Tehillim 71 — Hebrew–OJB Interlinear

בְּךָֽ־ In You יְהוָ֥ה SDBH Hashem/Adonoi חָסִ֑יתִי SDBH I have taken refuge אַל־ let me never אֵב֥וֹשָׁה SDBH be put to shame לְעוֹלָֽם׃ SDBH . . .

In Thee, Hashem, do I put my trust; let me not be put to shame l'olam.

בְּצִדְקָתְךָ֗ SDBH In Your justice תַּצִּילֵ֥נִי SDBH rescue וּֽתְפַלְּטֵ֑נִי SDBH and deliver me הַטֵּֽה־ SDBH incline אֵלַ֥י - אָ֝זְנְךָ֗ SDBH Your ear וְהוֹשִׁיעֵֽנִי׃ SDBH and save me

Deliver me in Thy tzedakah, and cause me to escape; incline Thine ear unto me, and hoshi'eini (save me).

הֱיֵ֤ה Be לִ֨י׀ . . . לְצ֥וּר SDBH my rock מָע֡וֹן SDBH of refuge לָב֗וֹא SDBH go תָּמִ֗יד SDBH where I can always צִוִּ֥יתָ SDBH Give the command לְהוֹשִׁיעֵ֑נִי SDBH to save me כִּֽי־ for סַלְעִ֖י SDBH are my rock וּמְצוּדָתִ֣י SDBH and my fortress אָֽתָּה׃ SDBH You

Be Thou Tzur Ma'on (a rock of habitation), whereunto I may resort tamid (continually); Thou hast given commandment to save me; for Thou art my rock and my fortress.

אֱ‍ֽלֹהַ֗י SDBH O my G-d פַּ֭לְּטֵנִי SDBH Deliver me מִיַּ֣ד SDBH from the hand רָשָׁ֑ע SDBH of the wicked מִכַּ֖ף SDBH from the grasp מְעַוֵּ֣ל SDBH of the unjust וְחוֹמֵץ׃ SDBH and ruthless

Deliver me, O Elohai, out of the yad of the rasha, out of the palm of the unrighteous and cruel man.

כִּֽי־ For אַתָּ֥ה SDBH You תִקְוָתִ֑י SDBH are my hope אֲדֹנָ֥י SDBH O Lord יְ֝הוִ֗ה SDBH Hashem/Adonoi מִבְטַחִ֥י SDBH my confidence מִנְּעוּרָֽי׃ SDBH from my youth

For Thou art my tikveh (hope), Adonoi Hashem; Thou art my trust from my youth.

עָלֶ֤יךָ׀ on You נִסְמַ֬כְתִּי SDBH I have leaned מִבֶּ֗טֶן SDBH since birth מִמְּעֵ֣י SDBH womb אִ֭מִּי SDBH from my mother’s אַתָּ֣ה SDBH You גוֹזִ֑י SDBH pulled me בְּךָ֖ for You תְהִלָּתִ֣י SDBH My praise תָמִֽיד׃ SDBH is always

By Thee have I been upheld from the beten (womb); Thou art He that took me out of the womb of immi; my tehillah (praise) shall be of Thee tamid (continually).

כְּ֭מוֹפֵת SDBH a portent הָיִ֣יתִי I have become לְרַבִּ֑ים SDBH to many וְ֝אַתָּ֗ה SDBH but You מַֽחֲסִי־ SDBH refuge עֹֽז׃ SDBH are my strong

I am as a mofet (portent) unto rabbim (many); but Thou art my strong refuge.

יִמָּ֣לֵא SDBH is filled פִ֭י SDBH My mouth תְּהִלָּתֶ֑ךָ SDBH [with] Your praise כָּל־ all הַ֝יּ֗וֹם SDBH day long תִּפְאַרְתֶּֽךָ׃ SDBH [and with] Your splendor

Let my mouth be filled with Thy tehillah (praise) and with Thy tiferet (glory) kol hayom.

אַֽל־ Do not תַּ֭שְׁלִיכֵנִי SDBH discard me לְעֵ֣ת SDBH . . . זִקְנָ֑ה SDBH in my old age כִּכְל֥וֹת SDBH fails כֹּ֝חִ֗י SDBH when my strength אַֽל־ do not תַּעַזְבֵֽנִי׃ SDBH forsake me

Cast me not off in the time of ziknah (old age); forsake me not when my ko'ach faileth.

כִּֽי־ For אָמְר֣וּ SDBH speak אוֹיְבַ֣י SDBH my enemies לִ֑י against me וְשֹׁמְרֵ֥י SDBH and those who lie in wait נַ֝פְשִׁ֗י SDBH for my life נוֹעֲצ֥וּ SDBH conspire יַחְדָּֽו׃ SDBH . . .

For mine oyevim speak against me; and they that lay in wait for my nefesh conspire together,

לֵ֭אמֹר SDBH saying אֱלֹהִ֣ים SDBH G-d עֲזָב֑וֹ SDBH has forsaken him רִֽדְפ֥וּ SDBH pursue him וְ֝תִפְשׂ֗וּהוּ SDBH and seize him כִּי־ for אֵ֥ין SDBH there is no מַצִּֽיל׃ SDBH one to rescue him

Saying, Elohim hath forsaken him; persecute and lay hold of him; for there is none to rescue him.

אֱ֭לֹהִים SDBH O G-d אַל־ Be not תִּרְחַ֣ק SDBH far מִמֶּ֑נִּי from me אֱ֝לֹהַ֗י SDBH O my G-d לְעֶזְרָ֥תִי SDBH to help me חִישָׁה׃ SDBH Hurry

O Elohim, be not far from me; O Elohai, make haste for my help.

יֵבֹ֣שׁוּ SDBH be ashamed יִכְלוּ֮ SDBH [and] consumed שֹׂטְנֵ֪י SDBH May the accusers נַ֫פְשִׁ֥י SDBH of my soul יַֽעֲט֣וּ SDBH be covered חֶ֭רְפָּה SDBH with scorn וּכְלִמָּ֑ה SDBH and disgrace מְ֝בַקְשֵׁ֗י SDBH may those who seek רָעָתִֽי׃ SDBH my harm

Let them be ashamed and consumed that are [satanic] adversaries to my nefesh; let them be covered with cherpah (reproach) and dishonor that seek my hurt.

14

וַ֭אֲנִי SDBH But I תָּמִ֣יד SDBH will always אֲיַחֵ֑ל SDBH hope וְ֝הוֹסַפְתִּ֗י SDBH You more עַל־ and כָּל־ more תְּהִלָּתֶֽךָ׃ SDBH and will praise

But I will hope tamid (continually), and will yet give tehillah to Thee more and more.

15

פִּ֤י׀ SDBH My mouth יְסַפֵּ֬ר SDBH will declare צִדְקָתֶ֗ךָ SDBH Your righteousness כָּל־ all day long הַיּ֥וֹם SDBH . . . תְּשׁוּעָתֶ֑ךָ SDBH and Your salvation כִּ֤י though לֹ֖א SDBH I cannot יָדַ֣עְתִּי SDBH know סְפֹרֽוֹת׃ SDBH their full measure

My mouth shall proclaim Thy tzedakah and Thy Teshuah (salvation) kol hayom; for I know not the limits thereof.

אָב֗וֹא SDBH I will come בִּ֭גְבֻרוֹת SDBH in the strength אֲדֹנָ֣י SDBH of the Lord יְהוִ֑ה SDBH G-D אַזְכִּ֖יר SDBH I will proclaim צִדְקָתְךָ֣ SDBH Your righteousness לְבַדֶּֽךָ׃ SDBH Yours alone

I will come in the gevurot (mighty acts) of Adonoi Hashem; I will make mention of Thy tzedakah, even of Thine only.

17

אֱ‍ֽלֹהִ֗ים SDBH O G-d לִמַּדְתַּ֥נִי SDBH You have taught me מִנְּעוּרָ֑י SDBH from my youth וְעַד־ SDBH and to this day הֵ֝֗נָּה SDBH . . . אַגִּ֥יד SDBH I proclaim נִפְלְאוֹתֶֽיךָ׃ SDBH Your marvelous deeds

O Elohim, Thou hast taught me from my youth; and hitherto have I declared Thy nifle'ot (wondrous works).

18

וְגַ֤ם SDBH Even עַד־ SDBH when זִקְנָ֨ה׀ SDBH I am old וְשֵׂיבָה֮ SDBH and gray אֱלֹהִ֪ים SDBH O G-d אַֽל־ do not תַּעַ֫זְבֵ֥נִי SDBH forsake me עַד־ SDBH until אַגִּ֣יד SDBH I proclaim זְרוֹעֲךָ֣ SDBH Your power לְד֑וֹר SDBH to the next generation לְכָל־ to all יָ֝ב֗וֹא SDBH who are to come גְּבוּרָתֶֽךָ׃ SDBH Your might

Now also when I am in ziknah (old age) and grayheaded, O Elohim, forsake me not; until I have declared Thy zero'a [Moshiach; see Isa 53:1] unto this generation, and Thy gevurah to everyone that is to come.

19

וְצִדְקָתְךָ֥ SDBH Your righteousness אֱלֹהִ֗ים SDBH O G-d עַד־ SDBH [reaches] to מָ֫ר֥וֹם SDBH the heavens אֲשֶׁר־ SDBH You who עָשִׂ֥יתָ SDBH have done גְדֹל֑וֹת SDBH great things אֱ֝לֹהִ֗ים SDBH O G-d מִ֣י SDBH Who כָמֽוֹךָ׃ SDBH is like You

Thy tzedakah also, O Elohim, is ad marom (to the heights). Thou Who hast done gedolot (great things); O Elohim, mi khamocha (who is like unto Thee)?

20

אֲשֶׁ֤ר SDBH Though הִרְאִיתַנוּ SDBH You have shown me צָר֥וֹת SDBH troubles רַבּ֗וֹת SDBH many וְרָ֫ע֥וֹת SDBH and misfortunes תָּשׁ֥וּב SDBH once again תְּחַיֵּינוּ SDBH You will revive me וּֽמִתְּהֹמ֥וֹת SDBH Even from the depths הָ֝אָ֗רֶץ SDBH of the earth תָּשׁ֥וּב SDBH back up תַּעֲלֵֽנִי׃ SDBH You will bring me

Thou, which hast showed me great and severe tzoros, shalt revive me again, and shalt bring me up again from the tehomot (abysses) of ha'aretz.

21

תֶּ֤רֶב׀ You will increase גְּֽדֻלָּתִ֗י SDBH my honor וְתִסֹּ֥ב SDBH once again תְּֽנַחֲמֵֽנִי׃ SDBH and comfort me

Thou shalt increase my gedolah, and comfort me on every side.

22

גַּם־ SDBH So אֲנִ֤י׀ SDBH I אוֹדְךָ֣ SDBH will praise You בִכְלִי־ SDBH with the harp נֶבֶל֮ SDBH . . . אֲמִתְּךָ֪ SDBH for Your faithfulness אֱלֹ֫הָ֥י SDBH O my G-d אֲזַמְּרָ֣ה SDBH I will sing praise לְךָ֣ to You בְכִנּ֑וֹר SDBH with the lyre קְ֝ד֗וֹשׁ SDBH O Holy One יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ SDBH of Israel

I will also praise Thee with the nevel (lyre), even Thy emes, O Elohai; unto Thee will I sing with the kinnor (harp), O Thou Kadosh Yisroel.

23

תְּרַנֵּ֣נָּ֣ה SDBH will shout for joy שְׂ֭פָתַי SDBH my lips כִּ֣י When אֲזַמְּרָה־ SDBH I sing praise לָּ֑ךְ to You וְ֝נַפְשִׁ֗י SDBH along with my soul אֲשֶׁ֣ר SDBH which פָּדִֽיתָ׃ SDBH You have redeemed

My lips shall shout for joy when I sing unto Thee; and my nefesh, which Thou hast purchased for redemption.

24

גַּם־ SDBH לְשׁוֹנִ֗י SDBH My tongue כָּל־ all day long הַ֭יּוֹם SDBH . . . תֶּהְגֶּ֣ה SDBH will indeed proclaim צִדְקָתֶ֑ךָ SDBH Your righteousness כִּי־ for בֹ֥שׁוּ SDBH are disgraced כִֽי־ and חָ֝פְר֗וּ SDBH confounded מְבַקְשֵׁ֥י SDBH those who seek רָעָתִֽי׃ SDBH my harm

My leshon also shall tell of Thy tzedakah kol hayom; for they are brought unto shame, they are humiliated that seek my hurt.
