Hear ye the Davar which Hashem speaketh unto you, O Bais Yisroel.

כֹּ֣ה׀ This is what אָמַ֣ר SDBH says יְהוָ֗ה SDBH Hashem/Adonoi אֶל־ . . . דֶּ֤רֶךְ SDBH the ways הַגּוֹיִם֙ SDBH of the nations אַל־ Do not תִּלְמָ֔דוּ SDBH learn וּמֵאֹת֥וֹת SDBH by the signs הַשָּׁמַ֖יִם SDBH in the heavens אַל־ . . . תֵּחָ֑תּוּ SDBH or be terrified כִּֽי־ though יֵחַ֥תּוּ SDBH are terrified הַגּוֹיִ֖ם SDBH the nations [themselves] מֵהֵֽמָּה׃ by them
Thus saith Hashem, Learn not the Derech HaGoyim, and be not in awe of the otot HaShomayim; though the Goyim are in awe of them.

כִּֽי־ For חֻקּ֥וֹת SDBH the customs הָֽעַמִּ֖ים SDBH of the peoples הֶ֣בֶל SDBH are worthless ה֑וּא SDBH . . . כִּֽי־ . . . עֵץ֙ SDBH a tree מִיַּ֣עַר SDBH from the forest כְּרָת֔וֹ SDBH they cut down מַעֲשֵׂ֥ה SDBH it is shaped יְדֵ֥י־ SDBH by the hands חָרָ֖שׁ SDBH of a craftsman בַּֽמַּעֲצָֽד׃ SDBH with a chisel
For the [religious] chukkot (customs, statutes) of the nations are vain delusions; for one cutteth etz out of the ya'ar (forest), the ma'aseh (handiwork) of the hands of the charash (workman, artisan), with the axe.
They deck it with kesef and with zahav; they fasten it with nails and with hammers, that it topple not.

כְּתֹ֨מֶר SDBH Like scarecrows מִקְשָׁ֥ה SDBH in a cucumber patch הֵ֙מָּה֙ SDBH their idols וְלֹ֣א SDBH cannot יְדַבֵּ֔רוּ SDBH speak נָשׂ֥וֹא SDBH They must be carried יִנָּשׂ֖וּא SDBH . . . כִּ֣י because לֹ֣א SDBH they cannot יִצְעָ֑דוּ SDBH walk אַל־ Do not תִּֽירְא֤וּ SDBH fear מֵהֶם֙ them כִּי־ for לֹ֣א SDBH they can do no יָרֵ֔עוּ SDBH harm וְגַם־ SDBH and הֵיטֵ֖יב SDBH do any good אֵ֥ין SDBH neither can they אוֹתָֽם׃ס SDBH . . .
They [the idols] are upright as the tomer (palm tree], but speak not; they must needs be carried, because they cannot go. Be not afraid of them; for they cannot do rah, neither also is it in them to do tov.
Forasmuch as there is none like unto Thee, Hashem; Thou art gadol, and Thy Shem is gadol in gevurah.
7
מִ֣י SDBH Who לֹ֤א SDBH would not יִֽרָאֲךָ֙ SDBH fear You מֶ֣לֶךְ SDBH O King הַגּוֹיִ֔ם SDBH of nations כִּ֥י לְךָ֖ יָאָ֑תָה SDBH This is Your due כִּ֣י For בְכָל־ among all חַכְמֵ֧י SDBH the wise [men] הַגּוֹיִ֛ם SDBH of the nations וּבְכָל־ and in all מַלְכוּתָ֖ם SDBH their kingdoms מֵאֵ֥ין SDBH there is none כָּמֽוֹךָ׃ SDBH like You
Who would not fear thee, O Melech HaGoyim? For this is Thy due; forasmuch as among all the chachamim of the Goyim, and in kol malchut of them, there is none like unto Thee.

וּבְאַחַ֖ת SDBH But they are altogether יִבְעֲר֣וּ SDBH senseless וְיִכְסָ֑לוּ SDBH and foolish מוּסַ֥ר SDBH instructed הֲבָלִ֖ים SDBH by worthless idols עֵ֥ץ SDBH made of wood הֽוּא׃ SDBH . . .
But they are altogether stupid and foolish; the etz is a musar havalim (discipline of delusions).
Hammered kesef is brought from Tarshish, and zahav from Uphaz, the ma'aseh (work, handiwork) of the charash (workman, artisan), and of the hands of the goldsmith; blue and purple is their [the idols'] clothing; they are all the ma'aseh (work) of cunning men.
But Hashem is the Elohim Emes, He is the Elohim Chayyim, and the Melech Olam; at His wrath ha'aretz shall tremble, and the Goyim shall not be able to endure His indignation.
Thus shall ye say unto them, The g-ds that have not made the heavens and the earth, even they shall perish from the earth, and min techot (from under) these heavens.
12
עֹשֵׂ֥ה SDBH [The LORD] made אֶ֙רֶץ֙ SDBH the earth בְּכֹח֔וֹ SDBH by His power מֵכִ֥ין SDBH He established תֵּבֵ֖ל SDBH the world בְּחָכְמָת֑וֹ SDBH by His wisdom וּבִתְבוּנָת֖וֹ SDBH by His understanding נָטָ֥ה SDBH and stretched out שָׁמָֽיִם׃ SDBH the heavens
He hath made eretz by His ko'ach, He hath established the tevel (world) by His chochmah, and hath stretched out Shomayim by His understanding.
13
לְק֨וֹל SDBH When He thunders תִּתּ֜וֹ . . . הֲמ֥וֹן SDBH roar מַ֙יִם֙ SDBH the waters בַּשָּׁמַ֔יִם SDBH in the heavens וַיַּעֲלֶ֥ה SDBH to rise נְשִׂאִ֖ים SDBH He causes the clouds מִקְצֵ֣ה SDBH from the ends אֶרֶץ SDBH of the earth בְּרָקִ֤ים SDBH the lightning לַמָּטָר֙ SDBH with the rain עָשָׂ֔ה SDBH He generates וַיּ֥וֹצֵא SDBH and brings forth ר֖וּחַ SDBH the wind מֵאֹצְרֹתָֽיו׃ SDBH from His storehouses
When He uttereth His voice, there is a multitude of mayim in Shomayim, and He causeth the clouds to ascend from the ends of ha'aretz; He maketh lightnings with matar (rain), and bringeth forth the ruach (wind) out of His Otzerot.
14
נִבְעַ֤ר SDBH is senseless כָּל־ Every אָדָם֙ SDBH man מִדַּ֔עַת SDBH הֹבִ֥ישׁ SDBH is put to shame כָּל־ every צוֹרֵ֖ף SDBH goldsmith מִפָּ֑סֶל SDBH by his idols כִּ֛י For שֶׁ֥קֶר SDBH are a fraud נִסְכּ֖וֹ SDBH his molten images וְלֹא־ SDBH and [there is] no ר֥וּחַ SDBH breath בָּֽם׃ in them
Kol Adam is stupid in his da'as; every goldsmith is shamed by the pesel (idol); for his nesekh (molten image) is sheker, and there is no ruach in them.
15
They are hevel (vanity, delusion), and the ma'aseh (work) of delusion; in the time of their pekudat (visitation, punishment) they shall perish.
16
לֹֽא־ SDBH is not כְאֵ֜לֶּה SDBH like these חֵ֣לֶק SDBH The Portion יַעֲקֹ֗ב SDBH of Jacob כִּֽי־ for יוֹצֵ֤ר SDBH is the Maker הַכֹּל֙ of all things ה֔וּא SDBH He וְיִ֨שְׂרָאֵ֔ל SDBH and Israel [is] שֵׁ֖בֶט SDBH the tribe נַֽחֲלָת֑וֹ SDBH of His inheritance יְהוָ֥ה SDBH Hashem/Adonoi צְבָא֖וֹת SDBH of Hosts שְׁמֽוֹ׃ס SDBH is His name
The chelek of Ya'akov is not like them; for the Yotzer HaKol (Maker of All, Creator of All) is He; and Yisroel is the shevet (rod) of His nachalah; Hashem Tzva'os Shmo.
Gather up thy gear [for Exile] meEretz (from the Land), O besieged inhabitant.

כִּֽי־ For כֹה֙ this is what אָמַ֣ר SDBH says יְהוָ֔ה SDBH Hashem/Adonoi הִנְנִ֥י Behold קוֹלֵ֛עַ SDBH I will sling out אֶת־ SDBH - יוֹשְׁבֵ֥י SDBH the inhabitants הָאָ֖רֶץ SDBH of the land בַּפַּ֣עַם SDBH time הַזֹּ֑את SDBH at this וַהֲצֵר֥וֹתִי SDBH and bring distress לָהֶ֖ם upon them לְמַ֥עַן so that they יִמְצָֽאוּ׃ס SDBH may be captured
For thus saith Hashem, Behold, I will sling out the inhabitants of HaAretz at this time, and will bring distress upon them, so that find they may [i.e., what they deserve].
19
א֥וֹי SDBH Woe לִי֙ to me עַל־ because of שִׁבְרִ֔י SDBH my brokenness נַחְלָ֖ה SDBH is grievous מַכָּתִ֑י SDBH my wound וַאֲנִ֣י SDBH But I אָמַ֔רְתִּי SDBH said אַ֛ךְ SDBH . . . זֶ֥ה SDBH This חֳלִ֖י SDBH is truly my sickness וְאֶשָּׂאֶֽנּוּ׃ SDBH and I must bear it
Oy li! (woe is me) for my disaster! My wound is grievous; but I said, Truly this is a sickness, and I must bear it.
20
My ohel is destroyed, and all my tent cords are broken; my banim are gone forth of me, and are no more; there is none to pitch any more my ohel, and to hang up my tent curtains.
21
כִּ֤י For נִבְעֲרוּ֙ SDBH have become senseless הָֽרֹעִ֔ים SDBH the shepherds וְאֶת־ SDBH - יְהוָ֖ה SDBH Hashem/Adonoi לֹ֣א SDBH they do not דָרָ֑שׁוּ SDBH seek עַל־ Therefore כֵּן֙ SDBH . . . לֹ֣א SDBH they have not הִשְׂכִּ֔ילוּ SDBH prospered וְכָל־ and all their מַרְעִיתָ֖ם SDBH flock נָפֽוֹצָה׃ס SDBH is scattered
For the ro'im (shepherds, pastors) are become stupid, and inquire not of Hashem; therefore they shall not prosper, and all their flock shall be scattered.
Hinei, the noise! The report is come, and a great commotion out of Eretz Tzafon, to make the towns of Yehudah desolate, and a haunt of jackals.
Hashem, I know that the derech of adam (man) is not in himself; it is not in man that walketh to direct his steps.
24
יַסְּרֵ֥נִי SDBH Correct me יְהוָ֖ה SDBH Hashem/Adonoi אַךְ־ SDBH but only בְּמִשְׁפָּ֑ט SDBH with justice — אַל־ not בְּאַפְּךָ֖ SDBH in Your anger פֶּן־ or תַּמְעִטֵֽנִי׃ SDBH You will bring me to nothing
Hashem, correct me, but with mishpat; not in Thine anger, lest Thou bring me to nothing.
Pour out Thy fury upon the Goyim that know Thee not, and upon the mishpekhot that call not on Shimecha (Thy Name) [SEE JOEL 2:32(3:5); AC 2:21; RO 10:13]; for they have eaten up Ya'akov, and devoured him, and consumed him, and have made his habitation desolate.
