Hoshea 13 — Hebrew–OJB Interlinear

כְּדַבֵּ֤ר SDBH spoke אֶפְרַ֙יִם֙ SDBH When Ephraim רְתֵ֔ת SDBH there was trembling נָשָׂ֥א SDBH was exalted ה֖וּא SDBH he בְּיִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל SDBH in Israel וַיֶּאְשַׁ֥ם SDBH But he incurred guilt בַּבַּ֖עַל SDBH through Baal וַיָּמֹֽת׃ SDBH and he died

When Ephrayim spoke there was trembling; he was exalted in Yisroel; but when he became guilty in Ba'al, he died.

וְעַתָּ֣ה׀ SDBH Now יוֹסִ֣פוּ SDBH more and more לַחֲטֹ֗א SDBH they sin וַיַּעְשׂ֣וּ SDBH and make לָהֶם֩ for themselves מַסֵּכָ֨ה SDBH cast images מִכַּסְפָּ֤ם SDBH from their silver כִּתְבוּנָם֙ SDBH skillfully made עֲצַבִּ֔ים SDBH idols מַעֲשֵׂ֥ה SDBH the work חָרָשִׁ֖ים SDBH of craftsmen כֻּלֹּ֑ה all לָהֶם֙ of them הֵ֣ם SDBH People אֹמְרִ֔ים SDBH say of them זֹבְחֵ֣י SDBH They offer human sacrifice אָדָ֔ם SDBH . . . עֲגָלִ֖ים SDBH the calves יִשָּׁקֽוּן׃ SDBH [and] kiss

And now they sin more and more, and have made for themselves massekhah (idol) of their kesef, and atzabim according to their faculty of binah (understanding), all of it the work of the craftsmen; they say of them, Let adam that sacrifice kiss calf-idols.

לָכֵ֗ן SDBH Therefore יִֽהְיוּ֙ they will be כַּעֲנַן־ SDBH mist בֹּ֔קֶר SDBH like the morning וְכַטַּ֖ל SDBH dew מַשְׁכִּ֣ים SDBH like the early הֹלֵ֑ךְ SDBH that vanishes כְּמֹץ֙ SDBH like chaff יְסֹעֵ֣ר SDBH blown מִגֹּ֔רֶן SDBH from a threshing floor וּכְעָשָׁ֖ן SDBH like smoke מֵאֲרֻבָּֽה׃ SDBH through an open window

Therefore they shall be like the anan boker (morning cloud) and as the early dew that disappears, like the motz (chaff) that is driven with the whirlwind out of the threshing floor, and as the smoke out of the window.

וְאָנֹכִ֛י SDBH Yet I [am] יְהוָ֥ה SDBH Hashem/Adonoi אֱלֹהֶ֖יךָ SDBH your G-d מֵאֶ֣רֶץ SDBH ever since the land מִצְרָ֑יִם SDBH of Egypt וֵאלֹהִ֤ים SDBH G-d זֽוּלָתִי֙ SDBH but Me לֹ֣א SDBH no תֵדָ֔ע SDBH you know וּמוֹשִׁ֥יעַ SDBH Savior אַ֖יִן SDBH for [there is] no בִּלְתִּֽי׃ SDBH besides Me

Yet I am Hashem Eloheicha from Eretz Mitzrayim, and thou shalt know no Elohim but Me; for there is no Moshia besides Me.

אֲנִ֥י SDBH I יְדַעְתִּ֖יךָ SDBH knew you בַּמִּדְבָּ֑ר SDBH in the wilderness בְּאֶ֖רֶץ SDBH in the land תַּלְאֻבֽוֹת׃ SDBH of drought

I did know thee in the midbar, in the eretz taluvot (land of burning heat).

כְּמַרְעִיתָם֙ SDBH When they had pasture וַיִּשְׂבָּ֔עוּ SDBH they became satisfied שָׂבְע֖וּ SDBH when they were satisfied וַיָּ֣רָם SDBH became proud לִבָּ֑ם SDBH their hearts עַל־ and as a result כֵּ֖ן SDBH . . . שְׁכֵחֽוּנִי׃ SDBH they forgot Me

According to their pasture [i.e., as I fed them], so were they filled; they were filled, and their lev became proud; therefore have they forgotten Me.

וָאֱהִ֥י I will pounce לָהֶ֖ם on them כְּמוֹ־ SDBH So like שָׁ֑חַל SDBH a lion כְּנָמֵ֖ר SDBH like a leopard עַל־ by דֶּ֥רֶךְ SDBH the path אָשֽׁוּר׃ SDBH I will lurk

Therefore I will be unto them as a lion; as a leopard by the derech will I lie in wait;

אֶפְגְּשֵׁם֙ SDBH I will attack them כְּדֹ֣ב SDBH Like a bear שַׁכּ֔וּל SDBH robbed of her cubs וְאֶקְרַ֖ע SDBH and I will tear סְג֣וֹר SDBH open their chests לִבָּ֑ם SDBH . . . וְאֹכְלֵ֥ם SDBH I will devour them שָׁם֙ SDBH There כְּלָבִ֔יא SDBH like a lion חַיַּ֥ת SDBH beast הַשָּׂדֶ֖ה SDBH like a wild תְּבַקְּעֵֽם׃ SDBH tearing them apart

I will meet them as a dov (bear) that is bereaved of her cubs, and will rip open the covering of their lev, and there will I devour them like a lion; as the wild beast of the sadeh would tear them.

שִֽׁחֶתְךָ֥ SDBH You are destroyed יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל SDBH O Israel כִּֽי־ because you are בִ֥י against Me בְעֶזְרֶֽךָ׃ SDBH against your helper

O Yisroel, thou art destroyed; because thou art against Me, thine Ezer (Help).

אֱהִ֤י SDBH Where is מַלְכְּךָ֙ SDBH your king אֵפ֔וֹא SDBH now וְיוֹשִֽׁיעֲךָ֖ SDBH to save you בְּכָל־ in all עָרֶ֑יךָ SDBH your cities וְשֹׁ֣פְטֶ֔יךָ SDBH and the rulers אֲשֶׁ֣ר SDBH to whom אָמַ֔רְתָּ SDBH you said תְּנָה־ Give לִּ֖י me מֶ֥לֶךְ SDBH a king וְשָׂרִֽים׃ SDBH and princes

Where now is thy melech that he may save thee? Where in all thy cities are thy shofetim of whom thou saidst, Give me a melech and sarim?

אֶֽתֶּן־ I gave לְךָ֥ you מֶ֙לֶךְ֙ SDBH a king בְּאַפִּ֔י SDBH So in My anger וְאֶקַּ֖ח SDBH I took [him] away בְּעֶבְרָתִֽי׃ס SDBH and in My wrath

I gave thee a melech in Mine anger, and took him away in My wrath [ISA 53:10].

צָרוּר֙ SDBH [is] bound up עֲוֺ֣ן SDBH The iniquity אֶפְרָ֔יִם SDBH of Ephraim צְפוּנָ֖ה SDBH [is] stored up חַטָּאתֽוֹ׃ SDBH his sin

The avon (iniquity) of Ephrayim is bound up; his chattat is lurking.

חֶבְלֵ֥י SDBH pains יֽוֹלֵדָ֖ה SDBH Labor יָבֹ֣אוּ SDBH come ל֑וֹ upon him הוּא־ SDBH but he is בֵן֙ SDBH son לֹ֣א SDBH vvv חָכָ֔ם SDBH an unwise כִּֽי־ When עֵ֥ת SDBH the time arrives לֹֽא־ SDBH fails יַעֲמֹ֖ד SDBH to present himself בְּמִשְׁבַּ֥ר SDBH at the opening of the womb בָּנִֽים׃ SDBH he

The chevlei yoledah (birth pangs of a woman in childbirth) shall come upon him; he is a ben lo chacham; for when it is time he does not come to the opening of the womb.

מִיַּ֤ד SDBH from the power שְׁאוֹל֙ SDBH of Sheol אֶפְדֵּ֔ם SDBH I will ransom them מִמָּ֖וֶת SDBH from Death אֶגְאָלֵ֑ם SDBH I will redeem them אֱהִ֨י SDBH Where דְבָרֶיךָ֜ SDBH are your plagues מָ֗וֶת SDBH O Death אֱהִ֤י SDBH Where קָֽטָבְךָ֙ SDBH is your sting שְׁא֔וֹל SDBH O Sheol נֹ֖חַם SDBH Compassion יִסָּתֵ֥ר SDBH is hidden מֵעֵינָֽי׃ SDBH from My eyes

Should I ransom them from the power of Sheol? Should I redeem them from mavet? O Mavet, where are the dever (pestilence, plague) of thee? O Sheol, where is thy destruction? Nocham (sorrow, compassion, pity) shall be hidden from Mine eyes.

כִּ֣י Although ה֔וּא SDBH he בֵּ֥ן SDBH among אַחִ֖ים SDBH his brothers יַפְרִ֑יא SDBH flourishes יָב֣וֹא SDBH will come קָדִים֩ SDBH an east wind ר֨וּחַ SDBH a wind יְהוָ֜ה SDBH Hashem/Adonoi מִמִּדְבָּ֣ר SDBH from the desert עֹלֶ֗ה SDBH rising up וְיֵב֤וֹשׁ SDBH will fail מְקוֹרוֹ֙ SDBH His fountain וְיֶחֱרַ֣ב SDBH will run dry מַעְיָנ֔וֹ SDBH and his spring ה֣וּא SDBH The wind יִשְׁסֶ֔ה SDBH will plunder אוֹצַ֖ר SDBH his treasury כָּל־ of every כְּלִ֥י SDBH article חֶמְדָּֽה׃ SDBH precious

Even though he thrives among his achim, an east wind shall come, the Ruach Hashem shall come up from the midbar (desert), and his makor (spring, fountain) shall become dry, and his well shall be dried up; it shall plunder the otzar of every keli chemdah (precious vessel).

תֶּאְשַׁם֙ SDBH will bear her guilt שֹֽׁמְר֔וֹן SDBH Samaria כִּ֥י because מָרְתָ֖ה SDBH she has rebelled בֵּֽאלֹהֶ֑יהָ SDBH against her G-d בַּחֶ֣רֶב SDBH by the sword יִפֹּ֔לוּ SDBH They will fall עֹלְלֵיהֶ֣ם SDBH their little ones יְרֻטָּ֔שׁוּ SDBH will be dashed to pieces וְהָרִיּוֹתָ֖יו SDBH and their pregnant יְבֻקָּֽעוּ׃פ SDBH women ripped open

Shomron shall bear guilt; for she hath rebelled against her Elohim; they shall fall by the cherev; their olalim shall be dashed in pieces, and their women with child shall be ripped open.
