Yeshayah 32 — Hebrew–OJB Interlinear

1

הֵ֥ן Behold לְצֶ֖דֶק SDBH in righteousness יִמְלָךְ־ SDBH will reign מֶ֑לֶךְ SDBH a king וּלְשָׂרִ֖ים SDBH and princes לְמִשְׁפָּ֥ט SDBH with justice יָשֹֽׂרוּ׃ SDBH will rule

See, a Melech shall reign in tzedek, and sarim shall rule in mishpat (justice).

וְהָיָה־ will be אִ֥ישׁ SDBH Each כְּמַֽחֲבֵא־ SDBH like a shelter ר֖וּחַ SDBH from the wind וְסֵ֣תֶר SDBH a refuge זָ֑רֶם SDBH from the storm כְּפַלְגֵי־ SDBH like streams מַ֣יִם SDBH of water בְּצָי֔וֹן SDBH in a dry land כְּצֵ֥ל SDBH like the shadow סֶֽלַע־ SDBH rock כָּבֵ֖ד SDBH of a great בְּאֶ֥רֶץ SDBH land עֲיֵפָֽה׃ SDBH in an arid

And an ish shall be as a sheltering hiding place from the ruach (wind), and a seter (refuge) from the tempest; as streams of mayim in a dry place, as the tzel (shadow) of a great rock in a weary land.

וְלֹ֥א SDBH will no longer תִשְׁעֶ֖ינָה SDBH be closed עֵינֵ֣י SDBH Then the eyes רֹאִ֑ים SDBH of those who see וְאָזְנֵ֥י SDBH and the ears שֹׁמְעִ֖ים SDBH of those who hear תִּקְשַֽׁבְנָה׃ SDBH will listen

And the eynayim of them that see shall no longer be closed, and the oznayim of them that hear shall pay heed.

וּלְבַ֥ב SDBH The mind נִמְהָרִ֖ים SDBH of the rash יָבִ֣ין SDBH will know לָדָ֑עַת SDBH and understand וּלְשׁ֣וֹן SDBH tongue עִלְּגִ֔ים SDBH and the stammering תְּמַהֵ֖ר SDBH and fluently לְדַבֵּ֥ר SDBH will speak צָחֽוֹת׃ SDBH clearly

The levav also of the rash shall understand da'as, and the lashon of the stammerers shall be ready to speak plainly.

לֹֽא־ SDBH No יִקָּרֵ֥א SDBH be called ע֛וֹד longer {will} לְנָבָ֖ל SDBH a fool נָדִ֑יב SDBH noble וּלְכִילַ֕י SDBH a scoundrel לֹ֥א SDBH nor יֵֽאָמֵ֖ר SDBH vvv שֽׁוֹעַ׃ SDBH be respected

The naval (foolish person) shall be no more called noble, nor the scoundrel said to be honorable.

כִּ֤י For נָבָל֙ SDBH a fool נְבָלָ֣ה SDBH foolishness יְדַבֵּ֔ר SDBH speaks וְלִבּ֖וֹ SDBH his mind יַעֲשֶׂה־ SDBH plots אָ֑וֶן SDBH iniquity לַעֲשׂ֣וֹת SDBH He practices חֹ֗נֶף SDBH ung-dliness וּלְדַבֵּ֤ר SDBH and speaks אֶל־ about יְהוָה֙ SDBH Hashem/Adonoi תּוֹעָ֔ה SDBH falsely לְהָרִיק֙ SDBH empty נֶ֣פֶשׁ SDBH he leaves the hungry רָעֵ֔ב SDBH . . . וּמַשְׁקֶ֥ה SDBH drink צָמֵ֖א SDBH and deprives the thirsty יַחְסִֽיר׃ SDBH of

For the naval will speak foolishness, and his lev will work evil, to practise khonef (hypocrisy), and to utter to'ah (error, perversity) against Hashem, to leave unsatisfied the nefesh of the ra'av (hungry), and he will cause the drink of the tzameh (thirsty) to fail.

וְכֵלַ֖י SDBH of the scoundrel כֵּלָ֣יו SDBH The weapons רָעִ֑ים SDBH are destructive ה֚וּא SDBH he זִמּ֣וֹת SDBH plots יָעָ֔ץ SDBH hatches לְחַבֵּ֤ל SDBH to destroy עֲנָוִים SDBH the poor בְּאִמְרֵי־ SDBH with lies שֶׁ֔קֶר SDBH . . . וּבְדַבֵּ֥ר SDBH even when the plea אֶבְי֖וֹן SDBH of the needy מִשְׁפָּֽט׃ SDBH is just

The schemes also of the schemer are ra'im (evil ones); he deviseth zimmot (wicked schemes) to destroy the poor with words of sheker, even when the evyon (needy) speaketh mishpat (justly).

וְנָדִ֖יב SDBH But a noble man נְדִיב֣וֹת SDBH honorable plans יָעָ֑ץ SDBH makes וְה֖וּא SDBH he עַל־ for נְדִיב֥וֹת SDBH worthy causes יָקֽוּם׃פ SDBH stands up

But the noble maketh plans that are noble; and by noble things shall he stand.

נָשִׁים֙ SDBH women שַֽׁאֲנַנּ֔וֹת SDBH you complacent קֹ֖מְנָה SDBH Stand up שְׁמַ֣עְנָה SDBH listen to me קוֹלִ֑י SDBH . . . בָּנוֹת֙ SDBH daughters בֹּֽטח֔וֹת SDBH you overconfident הַאְזֵ֖נָּה SDBH Give ear אִמְרָתִֽי׃ SDBH to my word

Rise up, ye nashim that are complacently at ease; hear my voice, ye banot at ease; give ozen unto my speech.

10

יָמִים֙ SDBH In a little more than עַל־ . . . שָׁנָ֔ה SDBH a year תִּרְגַּ֖זְנָה SDBH you will tremble בֹּֽטְח֑וֹת SDBH O secure ones כִּ֚י For כָּלָ֣ה SDBH will fail בָצִ֔יר SDBH the grape harvest אֹ֖סֶף SDBH and the fruit harvest בְּלִ֥י SDBH will not יָבֽוֹא׃ SDBH arrive

Days and a shanah, then shall ye tremble, ye careless nashim; for the grape harvest shall fail, the harvest of fruit shall not come.

חִרְדוּ֙ SDBH Shudder שַֽׁאֲנַנּ֔וֹת SDBH you ladies of leisure רְגָ֖זָה SDBH tremble בֹּֽטְח֑וֹת SDBH you daughters of complacency פְּשֹׁ֣טָֽה SDBH Strip וְעֹ֔רָה SDBH yourselves bare וַחֲג֖וֹרָה SDBH and put עַל־ sackcloth around חֲלָצָֽיִם׃ SDBH your waists

Tremble, ye nashim that are complacently at ease; shake, ye complacent ones; strip you, and make you bare, and gird sackcloth upon your loins.

עַל־ - שָׁדַ֖יִם SDBH your breasts סֹֽפְדִ֑ים SDBH Beat עַל־ for שְׂדֵי־ SDBH fields חֶ֕מֶד SDBH the pleasant עַל־ . . . גֶּ֖פֶן SDBH vines פֹּרִיָּֽה׃ SDBH for the fruitful

They shall mournfully beat upon their breasts, for the pleasant fields, for the fruitful gefen (vine).

עַ֚ל and for אַדְמַ֣ת SDBH the land עַמִּ֔י SDBH of my people ק֥וֹץ SDBH with thorns שָׁמִ֖יר SDBH and briers תַּֽעֲלֶ֑ה SDBH overgrown כִּ֚י even עַל־ for כָּל־ every בָּתֵּ֣י SDBH house מָשׂ֔וֹשׂ SDBH of merriment קִרְיָ֖ה SDBH in this city עַלִּיזָֽה׃ SDBH of revelry

Upon the admat Ami (land of My People) shall come up kotz (thorns) and briers; indeed, upon all the batim (houses) of joy in the city of merriment;

כִּֽי־ For אַרְמ֣וֹן SDBH the palace נֻטָּ֔שׁ SDBH will be forsaken הֲמ֥וֹן SDBH the busy עִ֖יר SDBH city עֻזָּ֑ב SDBH abandoned עֹ֣פֶל SDBH The hill וָבַ֜חַן SDBH and the watchtower הָיָ֨ה will become בְעַ֤ד SDBH - מְעָרוֹת֙ SDBH caves עַד־ SDBH forever עוֹלָ֔ם SDBH . . . מְשׂ֥וֹשׂ SDBH the delight פְּרָאִ֖ים SDBH of wild donkeys מִרְעֵ֥ה SDBH and a pasture עֲדָרִֽים׃ SDBH for flocks

Because the palaces shall be forsaken; the multitude of the Ir shall be abandoned; the citadel and stronghold shall be ruins ad olam, a delight of wild donkeys, a pasture of adarim (flocks);

15

עַד־ SDBH until יֵ֨עָרֶ֥ה SDBH is poured out עָלֵ֛ינוּ upon us ר֖וּחַ SDBH the Spirit מִמָּר֑וֹם SDBH from on high וְהָיָ֤ה will be מִדְבָּר֙ SDBH Then the desert לַכַּרְמֶ֔ל SDBH an orchard וְכַרְמֶל SDBH and the orchard לַיַּ֥עַר SDBH like a forest יֵחָשֵֽׁב׃ SDBH will seem

Until the Ruach [Hakodesh] be poured upon us from on high, and the midbar become a carmel (fruitful field), and the carmel become a ya'ar (forest).

16

וְשָׁכַ֥ן SDBH will inhabit בַּמִּדְבָּ֖ר SDBH the wilderness מִשְׁפָּ֑ט SDBH Then justice וּצְדָקָ֖ה SDBH and righteousness בַּכַּרְמֶ֥ל SDBH in the fertile field תֵּשֵֽׁב׃ SDBH will dwell

Then mishpat shall dwell in the midbar, and tzedakah live in the carmel.

17

וְהָיָ֛ה will be מַעֲשֵׂ֥ה SDBH The work הַצְּדָקָ֖ה SDBH of righteousness שָׁל֑וֹם SDBH peace וַֽעֲבֹדַת֙ SDBH the service הַצְּדָקָ֔ה SDBH of righteousness הַשְׁקֵ֥ט SDBH will be quiet וָבֶ֖טַח SDBH confidence עַד־ SDBH forever עוֹלָֽם׃ SDBH . . .

And the ma'aseh (work) of tzedakah (righteousness) shall be shalom; and the effect of tzedakah quietness and assurance ad olam (forever).

18

וְיָשַׁ֥ב SDBH will dwell עַמִּ֖י SDBH Then my people בִּנְוֵ֣ה SDBH place שָׁל֑וֹם SDBH in a peaceful וּֽבְמִשְׁכְּנוֹת֙ SDBH . . . מִבְטַחִ֔ים SDBH in safe וּבִמְנוּחֹ֖ת SDBH places of rest שַׁאֲנַנּֽוֹת׃ SDBH and secure

And my people shall dwell in a naveh shalom (a habitation of peace) and in secure mishkenot (dwellings), and in quiet menuchot (resting places);

19

וּבָרַ֖ד SDBH But hail בְּרֶ֣דֶת SDBH will level הַיָּ֑עַר SDBH the forest וּבַשִּׁפְלָ֖ה SDBH to the depths תִּשְׁפַּ֥ל SDBH will sink הָעִֽיר׃ SDBH and the city

When it shall hail, coming down on the ya'ar (forest); and the Ir shall be utterly brought down in a low place [of humiliation].

20

אַשְׁרֵיכֶ֕ם SDBH Blessed זֹרְעֵ֖י SDBH [are] those who sow עַל־ beside כָּל־ abundant מָ֑יִם SDBH waters מְשַׁלְּחֵ֥י SDBH range freely רֶֽגֶל־ SDBH . . . הַשּׁ֖וֹר SDBH who let the ox וְהַחֲמֽוֹר׃ס SDBH and donkey

Blessed are ye that sow beside all mayim, that send forth there the regel of the shor (ox) and the chamor (donkey).
