Iyov 28 — Hebrew–OJB Interlinear

כִּ֤י Surely יֵ֣שׁ there is לַכֶּ֣סֶף SDBH for silver מוֹצָ֑א SDBH a mine וּ֝מָק֗וֹם SDBH and a place לַזָּהָ֥ב SDBH where gold יָזֹֽקּוּ׃ SDBH is refined

Surely there is a mine for the kesef, and a makom for zahav where they refine it.

בַּ֭רְזֶל SDBH Iron מֵעָפָ֣ר SDBH from the earth יֻקָּ֑ח SDBH is taken וְ֝אֶ֗בֶן SDBH from ore יָצ֥וּק SDBH is smelted נְחוּשָֽׁה׃ SDBH and copper

Barzel (iron) is taken out of aphar, and nechoshet is smelted out of the even (stone, ore).

קֵ֤ץ׀ SDBH an end שָׂ֤ם SDBH [Man] puts לַחֹ֗שֶׁךְ SDBH to the darkness וּֽלְכָל־ the farthest recesses תַּ֭כְלִית SDBH . . . ה֣וּא SDBH he חוֹקֵ֑ר SDBH probes אֶ֖בֶן SDBH for ore אֹ֣פֶל SDBH in deepest darkness וְצַלְמָֽוֶת׃ SDBH . . .

He setteth a ketz to choshech, and searcheth out all extremities, the even (ore) of darkness and tzalmavet.

פָּ֤רַץ SDBH he cuts נַ֨חַל׀ SDBH a shaft מֵֽעִם־ . . . גָּ֗ר SDBH human habitation הַֽנִּשְׁכָּחִ֥ים SDBH in places forgotten מִנִּי־ Far from רָ֑גֶל SDBH by the foot of man דַּ֖לּוּ SDBH he dangles מֵאֱנ֣וֹשׁ SDBH Far from men נָֽעוּ׃ SDBH and sways

He cuts out a shaft down far from the inhabitant; forgotten of the regel, they dangle, suspended, away from enosh.

אֶ֗רֶץ SDBH the earth מִמֶּ֥נָּה from יֵֽצֵא־ SDBH may come לָ֑חֶם SDBH Food וְ֝תַחְתֶּ֗יהָ SDBH but from below נֶהְפַּ֥ךְ SDBH it is transformed כְּמוֹ־ SDBH as אֵֽשׁ׃ SDBH by fire

As for eretz, out of it cometh lechem, and under it is transformed as by eish.

מְקוֹם־ SDBH are the source סַפִּ֥יר SDBH of sapphires אֲבָנֶ֑יהָ SDBH Its rocks וְעַפְרֹ֖ת SDBH containing flecks זָהָ֣ב SDBH of gold לֽוֹ׃

The stones of it are the makom of the sapphire, and it hath ore of zahav.

נָ֭תִיב SDBH that path לֹֽא־ SDBH No יְדָ֣עוֹ SDBH knows עָ֑יִט SDBH bird of prey וְלֹ֥א SDBH no שְׁ֝זָפַ֗תּוּ SDBH has seen it עֵ֣ין SDBH eye אַיָּֽה׃ SDBH falcon’s

There is a hidden path of which no bird of prey has da'as, and which the falcon's eye hath not seen.

לֹֽא־ SDBH have never הִדְרִיכֻ֥הוּ SDBH trodden it בְנֵי־ SDBH Proud beasts שָׁ֑חַץ SDBH . . . לֹֽא־ SDBH no עָדָ֖ה SDBH has ever prowled עָלָ֣יו over it שָֽׁחַל׃ SDBH lion

The proud beasts have not trodden it, nor the shachal (lion's cub) passed over it.

בַּֽ֭חַלָּמִישׁ SDBH the flint שָׁלַ֣ח SDBH The miner strikes יָד֑וֹ SDBH . . . הָפַ֖ךְ SDBH he overturns מִשֹּׁ֣רֶשׁ SDBH at their base הָרִֽים׃ SDBH mountains

He [the miner] putteth forth his yad upon the rock; he upturneth the mountains by the shoresh.

בַּ֭צּוּרוֹת SDBH in the rocks יְאֹרִ֣ים SDBH channels בִּקֵּ֑עַ SDBH He hews out וְכָל־ every יְ֝קָ֗ר SDBH treasure רָאֲתָ֥ה SDBH spot עֵינֽוֹ׃ SDBH and his eyes

He cutteth out channels through the tzurot (rocks), and his eye seeth every precious thing.

מִ֭בְּכִי SDBH the sources נְהָר֣וֹת SDBH of the streams חִבֵּ֑שׁ SDBH He stops up וְ֝תַעֲלֻמָ֗הּ SDBH what is hidden יֹ֣צִא SDBH to bring אֽוֹר׃פ SDBH to light

He dams up the streams from flowing, and the thing that is hidden bringeth he forth to ohr.

וְֽ֭הַחָכְמָה SDBH can wisdom מֵאַ֣יִן SDBH But where תִּמָּצֵ֑א SDBH be found וְאֵ֥י SDBH and where זֶ֝ה SDBH . . . מְק֣וֹם SDBH dwell בִּינָֽה׃ SDBH does understanding

But where shall chochmah be found? And where is the makom binah?

לֹא־ SDBH No יָדַ֣ע SDBH can know אֱנ֣וֹשׁ SDBH man עֶרְכָּ֑הּ SDBH its value וְלֹ֥א SDBH nor תִ֝מָּצֵ֗א SDBH is it found בְּאֶ֣רֶץ SDBH in the land הַֽחַיִּֽים׃ SDBH of the living

Enosh knoweth not the price thereof; neither is it found in the Eretz HaChayyim.

14

תְּה֣וֹם SDBH The ocean depths אָ֭מַר SDBH say לֹ֣א SDBH not בִי־ in me הִ֑יא SDBH It [is] וְיָ֥ם SDBH while the sea אָ֝מַ֗ר SDBH declares אֵ֣ין SDBH [It is] not עִמָּדִֽי׃ with me

The tehom (abyss) saith, It is not in me; and the yam saith, It is not with me.

15

לֹא־ SDBH It cannot יֻתַּ֣ן be bought סְג֣וֹר SDBH gold תַּחְתֶּ֑יהָ SDBH with וְלֹ֥א SDBH nor [can] יִ֝שָּׁקֵ֗ל SDBH be weighed out כֶּ֣סֶף SDBH in silver מְחִירָֽהּ׃ SDBH its price

It cannot be gotten in exchange for fine gold, neither shall kesef be weighed for the price thereof.

16

לֹֽא־ SDBH It cannot תְ֭סֻלֶּה SDBH be valued בְּכֶ֣תֶם SDBH in the gold אוֹפִ֑יר SDBH of Ophir בְּשֹׁ֖הַם SDBH onyx יָקָ֣ר SDBH in precious וְסַפִּֽיר׃ SDBH or sapphire

It cannot be valued with the fine gold of Ophir, with the precious onyx, or the sapphire.

17

לֹא־ SDBH Neither יַעַרְכֶ֣נָּה SDBH can compare to it זָ֭הָב SDBH gold וּזְכוֹכִ֑ית SDBH nor crystal וּתְמ֖וּרָתָ֣הּ SDBH be exchanged for it כְּלִי־ SDBH nor jewels פָֽז׃ SDBH of fine gold

The zahav and the crystal cannot equal it, and the exchange of it shall not be for the jewel of gold.

18

רָאמ֣וֹת SDBH Coral וְ֭גָבִישׁ SDBH and quartz לֹ֣א SDBH are unworthy יִזָּכֵ֑ר SDBH of mention וּמֶ֥שֶׁךְ SDBH the price חָ֝כְמָ֗ה SDBH of wisdom [is] מִפְּנִינִֽים׃ SDBH beyond rubies

Nor shall mention be made of coral or crystal, for the price of chochmah is above pearls.

19

לֹֽא־ SDBH cannot יַ֭עַרְכֶנָּה SDBH compare to it פִּטְדַת־ SDBH Topaz כּ֑וּשׁ SDBH from Cush בְּכֶ֥תֶם SDBH gold טָ֝ה֗וֹר SDBH in pure לֹ֣א SDBH nor can it תְסֻלֶּֽה׃פ SDBH be valued

The chrysolite of Ethiopia shall not equal it, neither shall it be valued with tahor gold.

20

וְֽ֭הַחָכְמָה SDBH then does wisdom מֵאַ֣יִן SDBH From where תָּב֑וֹא SDBH come וְאֵ֥י SDBH and where זֶ֝֗ה SDBH . . . מְק֣וֹם SDBH dwell בִּינָֽה׃ SDBH does understanding

From where then cometh chochmah? And where is the makom binah?

21

וְֽ֭נֶעֶלְמָה SDBH It is hidden מֵעֵינֵ֣י SDBH from the eyes כָל־ of every חָ֑י SDBH living thing וּמֵע֖וֹף SDBH from the birds הַשָּׁמַ֣יִם SDBH of the air נִסְתָּֽרָה׃ SDBH and concealed

Seeing it is hidden from the eyes of kol chai, and concealed from the oph HaShomayim.

22

אֲבַדּ֣וֹן SDBH Abaddon וָ֭מָוֶת SDBH and Death אָ֣מְר֑וּ SDBH say בְּ֝אָזְנֵ֗ינוּ SDBH - שָׁמַ֥עְנוּ SDBH We have heard שִׁמְעָֽהּ׃ SDBH a rumor about it

Abaddon and Mavet say, We have heard a rumor thereof with our ears.

23

אֱ֭לֹהִים SDBH But G-d הֵבִ֣ין SDBH understands דַּרְכָּ֑הּ SDBH its way וְ֝ה֗וּא SDBH and He יָדַ֥ע SDBH knows אֶת־ SDBH - מְקוֹמָֽהּ׃ SDBH its place

Elohim understandeth the way to it, and He knoweth the makom thereof.

24

כִּי־ For ה֭וּא SDBH He לִקְצוֹת־ SDBH to the ends הָאָ֣רֶץ SDBH of the earth יַבִּ֑יט SDBH looks תַּ֖חַת SDBH under כָּל־ everything הַשָּׁמַ֣יִם SDBH the heavens יִרְאֶֽה׃ SDBH and sees

For He looketh to the ketzot ha'aretz, and seeth all under Shomayim.

25

לַעֲשׂ֣וֹת SDBH When G-d fixed לָר֣וּחַ SDBH of the wind מִשְׁקָ֑ל SDBH the weight וּ֝מַ֗יִם SDBH the waters תִּכֵּ֥ן SDBH vvv בְּמִדָּֽה׃ SDBH and measured out

The weight He appointed for the ruach, and He weigheth the mayim by measure.

26

בַּעֲשֹׂת֣וֹ SDBH when He set לַמָּטָ֣ר SDBH for the rain חֹ֑ק SDBH a limit וְ֝דֶ֗רֶךְ SDBH and a path לַחֲזִ֥יז SDBH for the thunderbolt קֹלֽוֹת׃ SDBH . . .

When He made a decree for the matar, and a derech for the lightning of the thunder,

27

אָ֣ז SDBH then רָ֭אָהּ SDBH He looked at [wisdom] וַֽיְסַפְּרָ֑הּ SDBH and appraised it הֱ֝כִינָ֗הּ SDBH He established it וְגַם־ SDBH . . . חֲקָרָֽהּ׃ SDBH and searched it out

Az (then) did He see it, and declare it; He prepared it, yea, and searched it out.

28

וַיֹּ֤אמֶר׀ SDBH And He said לָֽאָדָ֗ם SDBH to man הֵ֤ן Behold יִרְאַ֣ת SDBH the fear אֲ֭דֹנָי SDBH of the Lord הִ֣יא SDBH that [is] חָכְמָ֑ה SDBH wisdom וְס֖וּר SDBH and to turn away מֵרָ֣ע SDBH from evil בִּינָֽה׃ס SDBH [is] understanding

And unto adam He said, See, the Yirat Adonoi, that is chochmah, and to depart from rah is binah.
