתִּי SDBH . . . אֶחְקְרֵֽהוּ׃ SDBH and I took up

I was an av to the evyonim (needy); and the cause which I knew not I investigated.

17

וָֽ֭אֲשַׁבְּרָה SDBH I shattered מְתַלְּע֣וֹת SDBH the fangs עַוָּ֑ל SDBH of the unjust וּ֝מִשִּׁנָּ֗יו SDBH from his teeth אַשְׁלִ֥יךְ SDBH and snatched טָֽרֶף׃ SDBH the prey

And I broke the fangs of the wicked, and plucked the prey out of his shinayim.

18

וָ֭אֹמַר SDBH So I thought עִם־ in קִנִּ֣י SDBH my nest אֶגְוָ֑ע SDBH I will die וְ֝כַח֗וֹל SDBH as the sand אַרְבֶּ֥ה and multiply יָמִֽים׃ SDBH my days

Then I said, I shall die in my ken (nest, house), and I shall multiply my yamim like the chol (sand).

19

שָׁרְשִׁ֣י SDBH My roots פָת֣וּחַ SDBH [will] spread out אֱלֵי־ to מָ֑יִם SDBH the waters וְ֝טַ֗ל SDBH and the dew יָלִ֥ין SDBH will rest nightly בִּקְצִירִֽי׃ SDBH on my branches

My shoresh was spread out to the mayim, and the tal lay all night upon my branch.

20

כְּ֭בוֹדִי SDBH My glory חָדָ֣שׁ SDBH is [ever] new עִמָּדִ֑י within me וְ֝קַשְׁתִּ֗י SDBH and my bow בְּיָדִ֥י SDBH in my hand תַחֲלִֽיף׃ SDBH is renewed

My kavod was fresh with me, and my keshet was ever new in my yad.

21

לִֽי־ to me שָׁמְע֥וּ SDBH Men listened וְיִחֵ֑לּוּ SDBH with expectation וְ֝יִדְּמ֗וּ SDBH waiting silently לְמ֣וֹ for עֲצָתִֽי׃ SDBH my counsel

Unto me men gave ear, and waited, and kept silence at my etzah (counsel).

22

אַחֲרֵ֣י SDBH After דְ֭בָרִי SDBH my words לֹ֣א SDBH no more יִשְׁנ֑וּ SDBH they spoke וְ֝עָלֵ֗ימוֹ on them like dew תִּטֹּ֥ף SDBH settled מִלָּתִֽי׃ SDBH my speech

Acharei (after) my words they spoke not again; and my speech fell upon them.

23

וְיִֽחֲל֣וּ SDBH They waited כַמָּטָ֣ר SDBH for me as for rain לִ֑י וּ֝פִיהֶ֗ם SDBH . . . פָּעֲר֥וּ SDBH and drank in my words לְמַלְקֽוֹשׁ׃ SDBH like spring showers

And they waited for me as for the matar; and they opened their mouth wide as for the malkosh (spring, late rain).

24

אֶשְׂחַ֣ק SDBH If I smiled אֲ֭לֵהֶם at them לֹ֣א SDBH they did not יַאֲמִ֑ינוּ SDBH believe it וְא֥וֹר SDBH the light פָּ֝נַ֗י of my countenance לֹ֣א SDBH vvv יַפִּילֽוּן׃ SDBH was precious

I smiled on them when they did not believe; and the ohr of my countenance they did not cast down.

25

אֶֽבֲחַ֣ר SDBH I chose דַּרְכָּם֮ SDBH their course וְאֵשֵׁ֪ב SDBH and presided רֹ֥אשׁ SDBH as chief וְ֭אֶשְׁכּוֹן SDBH So I dwelt כְּמֶ֣לֶךְ SDBH as a king בַּגְּד֑וּד SDBH among his troops כַּאֲשֶׁ֖ר SDBH as a comforter אֲבֵלִ֣ים SDBH of the mourners יְנַחֵֽם׃ SDBH . . .

I chose out their derech, and sat as Rosh, and dwelt as a melech with his army, as one that comforteth the avelim (mourners).
