Hoshea 12 — Hebrew–OJB Interlinear

אֶפְרַ֜יִם SDBH Ephraim רֹעֶ֥ה SDBH feeds on ר֙וּחַ֙ SDBH the wind וְרֹדֵ֣ף SDBH and pursues קָדִ֔ים SDBH the east wind כָּל־ all הַיּ֕וֹם SDBH day long כָּזָ֥ב SDBH lies וָשֹׁ֖ד SDBH and violence יַרְבֶּ֑ה he multiplies וּבְרִית֙ SDBH a covenant עִם־ with אַשּׁ֣וּר SDBH Assyria יִכְרֹ֔תוּ SDBH he makes וְשֶׁ֖מֶן SDBH olive oil לְמִצְרַ֥יִם SDBH to Egypt יוּבָֽל׃ SDBH and sends

[12:2] Ephrayim feedeth on wind, and chasing after the east wind; he daily increaseth kazav (lies) and sod (desolation); and cuts brit with the Assyrians, and shemen is sent to Mitzrayim.

וְרִ֥יב SDBH has a charge to bring לַֽיהוָ֖ה SDBH Hashem/Adonoi עִם־ against יְהוּדָ֑ה SDBH Judah וְלִפְקֹ֤ד SDBH He will punish עַֽל־ . . . יַעֲקֹב֙ SDBH Jacob כִּדְרָכָ֔יו SDBH according to his ways כְּמַעֲלָלָ֖יו SDBH according to his deeds יָשִׁ֥יב SDBH and repay לֽוֹ׃ him

Hashem hath also a charge against Yehudah, and will visit punishment on Ya'akov according to his ways; according to his doings will He repay him.

בַּבֶּ֖טֶן SDBH In the womb עָקַ֣ב SDBH heel אֶת־ SDBH - אָחִ֑יו SDBH he grasped his brother’s וּבְאוֹנ֖וֹ SDBH and in his vigor שָׂרָ֥ה SDBH he wrestled אֶת־ SDBH with אֱלֹהִֽים׃ SDBH G-d

In the beten (womb) he (Ya'akov) akav (took at the heel [of]) his brother and by his strength he sarah (struggled with, persevered) with Elohim;

וָיָּ֤שַׂר SDBH Yes, he struggled אֶל־ with מַלְאָךְ֙ SDBH the angel וַיֻּכָ֔ל SDBH and prevailed בָּכָ֖ה SDBH he wept וַיִּתְחַנֶּן־ SDBH and sought His favor ל֑וֹ בֵּֽית־ SDBH אֵל֙ SDBH at Bethel יִמְצָאֶ֔נּוּ SDBH he found Him וְשָׁ֖ם SDBH there יְדַבֵּ֥ר SDBH and spoke עִמָּֽנוּ׃ with Him

Yea, he (Yisroel) sarah (had power over) the malach, and prevailed; he wept, and made techinnah unto Him; He found him at Beit-El, and there He spoke with us;

וַֽיהוָ֖ה SDBH Hashem/Adonoi אֱלֹהֵ֣י SDBH G-d הַצְּבָא֑וֹת SDBH of Hosts יְהוָ֖ה SDBH Hashem/Adonoi זִכְרֽוֹ׃ SDBH is His name of renown

Even Hashem Elohei Tzva'os; Hashem is His [memorial] Name!

וְאַתָּ֖ה SDBH But you בֵּאלֹהֶ֣יךָ SDBH to your G-d תָשׁ֑וּב SDBH must return חֶ֤סֶד SDBH love וּמִשְׁפָּט֙ SDBH and justice שְׁמֹ֔ר SDBH maintain וְקַוֵּ֥ה SDBH wait אֶל־ on אֱלֹהֶ֖יךָ SDBH your G-d תָּמִֽיד׃ SDBH and always

Therefore turn thou to Eloheicha; be shomer over chesed and mishpat and wait on Eloheicha tamid (continually).

כְּנַ֗עַן SDBH A merchant בְּיָד֛וֹ SDBH in his hands מֹאזְנֵ֥י SDBH scales מִרְמָ֖ה SDBH with dishonest לַעֲשֹׁ֥ק SDBH to defraud אָהֵֽב׃ SDBH loves

A Kena'an (merchant), in whose hand are the scales of mirmar (deceit) He loveth to oppress.

וַיֹּ֣אמֶר SDBH boasts אֶפְרַ֔יִם SDBH And Ephraim אַ֣ךְ SDBH . . . עָשַׁ֔רְתִּי SDBH How rich I have become מָצָ֥אתִי SDBH I have found א֖וֹן SDBH wealth לִ֑י for myself כָּל־ In all יְגִיעַ֕י SDBH my labors לֹ֥א SDBH no יִמְצְאוּ־ SDBH they can find לִ֖י in me עָוֺ֥ן SDBH iniquity אֲשֶׁר־ SDBH that [is] חֵֽטְא׃ SDBH sinful

And Ephrayim boasts, Yet I am become an oisher, I have found me out wealth; in all my gain they shall find none avon (iniquity, offense) in me that would be chet (sin).

וְאָנֹכִ֛י SDBH But I [am] יְהוָ֥ה SDBH Hashem/Adonoi אֱלֹהֶ֖יךָ SDBH your G-d מֵאֶ֣רֶץ SDBH ever since the land מִצְרָ֑יִם SDBH of Egypt עֹ֛ד . . . אוֹשִֽׁיבְךָ֥ SDBH I will again make you dwell בָאֳהָלִ֖ים SDBH in tents כִּימֵ֥י SDBH as in the days מוֹעֵֽד׃ SDBH of the appointed feast

And I that am Hashem Eloheicha from Eretz Mitzrayim will yet make thee to dwell in oholim, as in the yamei mo'ed [i.e., Sukkot].

וְדִבַּ֙רְתִּי֙ SDBH I spoke עַל־ through הַנְּבִיאִ֔ים SDBH the prophets וְאָנֹכִ֖י SDBH and חָז֣וֹן SDBH their visions הִרְבֵּ֑יתִי multiplied וּבְיַ֥ד SDBH through הַנְּבִיאִ֖ים SDBH the prophets אֲדַמֶּֽה׃ SDBH I gave parables

I have also spoken to the nevi'im, and I have multiplied chazon (vision, revelation, prophecy), and spoken parables by the nevi'im.

אִם־ SDBH Is there גִּלְעָ֥ד SDBH [in] Gilead אָ֙וֶן֙ SDBH iniquity אַךְ־ SDBH They will surely שָׁ֣וְא SDBH to nothing הָי֔וּ come בַּגִּלְגָּ֖ל SDBH in Gilgal שְׁוָרִ֣ים SDBH bulls זִבֵּ֑חוּ SDBH Do they sacrifice גַּ֤ם SDBH Indeed מִזְבְּחוֹתָם֙ SDBH their altars [will be] כְּגַלִּ֔ים SDBH heaps of stones עַ֖ל in תַּלְמֵ֥י SDBH the furrows שָׂדָֽי׃ SDBH of the field

Is there aven (iniquity) in Gil`ad? Surely they are vanity; they sacrifice bullocks in Gilgal; yea, their mizbechot are as piles of stones in the furrows of the fields.

וַיִּבְרַ֥ח SDBH fled יַעֲקֹ֖ב SDBH Jacob שְׂדֵ֣ה SDBH to the land אֲרָ֑ם SDBH of Aram וַיַּעֲבֹ֤ד SDBH worked יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ SDBH and Israel בְּאִשָּׁ֔ה SDBH for a wife וּבְאִשָּׁ֖ה SDBH for a wife שָׁמָֽר׃ SDBH he tended [sheep]

And Ya'akov fled into the country of Aram, and Yisroel served for an isha, and for an isha he was shomer [over sheep].

וּבְנָבִ֕יא SDBH But by a prophet הֶעֱלָ֧ה SDBH brought יְהוָ֛ה SDBH Hashem/Adonoi אֶת־ SDBH - יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל SDBH Israel מִמִּצְרָ֑יִם SDBH out of Egypt וּבְנָבִ֖יא SDBH and by a prophet נִשְׁמָֽר׃ SDBH he was preserved

And by a navi Hashem brought Yisroel out of Mitzrayim, and shomer [Yisroel] a navi was.

הִכְעִ֥יס SDBH anger אֶפְרַ֖יִם SDBH Ephraim תַּמְרוּרִ֑ים SDBH has provoked bitter וְדָמָיו֙ SDBH his bloodguilt עָלָ֣יו upon him יִטּ֔וֹשׁ SDBH will leave וְחֶ֨רְפָּת֔וֹ SDBH for his contempt יָשִׁ֥יב SDBH and repay ל֖וֹ him אֲדֹנָֽיו׃ SDBH so his Lord

Ephrayim has provoked bitter anger; therefore shall He leave his blood-guiltiness upon him, and his scorn shall Adonoi of him return and repay unto him.
