Iyov 11 — Hebrew–OJB Interlinear

וַ֭יַּעַן SDBH replied צֹפַ֥ר SDBH Then Zophar הַֽנַּעֲמָתִ֗י SDBH the Naamathite וַיֹּאמַֽר׃ SDBH . . .

Then answered Tzophar the Na'amati, and said,

הֲרֹ֣ב Should this stream דְּ֭בָרִים SDBH of words לֹ֣א SDBH go unanswered יֵעָנֶ֑ה SDBH . . . וְאִם־ SDBH and such אִ֖ישׁ SDBH a speaker שְׂפָתַ֣יִם SDBH . . . יִצְדָּֽק׃ SDBH be vindicated

Should not the multitude of dvarim be answered? And should an ish full of talk yitzdak (be justified)?

בַּ֭דֶּיךָ SDBH Should your babbling מְתִ֣ים SDBH put others יַחֲרִ֑ישׁו SDBH to silence וַ֝תִּלְעַ֗ג SDBH Will you scoff וְאֵ֣ין SDBH without מַכְלִֽם׃ SDBH rebuke

Should thy vain talk silence men, so that thou mockest, v'ein machlim (without anyone putting thee to shame)?

וַ֭תֹּאמֶר SDBH You have said זַ֣ךְ SDBH sound לִקְחִ֑י SDBH My doctrine [is] וּ֝בַ֗ר SDBH pure הָיִ֥יתִי and I am בְעֵינֶֽיךָ׃ SDBH in Your sight

For thou hast said, My lekach (doctrine, teaching, belief) is pure, and I am clean in Thine eyes. [

וְֽאוּלָ֗ם SDBH But מִֽי־ SDBH if only יִתֵּ֣ן . . . אֱל֣וֹהַּ SDBH G-d דַּבֵּ֑ר SDBH would speak וְיִפְתַּ֖ח SDBH and open שְׂפָתָ֣יו SDBH His lips עִמָּֽךְ׃ against you

But oh that Eloah would speak, and open His lips against thee,

וְיַגֶּד־ SDBH and disclose לְךָ֨׀ to you תַּֽעֲלֻמ֣וֹת SDBH the secrets חָכְמָה֮ SDBH of wisdom כִּֽי־ for כִפְלַ֪יִם SDBH has two sides לְֽת֫וּשִׁיָּ֥ה SDBH true wisdom וְדַ֡ע SDBH Know כִּֽי־ then that יַשֶּׁ֥ה SDBH exacts לְךָ֥ from you אֱ֝ל֗וֹהַ SDBH G-d מֵעֲוֺנֶֽךָ׃ SDBH [less] than your iniquity [deserves]

And that He would show thee the secrets of chochmah, that tushiyyah (true wisdom) has two sides! Have da'as therefore that Eloah forgetteth much of thy avon.

הַחֵ֣קֶר SDBH the deep things אֱל֣וֹהַ SDBH of G-d תִּמְצָ֑א SDBH Can you fathom אִ֤ם SDBH or עַד־ SDBH . . . תַּכְלִ֖ית SDBH the limits שַׁדַּ֣י SDBH of the Almighty תִּמְצָֽא׃ SDBH discover

Canst thou search out the cheker Eloah (depths of G-d)? Canst thou probe to the tachlis Shaddai (the end, completeness of Almighty)?

גָּבְהֵ֣י SDBH They are higher שָׁ֭מַיִם SDBH than the heavens מַה־ SDBH what תִּפְעָ֑ל SDBH can you do עֲמֻקָּ֥ה SDBH They are deeper מִ֝שְּׁא֗וֹל SDBH than Sheol מַה־ SDBH what תֵּדָֽע׃ SDBH can you know

It is like the heights of Shomayim; what canst thou do? Deeper than Sheol; of what canst thou have da'as?

אֲרֻכָּ֣ה SDBH is longer מֵאֶ֣רֶץ SDBH the earth מִדָּ֑הּ SDBH Their measure וּ֝רְחָבָ֗ה SDBH and wider מִנִּי־ than יָֽם׃ SDBH than the sea

The measure thereof is longer than ha'aretz, and broader than the yam (sea).

אִם־ SDBH If יַחֲלֹ֥ף SDBH He comes along וְיַסְגִּ֑יר SDBH to imprison you וְ֝יַקְהִ֗יל SDBH or convenes a court וּמִ֣י SDBH who יְשִׁיבֶֽנּוּ׃ SDBH can stop Him

When Eloah passes by and arrests and convenes for judgment, who then can constrain Him?

כִּי־ Surely ה֭וּא SDBH He יָדַ֣ע SDBH knows מְתֵי־ SDBH of men שָׁ֑וְא SDBH the deceit וַיַּרְא־ SDBH If He sees אָ֝֗וֶן SDBH iniquity וְלֹ֣א SDBH does He not יִתְבּוֹנָֽן׃ SDBH take note

For He has da'as of deceitful men; He seeth wickedness also; will He not then take note of it?

וְאִ֣ישׁ SDBH man נָ֭בוּב SDBH But a witless יִלָּבֵ֑ב SDBH can no more become wise וְעַ֥יִר SDBH than the colt פֶּ֝֗רֶא SDBH of a wild donkey אָדָ֥ם SDBH a man יִוָּלֵֽד׃ SDBH can be born

But before a witless ish can become wise, a colt of a pereh (wild donkey) would be born an adam!

אִם־ SDBH if אַ֭תָּ֗ה SDBH As for you הֲכִינ֣וֹתָ SDBH you direct לִבֶּ֑ךָ SDBH your heart וּפָרַשְׂתָּ֖ SDBH and lift up אֵלָ֣יו to Him כַּפֶּֽךָ׃ SDBH your hands

If thou direct thine lev, and stretch out thine hands to Him,

אִם־ SDBH if אָ֣וֶן SDBH the iniquity בְּ֭יָדְךָ SDBH in your hand הַרְחִיקֵ֑הוּ SDBH you put away וְאַל־ and allow no תַּשְׁכֵּ֖ן SDBH to dwell בְּאֹהָלֶ֣יךָ SDBH in your tents עַוְלָֽה׃ SDBH injustice

If iniquity be in thine yad, put it far away, and let not wickedness dwell in thy ohalim.

15

כִּי־ indeed אָ֤ז׀ SDBH then תִּשָּׂ֣א SDBH you will lift up פָנֶ֣יךָ your face מִמּ֑וּם SDBH without blemish וְהָיִ֥יתָ you will מֻ֝צָ֗ק SDBH stand firm וְלֹ֣א SDBH and unafraid תִירָֽא׃ SDBH . . .

For then shalt thou lift up thy face without mum; yea, thou shalt be firm, and shalt not fear,

16

כִּי־ For אַ֭תָּה SDBH you עָמָ֣ל SDBH [your] misery תִּשְׁכָּ֑ח SDBH will forget כְּמַ֖יִם SDBH it only as waters עָבְר֣וּ SDBH gone by תִזְכֹּֽר׃ SDBH recalling

Because thou shalt forget thy amal (grief), and remember it as waters that flow by,

וּֽ֭מִצָּהֳרַיִם SDBH than noonday יָק֣וּם SDBH will be brighter חָ֑לֶד SDBH Your life תָּ֝עֻ֗פָה SDBH its darkness כַּבֹּ֥קֶר SDBH like the morning תִּהְיֶֽה׃ will be

And thine cheled (duration of life) shall be brighter than the tzohorayim (noonday); thou shalt shine forth; thou shalt be as the boker.

18

וּֽ֭בָטַחְתָּ SDBH You will be secure כִּי־ because יֵ֣שׁ there is תִּקְוָ֑ה SDBH hope וְ֝חָפַרְתָּ֗ SDBH and you will look around לָבֶ֥טַח SDBH in safety תִּשְׁכָּֽב׃ SDBH and lie down

And thou shalt be secure, because now there is tikveh; yea, thou shalt search, and thou shalt take thy rest in safety.

19

וְֽ֭רָבַצְתָּ SDBH You will lie down וְאֵ֣ין SDBH without מַחֲרִ֑יד SDBH fear וְחִלּ֖וּ SDBH will court פָנֶ֣יךָ your favor רַבִּֽים׃ SDBH and many

Also thou shalt lie down, and none shall make thee afraid; yea, rabbim (many) shall court thy favor.

20

וְעֵינֵ֥י SDBH But the eyes רְשָׁעִ֗ים SDBH of the wicked תִּ֫כְלֶ֥ינָה SDBH will fail וּ֭מָנוֹס SDBH and escape אָבַ֣ד SDBH will elude them מִנְהֶ֑ם . . . וְ֝תִקְוָתָ֗ם SDBH they will hope מַֽפַּח־ SDBH for their last breath נָֽפֶשׁ׃פ SDBH . . .

But the eyes of the resha'im faileth, and they shall not escape, and their tikveh shall be as the last gasp of the nefesh.
