הִֽתְקוֹשְׁשׁ֖וּ SDBH Gather yourselves וָק֑וֹשּׁוּ SDBH gather together הַגּ֖וֹי SDBH nation לֹ֥א SDBH O shameful נִכְסָֽף׃ SDBH . . .

Gather yourselves together, yea, gather together, O shameful nation;

בְּטֶ֙רֶם֙ SDBH before לֶ֣דֶת SDBH takes effect חֹ֔ק SDBH the decree כְּמֹ֖ץ SDBH like chaff עָ֣בַר SDBH passes י֑וֹם SDBH and the day בְּטֶ֣רֶם׀ SDBH before לֹא־ SDBH . . . יָב֣וֹא SDBH comes עֲלֵיכֶ֗ם upon you חֲרוֹן֙ SDBH the burning אַף־ SDBH anger יְהוָ֔ה SDBH Hashem/Adonoi בְּטֶ֙רֶם֙ SDBH before לֹא־ SDBH . . . יָב֣וֹא SDBH comes עֲלֵיכֶ֔ם upon you י֖וֹם SDBH the Day אַף־ SDBH anger יְהוָֽה׃ SDBH Hashem/Adonoi

Before the decree brings forth, before the day passes like the chaff, before the charon af Hashem comes upon you, before the Yom Af Hashem (Day of Hashem's Anger) comes upon you;

בַּקְּשׁ֤וּ SDBH Seek אֶת־ SDBH - יְהוָה֙ SDBH Hashem/Adonoi כָּל־ all עַנְוֵ֣י SDBH you humble הָאָ֔רֶץ SDBH of the earth אֲשֶׁ֥ר SDBH who מִשְׁפָּט֖וֹ SDBH His justice פָּעָ֑לוּ SDBH carry out בַּקְּשׁוּ־ SDBH Seek צֶ֙דֶק֙ SDBH righteousness בַּקְּשׁ֣וּ SDBH seek עֲנָוָ֔ה SDBH humility אוּלַי֙ SDBH Perhaps תִּסָּ֣תְר֔וּ SDBH you will be sheltered בְּי֖וֹם SDBH on the day אַף־ SDBH anger יְהוָֽה׃ SDBH Hashem/Adonoi

Seek ye Hashem, all ye anvei ha'aretz (humble of the land), which have wrought His mishpat; seek tzedek, seek anavah (meekness, humility); it may be ye shall be hid in the Yom Af Hashem.

כִּ֤י For עַזָּה֙ SDBH Gaza עֲזוּבָ֣ה SDBH abandoned תִֽהְיֶ֔ה will be וְאַשְׁקְל֖וֹן SDBH and Ashkelon לִשְׁמָמָ֑ה SDBH left in ruins אַשְׁדּ֗וֹד SDBH Ashdod בַּֽצָּהֳרַ֙יִם֙ SDBH at noon יְגָ֣רְשׁ֔וּהָ SDBH will be driven out וְעֶקְר֖וֹן SDBH and Ekron תֵּעָקֵֽר׃ס SDBH will be uprooted

For Azah (Gaza) shall be abandoned, and Ashkelon a desolation; they shall drive out Ashdod in broad day, and Ekron shall be uprooted.

ה֗וֹי SDBH Woe יֹֽשְׁבֵ֛י SDBH to the dwellers חֶ֥בֶל SDBH of הַיָּ֖ם SDBH the seacoast גּ֣וֹי SDBH O nation כְּרֵתִ֑ים SDBH of the Cherethites דְּבַר־ SDBH The word יְהוָ֣ה SDBH Hashem/Adonoi עֲלֵיכֶ֗ם is against you כְּנַ֙עַן֙ SDBH O Canaan אֶ֣רֶץ SDBH land פְּלִשְׁתִּ֔ים SDBH of the Philistines וְהַאֲבַדְתִּ֖יךְ SDBH I will destroy you מֵאֵ֥ין SDBH and no one will be יוֹשֵֽׁב׃ SDBH left

Hoy (Woe) unto the inhabitants of the seacoast, the nation of the Keretim (Cretans)! The Devar Hashem is against you, O Kena'an, eretz of the Pelishtim (Philistines). I will even destroy thee, that there no inhabitant remains.

וְֽהָיְתָ֞ה will become חֶ֣בֶל SDBH So the seacoast הַיָּ֗ם SDBH . . . נְוֺ֛ת SDBH [a land of] pastures כְּרֹ֥ת SDBH with wells רֹעִ֖ים SDBH for shepherds וְגִדְר֥וֹת SDBH and folds צֹֽאן׃ SDBH for sheep

And the seacoast shall be dwellings and meadows for ro'im (shepherds), and pens for tzon.

וְהָ֣יָה to חֶ֗בֶל SDBH The coast will belong לִשְׁאֵרִ֛ית SDBH the remnant בֵּ֥ית SDBH of the house יְהוּדָ֖ה SDBH of Judah עֲלֵיהֶ֣ם there יִרְע֑וּן SDBH they will find pasture בְּבָתֵּ֣י SDBH among the houses אַשְׁקְל֗וֹן SDBH of Ashkelon בָּעֶ֙רֶב֙ SDBH in the evening יִרְבָּצ֔וּן SDBH They will lie down כִּ֧י for יִפְקְדֵ֛ם SDBH will attend to them יְהוָ֥ה SDBH Hashem/Adonoi אֱלֹהֵיהֶ֖ם SDBH their G-d וְשָׁ֥ב SDBH and restore שְׁבוּתָם׃ SDBH their captives

And the coast shall be for the she'erit Bais Yehudah; they shall feed thereupon; in the batim (houses) of Ashkelon shall they lie down in the erev; for Hashem Eloheichem shall visit them, and restore their fortunes.

שָׁמַ֙עְתִּי֙ SDBH I have heard חֶרְפַּ֣ת SDBH the reproach מוֹאָ֔ב SDBH of Moab וְגִדּוּפֵ֖י SDBH and the insults בְּנֵ֣י SDBH of the Ammonites עַמּ֑וֹן SDBH . . . אֲשֶׁ֤ר SDBH who חֵֽרְפוּ֙ SDBH have taunted אֶת־ SDBH - עַמִּ֔י SDBH My people וַיַּגְדִּ֖ילוּ SDBH and threatened עַל־ . . . גְּבוּלָֽם׃ SDBH their borders

I have heard the reproach of Moav, and the revilings of the Bnei Ammon, whereby they have reproached My nation, and magnified themselves against their territory.

לָכֵ֣ן SDBH Therefore חַי־ SDBH live אָ֡נִי SDBH as surely as I נְאֻם֩ SDBH declares יְהוָ֨ה SDBH Hashem/Adonoi צְבָא֜וֹת SDBH of Hosts אֱלֹהֵ֣י SDBH the G-d יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל SDBH of Israel כִּֽי־ surely מוֹאָ֞ב SDBH Moab כִּסְדֹ֤ם SDBH like Sodom תִּֽהְיֶה֙ will be וּבְנֵ֤י SDBH and the Ammonites עַמּוֹן֙ SDBH . . . כַּֽעֲמֹרָ֔ה SDBH like Gomorrah מִמְשַׁ֥ק SDBH a place חָר֛וּל SDBH of weeds וּמִכְרֵה־ SDBH and מֶ֥לַח SDBH salt pits וּשְׁמָמָ֖ה SDBH wasteland עַד־ SDBH vvv עוֹלָ֑ם SDBH a perpetual שְׁאֵרִ֤ית SDBH The remnant עַמִּי֙ SDBH of My people יְבָזּ֔וּם SDBH will plunder them וְיֶ֥תֶר SDBH the remainder גּוֹי SDBH of My nation יִנְחָלֽוּם׃ SDBH will dispossess them

Therefore as I live, saith Hashem Tzva'os, Elohei Yisroel, Surely Moav shall be as Sodom, and the Bnei Ammon as Amora (Gomorrah), a place of weeds and salt pits, and desolation ad olam; the She'erit Ami shall plunder them, and the remnant of My nation shall possess them.

זֹ֥את SDBH This לָהֶ֖ם they shall have תַּ֣חַת SDBH in return for גְּאוֹנָ֑ם SDBH their pride כִּ֤י for חֵֽרְפוּ֙ SDBH taunting וַיַּגְדִּ֔לוּ SDBH and mocking עַל־ . . . עַ֖ם SDBH the people יְהוָ֥ה SDBH Hashem/Adonoi צְבָאֽוֹת׃ SDBH of Hosts

This shall they have in return for their ga'on (pride), because they have reproached and magnified themselves against the Am Hashem Tzva'os.

נוֹרָ֤א SDBH will be terrifying יְהוָה֙ SDBH Hashem/Adonoi עֲלֵיהֶ֔ם to them כִּ֣י when רָזָ֔ה SDBH He starves אֵ֖ת SDBH - כָּל־ all אֱלֹהֵ֣י SDBH the g-ds הָאָ֑רֶץ SDBH of the earth וְיִשְׁתַּֽחֲווּ־ SDBH will bow in worship לוֹ֙ to Him אִ֣ישׁ SDBH each מִמְּקוֹמ֔וֹ SDBH in its own place כֹּ֖ל of every אִיֵּ֥י SDBH shore הַגּוֹיִֽם׃ SDBH Then the nations

Hashem will be terrible unto them; for He will reduce to nothing all the elohei ha'aretz (g-ds of the land); and men shall worship Hashem, everyone from his place, even all the coasts and islands of the Goyim.

גַּם־ SDBH will אַתֶּ֣ם SDBH You too כּוּשִׁ֔ים SDBH O Cushites חַֽלְלֵ֥י SDBH be slain חַרְבִּ֖י SDBH by My sword הֵֽמָּה׃ SDBH . . .

Ye Ethiopians also, ye shall be slain by My cherev.

וְיֵ֤ט SDBH And He will stretch out יָדוֹ֙ SDBH His hand עַל־ against צָפ֔וֹן SDBH the north וִֽיאַבֵּ֖ד SDBH and destroy אֶת־ SDBH - אַשּׁ֑וּר SDBH Assyria וְיָשֵׂ֤ם SDBH He will make אֶת־ SDBH - נִֽינְוֵה֙ SDBH Nineveh לִשְׁמָמָ֔ה SDBH a desolation צִיָּ֖ה SDBH as dry כַּמִּדְבָּֽר׃ SDBH as a desert

And Hashem will stretch out His hand against the tzafon (north), and destroy Assyria; and will make Nineveh a desolation, a dry waste like a midbar.

וְרָבְצ֨וּ SDBH will lie down בְתוֹכָ֤הּ SDBH in her midst עֲדָרִים֙ SDBH Herds כָּל־ of every kind חַיְתוֹ־ SDBH creatures ג֔וֹי SDBH . . . גַּם־ SDBH Both קָאַת֙ SDBH the desert owl גַּם־ SDBH and קִפֹּ֔ד SDBH screech owl בְּכַפְתֹּרֶ֖יהָ SDBH atop her [pillars] יָלִ֑ינוּ SDBH will roost ק֠וֹל SDBH Their calls יְשׁוֹרֵ֤ר SDBH will sound בַּֽחַלּוֹן֙ SDBH from the window חֹ֣רֶב SDBH but desolation בַּסַּ֔ף SDBH will lie on the threshold כִּ֥י for אַרְזָ֖ה SDBH the beams of cedar עֵרָֽה׃ SDBH He will expose

And herds shall lie down in the midst of it, all the beasts of the Goyim; both the desert owl and the screech owl will roost on her columns; their voice shall hoot in the windows; desolation shall be in the thresholds; the beams of cedar will be exposed.

זֹ֠את SDBH This הָעִ֤יר SDBH city הָעַלִּיזָה֙ SDBH carefree הַיּוֹשֶׁ֣בֶת SDBH that dwells לָבֶ֔טַח SDBH securely הָאֹֽמְרָה֙ SDBH that thinks בִּלְבָבָ֔הּ SDBH to herself אֲנִ֖י SDBH I [am it] וְאַפְסִ֣י SDBH and [there is] none ע֑וֹד besides me אֵ֣יךְ׀ SDBH what הָיְתָ֣ה she has become לְשַׁמָּ֗ה SDBH a ruin מַרְבֵּץ֙ SDBH a resting place לַֽחַיָּ֔ה SDBH for beasts כֹּ֚ל Everyone עוֹבֵ֣ר SDBH who passes עָלֶ֔יהָ by her יִשְׁרֹ֖ק SDBH hisses יָנִ֥יעַ SDBH and shakes יָדֽוֹ׃ס SDBH his fist

This is HaIr HaAlizah (the rejoicing city) that dwelt carelessly, that said in her lev, I am, and there is none beside me; how is she become a desolation, a place for beasts to lie down in! Every one that passeth by her shall hiss, and shake his fist.
