Yeshayah 31 — Hebrew–OJB Interlinear

ה֣וֹי SDBH Woe הַיֹּרְדִ֤ים SDBH to those who go down מִצְרַ֙יִם֙ SDBH to Egypt לְעֶזְרָ֔ה SDBH for help עַל־ on סוּסִ֖ים SDBH horses יִשָּׁעֵ֑נוּ SDBH who rely וַיִּבְטְח֨וּ SDBH who trust עַל־ in רֶ֜כֶב SDBH of chariots כִּ֣י . . . רָ֗ב SDBH their abundance וְעַ֤ל and in פָּֽרָשִׁים֙ SDBH of horsemen כִּֽי־ . . . עָצְמ֣וּ SDBH . . . מְאֹ֔ד their multitude וְלֹ֤א SDBH They do not שָׁעוּ֙ SDBH look עַל־ to קְד֣וֹשׁ SDBH the Holy יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל SDBH One of Israel וְאֶת־ SDBH - יְהוָ֖ה SDBH Hashem/Adonoi לֹ֥א SDBH they do not דָרָֽשׁוּ׃ SDBH seek

Woe to them that go down to Mitzrayim for ezrah (help); and rely on susim, and trust in merkavot, because they are many; and in parashim, because they are very strong; but they look not unto the Kadosh Yisroel, neither seek Hashem!

וְגַם־ SDBH He too ה֤וּא SDBH Yet חָכָם֙ SDBH [is] wise וַיָּ֣בֵא SDBH and brings רָ֔ע SDBH disaster וְאֶת־ SDBH - דְּבָרָ֖יו SDBH His words לֹ֣א SDBH He does not הֵסִ֑יר SDBH call back וְקָם֙ SDBH He will rise up עַל־ against בֵּ֣ית SDBH the house מְרֵעִ֔ים SDBH of the wicked וְעַל־ and against עֶזְרַ֖ת SDBH the allies פֹּ֥עֲלֵי SDBH of evildoers אָֽוֶן׃ SDBH . . .

Yet He also is chacham (wise), and will bring rah (disaster), and will not call back His devarim; but will arise against the Bais Mere'im (house of evildoers), and against the ezrat po'alei aven (the help of them that work iniquity).

וּמִצְרַ֤יִם SDBH But the Egyptians אָדָם֙ SDBH are men וְֽלֹא־ SDBH not אֵ֔ל SDBH G-d וְסוּסֵיהֶ֥ם SDBH their horses בָּשָׂ֖ר SDBH are flesh וְלֹא־ SDBH not ר֑וּחַ SDBH spirit וַֽיהוָ֞ה SDBH Hashem/Adonoi יַטֶּ֣ה SDBH stretches out יָד֗וֹ SDBH His hand וְכָשַׁ֤ל SDBH will stumble עוֹזֵר֙ SDBH the helper וְנָפַ֣ל SDBH will fall עָזֻ֔ר SDBH and the one he helps וְיַחְדָּ֖ו SDBH together כֻּלָּ֥ם both יִכְלָיֽוּן׃ס SDBH will perish

Now the Mitzrayim are adam, and not El (G-d); and their susim basar, and not ruach. When Hashem shall stretch out His yad, both he that helpeth shall fall, and he that is helped shall stumble, and they all shall come to an end together.

כִּ֣י For כֹ֣ה this is what אָֽמַר־ SDBH has said יְהוָ֣ה׀ SDBH Hashem/Adonoi אֵלַ֡י to me כַּאֲשֶׁ֣ר SDBH Like יֶהְגֶּה֩ SDBH roaring הָאַרְיֵ֨ה SDBH a lion וְהַכְּפִ֜יר SDBH or a young lion עַל־ over טַרְפּ֗וֹ SDBH its prey אֲשֶׁ֨ר SDBH and though יִקָּרֵ֤א SDBH is called out עָלָיו֙ against it מְלֹ֣א SDBH a band רֹעִ֔ים SDBH of shepherds מִקּוֹלָם֙ SDBH by their shouting לֹ֣א SDBH it is not יֵחָ֔ת SDBH terrified וּמֵֽהֲמוֹנָ֖ם SDBH by their clamor לֹ֣א SDBH . . . יַֽעֲנֶ֑ה SDBH or subdued כֵּ֗ן SDBH so יֵרֵד֙ SDBH will come down יְהוָ֣ה SDBH Hashem/Adonoi צְבָא֔וֹת SDBH of Hosts לִצְבֹּ֥א SDBH to do battle עַל־ on הַר־ SDBH Mount צִיּ֖וֹן SDBH Zion וְעַל־ [and] גִּבְעָתָֽהּ׃ SDBH its heights

For thus saith Hashem unto me, Just as the aryeh (lion) and the young lion roars over his prey, when a multitude of ro'im (shepherds) is called forth against him, he will not be afraid of their clamor, nor disturb himself because of the noise of them; so shall Hashem Tzva'os come down to fight for Mt Tziyon, and for the givah (hill) thereof.

כְּצִפֳּרִ֣ים SDBH Like birds עָפ֔וֹת SDBH hovering overhead כֵּ֗ן SDBH so יָגֵ֛ן SDBH will protect יְהוָ֥ה SDBH Hashem/Adonoi צְבָא֖וֹת SDBH of Hosts עַל־ . . . יְרֽוּשָׁלִָ֑ם SDBH Jerusalem גָּנ֥וֹן SDBH He will shield it וְהִצִּ֖יל SDBH and deliver it פָּסֹ֥חַ SDBH He will pass over it וְהִמְלִֽיט׃ SDBH and preserve it

As tzipporim (birds) flying, so will Hashem Tzva'os defend Yerushalayim; defending also He will deliver it; and paso'ach (passing over) He will preserve it.

שׁ֗וּבוּ SDBH Return לַאֲשֶׁ֛ר SDBH to the One הֶעְמִ֥יקוּ SDBH against whom you have deeply סָרָ֖ה SDBH rebelled בְּנֵ֥י SDBH O children יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ SDBH of Israel

Shuvu (turn ye, return) unto Him from Whom the Bnei Yisroel have deeply revolted.

כִּ֚י For בַּיּ֣וֹם SDBH day הַה֔וּא SDBH on that יִמְאָס֗וּן SDBH of you will reject אִ֚ישׁ SDBH every one אֱלִילֵ֣י SDBH the idols כַסְפּ֔וֹ SDBH of silver וֶאֱלִילֵ֖י SDBH . . . זְהָב֑וֹ SDBH and gold אֲשֶׁ֨ר SDBH that עָשׂ֥וּ SDBH made לָכֶ֛ם your own יְדֵיכֶ֖ם SDBH hands חֵֽטְא׃ SDBH have sinfully

For in that day every ish shall cast away his elilim of kesef, and his elilim of zahav, which your own hands have made unto you as a chet.

וְנָפַ֤ל SDBH will fall אַשּׁוּר֙ SDBH Then Assyria בְּחֶ֣רֶב SDBH by the sword לֹא־ SDBH but not אִ֔ישׁ SDBH of man וְחֶ֥רֶב SDBH a sword לֹֽא־ SDBH but not אָדָ֖ם SDBH one made by mortals תֹּֽאכֲלֶ֑נּוּ SDBH will devour them וְנָ֥ס SDBH They will flee לוֹ֙ מִפְּנֵי־ before חֶ֔רֶב SDBH the sword וּבַחוּרָ֖יו SDBH and their young men לָמַ֥ס SDBH to forced labor יִהְיֽוּ׃ will be put

Then shall the Assyrian fall by a cherev, not of an ish (man); and a cherev not adam (of mortals) shall devour him; so he shall flee from before the cherev, and his bochrim shall become forced laborers.

וְסַלְעוֹ֙ SDBH Their rock מִמָּג֣וֹר SDBH for fear יַֽעֲב֔וֹר SDBH will pass away וְחַתּ֥וּ SDBH will panic מִנֵּ֖ס SDBH at [the sight of] the battle standard שָׂרָ֑יו SDBH and their princes נְאֻם־ SDBH declares יְהוָ֗ה SDBH Hashem/Adonoi אֲשֶׁר־ SDBH whose א֥וּר SDBH fire לוֹ֙ בְּצִיּ֔וֹן SDBH is in Zion וְתַנּ֥וּר SDBH whose furnace ל֖וֹ בִּירוּשָׁלִָֽם׃ס SDBH is in Jerusalem

And his rock shall pass away in magor (terror), and his sarim shall desert the nes (battle flag) in panic, saith Hashem, Whose fire is in Tziyon, and His furnace in Yerushalayim.
