Iyov 10 — Hebrew–OJB Interlinear

נָֽקְטָ֥ה SDBH I loathe נַפְשִׁ֗י SDBH my own בְּחַ֫יָּ֥י SDBH life אֶֽעֶזְבָ֣ה SDBH I will express עָלַ֣י . . . שִׂיחִ֑י SDBH my complaint אֲ֝דַבְּרָה֗ SDBH and speak בְּמַ֣ר SDBH in the bitterness נַפְשִֽׁי׃ SDBH of my soul

My nefesh is sick of my life; I will give free rein to my si'akh (complaint); I will speak in the mar (bitterness) of my nefesh.

אֹמַ֣ר SDBH I will say אֶל־ to אֱ֭לוֹהַּ SDBH G-d אַל־ Do not תַּרְשִׁיעֵ֑נִי SDBH condemn me הֽ֝וֹדִיעֵ֗נִי SDBH Let me know עַ֣ל why מַה־ SDBH . . . תְּרִיבֵֽנִי׃ SDBH You prosecute me

I will say unto Eloah, Do not condemn me; show me what charge Thou dost contend with me.

הֲט֤וֹב SDBH Does it please לְךָ֨׀ You כִּֽי־ . . . תַעֲשֹׁ֗ק SDBH to oppress me כִּֽי־ . . . תִ֭מְאַס SDBH to reject יְגִ֣יעַ SDBH the work כַּפֶּ֑יךָ SDBH of Your hands וְעַל־ . . . עֲצַ֖ת SDBH the schemes רְשָׁעִ֣ים SDBH of the wicked הוֹפָֽעְתָּ׃ SDBH and favor

Is it hatov (pleasing) unto Thee that Thou shouldest oppress, that Thou shouldest reject the work of Thine hands, and shine [favor] upon the etzah (scheme) of the resha'im?

הַעֵינֵ֣י SDBH Do You have eyes בָשָׂ֣ר SDBH of flesh לָ֑ךְ אִם־ SDBH - כִּרְא֖וֹת SDBH Do You see אֱנ֣וֹשׁ SDBH as man תִּרְאֶֽה׃ SDBH sees

Hast Thou eyes of basar? Or seest Thou as enosh seeth?

הֲכִימֵ֣י SDBH Are Your days אֱנ֣וֹשׁ SDBH of a [mortal] יָמֶ֑יךָ SDBH like those אִם־ SDBH or שְׁ֝נוֹתֶ֗יךָ SDBH Your years כִּ֣ימֵי SDBH like those גָֽבֶר׃ SDBH of a man

Are Thy yamim like the yamim of enosh? Are Thy years like the days of gever (man),

כִּֽי־ that תְבַקֵּ֥שׁ SDBH You should seek לַעֲוֺנִ֑י SDBH my iniquity וּ֭לְחַטָּאתִ֥י SDBH my sin תִדְרֽוֹשׁ׃ SDBH and search out

That Thou seekest after mine avon, and searchest after my chattat?

עַֽל־ though דַּ֭עְתְּךָ SDBH You know כִּי־ that לֹ֣א SDBH I am not אֶרְשָׁ֑ע SDBH guilty וְאֵ֖ין SDBH and there is no מִיָּדְךָ֣ SDBH from Your hand מַצִּֽיל׃ SDBH deliverance

Though Thou has da'as that I am not a resha, and there is none that can deliver out of Thine yad,

יָדֶ֣יךָ SDBH Your hands עִ֭צְּבוּנִי SDBH shaped me וַֽיַּעֲשׂ֑וּנִי SDBH formed me יַ֥חַד SDBH and altogether סָ֝בִ֗יב Would You now turn וַֽתְּבַלְּעֵֽנִי׃ SDBH and destroy me

Thine yadayim have formed me and altogether round about have fashioned me; yet Thou hast now swallowed me.

זְכָר־ SDBH remember נָ֭א Please כִּי־ that כַחֹ֣מֶר SDBH like clay עֲשִׂיתָ֑נִי SDBH You molded me וְֽאֶל־ to עָפָ֥ר SDBH dust תְּשִׁיבֵֽנִי׃ SDBH Would You now return me

Remember, now, that Thou hast molded me like the chomer (clay), and wilt Thou turn me into aphar again?

הֲלֹ֣א SDBH Did You not כֶ֭חָלָב SDBH like milk תַּתִּיכֵ֑נִי SDBH pour me out וְ֝כַגְּבִנָּ֗ה SDBH like cheese תַּקְפִּיאֵֽנִי׃ SDBH and curdle me

Hast Thou not poured me out like cholov, and curdled me like gvinah (cheese)?

ע֣וֹר SDBH with skin וּ֭בָשָׂר SDBH and flesh תַּלְבִּישֵׁ֑נִי SDBH You clothed me וּֽבַעֲצָמ֥וֹת SDBH with bones וְ֝גִידִ֗ים SDBH and sinews תְּסֹכְכֵֽנִי׃ SDBH and knit me together

Thou hast clothed me with ohr and basar, and hast knitted me together with atzmot and sinews.

חַיִּ֣ים SDBH life וָ֭חֶסֶד SDBH and loving devotion עָשִׂ֣יתָ SDBH You have granted עִמָּדִ֑י me וּ֝פְקֻדָּתְךָ֗ SDBH and Your care שָֽׁמְרָ֥ה SDBH has preserved רוּחִֽי׃ SDBH my spirit

Thou hast granted me chayyim and chesed, and Thy visitation hath been shomer over my ruach.

13

וְ֭אֵלֶּה SDBH these [things] צָפַ֣נְתָּ SDBH Yet You concealed בִלְבָבֶ֑ךָ SDBH in Your heart יָ֝דַ֗עְתִּי SDBH and I know כִּי־ that זֹ֥את SDBH this [was] עִמָּֽךְ׃ in Your [mind]

And these things hast Thou hid in Thine lev; I have da'as that this was in Thy mind.

14

אִם־ SDBH If חָטָ֥אתִי SDBH I sinned וּשְׁמַרְתָּ֑נִי SDBH You would take note וּ֝מֵעֲוֺנִ֗י SDBH of my iniquity לֹ֣א SDBH and would not תְנַקֵּֽנִי׃ SDBH acquit me

If I sin, then Thou art shomer over me, and Thou wilt not let my avon go unpunished.

15

אִם־ SDBH If רָשַׁ֡עְתִּי SDBH I am guilty אַלְלַ֬י SDBH woe לִ֗י to me וְ֭צָדַקְתִּי SDBH And even if I am righteous לֹא־ SDBH I cannot אֶשָּׂ֣א SDBH lift רֹאשִׁ֑י SDBH my head שְׂבַ֥ע SDBH [I am] full קָ֝ל֗וֹן SDBH of shame וּרְאֵ֥ה SDBH and aware of עָנְיִֽי׃ SDBH my affliction

If I am guilty, woe unto me; even if I be tzaddik (innocent), yet will I not lift up my head, being full of kalon (shame) and conscious of my oni (misery),

16

וְ֭יִגְאֶה SDBH Should I hold my head high כַּשַּׁ֣חַל SDBH like a lion תְּצוּדֵ֑נִי SDBH You would hunt me וְ֝תָשֹׁ֗ב SDBH and again תִּתְפַּלָּא־ SDBH display Your power בִֽי׃ against me

For if my head is held high, Thou stalkest me like a fierce lion, and ever Thou displayest Thy awesome power against me.

17

תְּחַדֵּ֬שׁ SDBH You produce new עֵדֶ֨יךָ׀ SDBH witnesses נֶגְדִּ֗י against me וְתֶ֣רֶב and multiply כַּֽ֭עַשְׂךָ SDBH Your anger עִמָּדִ֑י toward me חֲלִיפ֖וֹת SDBH in wave after wave וְצָבָ֣א SDBH Hardships עִמִּֽי׃ assault me

Thou bringest Thy fresh edim (witnesses) against me, and increasest Thine hot indignation toward me; in waves Thy tzava troop against me.

18

וְלָ֣מָּה SDBH Why then מֵ֭רֶחֶם SDBH from the womb הֹצֵאתָ֑נִי SDBH did You bring me אֶ֝גְוַ֗ע SDBH Oh, that I had died וְעַ֣יִן SDBH eye לֹא־ SDBH and no תִרְאֵֽנִי׃ SDBH had seen me

Why then hast Thou brought me forth out of the rechem (womb)? Oh that I had expired, and no eye had seen me!

19

כַּאֲשֶׁ֣ר SDBH If only לֹא־ SDBH I had never הָיִ֣יתִי come אֶהְיֶ֑ה to be מִ֝בֶּ֗טֶן SDBH from the womb לַקֶּ֥בֶר SDBH to the grave אוּבָֽל׃ SDBH but had been carried

I should have been as though I had never been; I should have been carried from the beten straight to the kever.

20

הֲלֹא־ SDBH not מְעַ֣ט SDBH few יָמַ֣י SDBH Are my days יֶחְדָּל SDBH Withdraw יָשִׁית SDBH . . . מִ֝מֶּ֗נִּי from me וְאַבְלִ֥יגָה SDBH that I may have a little comfort מְּעָֽט׃ SDBH

Are not my yamim few? Then cease, and let me alone, that I may take a little cheer

21

בְּטֶ֣רֶם SDBH before אֵ֭לֵךְ SDBH I go וְלֹ֣א SDBH never אָשׁ֑וּב SDBH to return אֶל־ to אֶ֖רֶץ SDBH a land חֹ֣שֶׁךְ SDBH of darkness וְצַלְמָֽוֶת׃ SDBH and gloom

Before I go from where I shall not return, even to the Eretz Choshech V'Tzalmavet,

22

אֶ֤רֶץ SDBH to a land עֵיפָ֨תָה׀ SDBH of utter darkness כְּמ֥וֹ SDBH . . . אֹ֗פֶל SDBH . . . צַ֭לְמָוֶת SDBH of deep shadow וְלֹ֥א SDBH and disorder סְדָרִ֗ים SDBH . . . וַתֹּ֥פַע SDBH where even the light כְּמוֹ־ SDBH is like אֹֽפֶל׃פ SDBH darkness

An eretz of darkness, like darkness itself; and of tzalmavet, no sedarim (order), where the light is like darkness.
