Iyov 14 — Hebrew–OJB Interlinear

אָ֭דָם SDBH Man יְל֣וּד SDBH who is born אִשָּׁ֑ה SDBH of woman קְצַ֥ר SDBH is short יָ֝מִ֗ים SDBH of days וּֽשְׂבַֽע־ SDBH and full רֹֽגֶז׃ SDBH of trouble

Adam that is born of isha is of few yamim and full of rogez (unrest).

כְּצִ֣יץ SDBH Like a flower יָ֭צָא SDBH he comes forth וַיִּמָּ֑ל SDBH then withers away וַיִּבְרַ֥ח SDBH . . . כַּ֝צֵּ֗ל SDBH like a fleeting shadow וְלֹ֣א SDBH he does not יַעֲמֽוֹד׃ SDBH endure

He cometh forth like a tzitz (flower), and is cut down; he fleeth also as a tzel, and continueth not.

אַף־ SDBH עַל־ You זֶ֭ה SDBH to one like this פָּקַ֣חְתָּ SDBH Do You open עֵינֶ֑ךָ SDBH Your eyes וְאֹ֘תִ֤י SDBH - תָבִ֖יא SDBH Will You bring him בְמִשְׁפָּ֣ט SDBH into judgment עִמָּֽךְ׃ before

And doth Thou open Thine eyes upon such a one, and bringest me into mishpat with Thee?

מִֽי־ SDBH Who יִתֵּ֣ן can bring out טָ֭הוֹר SDBH clean מִטָּמֵ֗א SDBH from unclean לֹ֣א SDBH No אֶחָֽד׃ SDBH one

Who can bring a tahor (clean thing) out of a tameh (an unclean, cf Ro 5:12)? Loh echad (No one).

אִ֥ם SDBH Since חֲרוּצִ֨ים׀ SDBH [are] determined יָמָ֗יו SDBH his days מִֽסְפַּר־ SDBH and the number חֳדָשָׁ֥יו SDBH of his months אִתָּ֑ךְ SDBH [is] with You חֻקּוֹ SDBH limits עָ֝שִׂ֗יתָ SDBH and since You have set וְלֹ֣א SDBH that he cannot יַעֲבֽוֹר׃ SDBH exceed

Seeing his yamim are determined, the number of his chodashim (months) are with Thee, Thou hast appointed his limits that he cannot exceed.

שְׁעֵ֣ה SDBH look away מֵעָלָ֣יו from him וְיֶחְדָּ֑ל SDBH and let him rest עַד־ SDBH so יִ֝רְצֶ֗ה SDBH he can enjoy כְּשָׂכִ֥יר SDBH as a hired hand יוֹמֽוֹ׃ SDBH his day

Turn from him, that he may rest, till he shall accomplish, as a sachir (a hired man), his day.

כִּ֤י For יֵ֥שׁ there is לָעֵ֗ץ SDBH for a tree תִּ֫קְוָ֥ה SDBH hope אִֽם־ SDBH If יִ֭כָּרֵת SDBH it is cut down וְע֣וֹד again יַחֲלִ֑יף SDBH it will sprout וְ֝יֹֽנַקְתּ֗וֹ SDBH and its tender shoots לֹ֣א SDBH will not תֶחְדָּֽל׃ SDBH fail

For there is tikveh of an etz, if it be cut down, that it will sprout again, and that the tender branch thereof will not cease.

אִם־ SDBH If יַזְקִ֣ין SDBH grow old בָּאָ֣רֶץ SDBH in the ground שָׁרְשׁ֑וֹ SDBH its roots וּ֝בֶעָפָ֗ר SDBH in the soil יָמ֥וּת SDBH dies גִּזְעֽוֹ׃ SDBH and its stump

Though the shoresh (root) thereof grow old in ha'aretz, and the stump thereof die in the aphar (dust),

מֵרֵ֣יחַ SDBH at the scent מַ֣יִם SDBH of water יַפְרִ֑חַ SDBH it will bud וְעָשָׂ֖ה SDBH and put forth קָצִ֣יר SDBH twigs כְּמוֹ־ SDBH like נָֽטַע׃ SDBH a sapling

Yet through the scent of mayim it will bud, and bring forth branches like a young plant.

10

וְגֶ֣בֶר SDBH But a man יָ֭מוּת SDBH dies וַֽיֶּחֱלָ֑שׁ SDBH and is laid low וַיִּגְוַ֖ע SDBH breathes his last אָדָ֣ם SDBH he וְאַיּֽוֹ׃ SDBH and where [is] he

But gever dieth, and wasteth away; yea, adam breathes his last, and where is he?

אָֽזְלוּ־ SDBH disappears מַ֭יִם SDBH As water מִנִּי־ from יָ֑ם SDBH the sea וְ֝נָהָ֗ר SDBH and a river יֶחֱרַ֥ב SDBH becomes parched וְיָבֵֽשׁ׃ SDBH and dry

As the mayim flow away from the yam, and the nahar (stream) becomes parched and drieth up,

וְאִ֥ישׁ SDBH so a man שָׁכַ֗ב SDBH lies down וְֽלֹא־ SDBH and does not יָ֫ק֥וּם SDBH rise עַד־ SDBH Until בִּלְתִּ֣י SDBH are no more שָׁ֭מַיִם SDBH the heavens לֹ֣א SDBH he will not יָקִ֑יצוּ SDBH be awakened וְלֹֽא־ SDBH [or] יֵ֝עֹ֗רוּ SDBH roused מִשְּׁנָתָֽם׃ SDBH from sleep

So ish lieth down, and riseth not, till Shomayim be no more, they shall not awake, nor be raised out of their sleep.

13

מִ֤י SDBH If only יִתֵּ֨ן׀ . . . בִּשְׁא֬וֹל SDBH in Sheol תַּצְפִּנֵ֗נִי SDBH You would hide me תַּ֭סְתִּירֵנִי SDBH and conceal me עַד־ SDBH until שׁ֣וּב SDBH has passed אַפֶּ֑ךָ SDBH Your anger תָּ֤שִׁ֥ית SDBH If only You would appoint לִ֖י for me חֹ֣ק SDBH a time וְתִזְכְּרֵֽנִי׃ SDBH and then remember me

O that Thou wouldest hide me in Sheol, that Thou wouldest conceal me until Thy wrath has passed, that Thou wouldest appoint me a chok (set time), and remember me!

אִם־ SDBH When יָמ֥וּת SDBH dies גֶּ֗בֶר SDBH a man הֲיִ֫חְיֶ֥ה SDBH will he live [again] כָּל־ All יְמֵ֣י SDBH the days צְבָאִ֣י SDBH of my hard service אֲיַחֵ֑ל SDBH I will wait עַד־ SDBH until בּ֝֗וֹא SDBH comes חֲלִיפָתִֽי׃ SDBH my renewal

If a gever die, shall he live again? All the days of my tzava (hard army service) will I wait, till my chalifah (changing, renewal) come.

15

תִּ֭קְרָא SDBH You will call וְאָנֹכִ֣י SDBH and I אֶֽעֱנֶ֑ךָּ SDBH will answer לְֽמַעֲשֵׂ֖ה SDBH the work יָדֶ֣יךָ SDBH of Your hands תִכְסֹֽף׃ SDBH You will desire

Thou shalt call, and I will answer Thee; Thou wilt have a desire for the ma'aseh (work) of Thine hands.

16

כִּֽי־ For עַ֭תָּה SDBH then צְעָדַ֣י SDBH my steps תִּסְפּ֑וֹר SDBH You would count לֹֽא־ SDBH but would not תִ֝שְׁמ֗וֹר SDBH keep track עַל־ of חַטָּאתִֽי׃ SDBH my sin

For now Thou countest my steps. Dost Thou not watch over my chattat?

17

חָתֻ֣ם SDBH would be sealed בִּצְר֣וֹר SDBH in a bag פִּשְׁעִ֑י SDBH My transgression וַ֝תִּטְפֹּ֗ל SDBH and You would cover עַל־ over עֲוֺנִֽי׃ SDBH my iniquity

My peysha is sealed up in a bag, and Thou would cover over mine avon.

18

וְ֭אוּלָם SDBH But הַר־ SDBH as a mountain נוֹפֵ֣ל SDBH erodes יִבּ֑וֹל SDBH and crumbles וְ֝צ֗וּר SDBH and a rock יֶעְתַּ֥ק SDBH is dislodged מִמְּקֹמֽוֹ׃ SDBH from its place

And surely the har (mountain) falling crumbles, and the tzur (rock) is moved out of its place.

19

אֲבָנִ֤ים׀ SDBH the stones שָׁ֥חֲקוּ SDBH wears away מַ֗יִם SDBH as water תִּשְׁטֹֽף־ SDBH wash away סְפִיחֶ֥יהָ SDBH and torrents עֲפַר־ SDBH the soil אָ֑רֶץ SDBH . . . וְתִקְוַ֖ת SDBH hope אֱנ֣וֹשׁ SDBH a man’s הֶאֱבַֽדְתָּ׃ SDBH so You destroy

The mayim wear away the avanim; Thou washest away the things which grow out of the aphar aretz; and Thou destroyest the tikvat enosh.

20

תִּתְקְפֵ֣הוּ SDBH overpower him לָ֭נֶצַח SDBH You forever וַֽיַּהֲלֹ֑ךְ SDBH and he passes on מְשַׁנֶּ֥ה SDBH You change פָ֝נָ֗יו his countenance וַֽתְּשַׁלְּחֵֽהוּ׃ SDBH and send him away

Thou prevailest lanetzach (forever) against him, and he passeth away; Thou changest his countenance, and sendest him away.

21

יִכְבְּד֣וּ SDBH receive honor בָ֭נָיו SDBH If his sons וְלֹ֣א SDBH he does not יֵדָ֑ע SDBH know it וְ֝יִצְעֲר֗וּ SDBH if they are brought low וְֽלֹא־ SDBH he is unaware יָבִ֥ין SDBH . . . לָֽמוֹ׃

His banim come to honor, and he knoweth it not; and they are brought low, but he perceiveth it not of them.

22

אַךְ־ SDBH He feels only בְּ֭שָׂרוֹ SDBH of his own body עָלָ֣יו only for יִכְאָ֑ב SDBH the pain וְ֝נַפְשׁ֗וֹ SDBH himself עָלָ֥יו . . . תֶּאֱבָֽל׃פ SDBH and mourns

Only his basar shall have pain upon him, and his nefesh within him shall mourn.
