לַמְנַצֵּ֥חַ SDBH For the choirmaster מִזְמ֗וֹר SDBH A Psalm לְדָוִ֥ד SDBH of David שִֽׁיר׃ SDBH A song לְךָ֤ You דֻֽמִיָּ֬ה SDBH awaits תְהִלָּ֓ה SDBH Praise אֱלֹ֘הִ֥ים SDBH O G-d בְּצִיּ֑וֹן SDBH in Zion וּ֝לְךָ֗ to You יְשֻׁלַּם־ SDBH will be fulfilled נֶֽדֶר׃ SDBH our vows

(For the one directing. Mizmor Dovid. Shir). Tehillah (praise) is due Thee, O Elohim, in Tziyon; And unto Thee shall the neder (vow) be performed.

שֹׁמֵ֥עַ SDBH O You who listen to תְּפִלָּ֑ה SDBH prayer עָ֝דֶ֗יךָ SDBH to You כָּל־ all בָּשָׂ֥ר SDBH people יָבֹֽאוּ׃ SDBH will come

O Thou that hearest tefillah (prayer), unto Thee shall kol basar come.

דִּבְרֵ֣י SDBH When iniquities עֲ֭וֺנֹת SDBH . . . גָּ֣בְרוּ SDBH prevail מֶ֑נִּי against me פְּ֝שָׁעֵ֗ינוּ SDBH our transgressions אַתָּ֥ה SDBH You תְכַפְּרֵֽם׃ SDBH atone for

Divrei avonot (instances of iniquity) overwhelm me; as for peysha'einu (our transgressions), Thou hast made kapporah for them.

אַשְׁרֵ֤י׀ SDBH Blessed תִּֽבְחַ֣ר SDBH is the one You choose וּתְקָרֵב֮ SDBH and bring near יִשְׁכֹּ֪ן SDBH to dwell חֲצֵ֫רֶ֥יךָ SDBH in Your courts נִ֭שְׂבְּעָה SDBH We are filled בְּט֣וּב SDBH with the goodness בֵּיתֶ֑ךָ SDBH of Your house קְ֝דֹ֗שׁ SDBH the holiness הֵיכָלֶֽךָ׃ SDBH of Your temple

Ashrei is the one whom Thou choosest, and causest to come near unto Thee, that he may dwell in Thy khatzerot; we shall be satisfied with the tov of Thy Beis, even of Thy Heikhal Kodesh.

נ֤וֹרָא֨וֹת׀ SDBH With awesome deeds בְּצֶ֣דֶק SDBH of righteousness תַּ֭עֲנֵנוּ SDBH You answer us אֱלֹהֵ֣י SDBH O G-d יִשְׁעֵ֑נוּ SDBH of our salvation מִבְטָ֥ח SDBH the hope כָּל־ of all קַצְוֵי־ SDBH the ends אֶ֝֗רֶץ SDBH of the earth וְיָ֣ם SDBH seas רְחֹקִֽים׃ SDBH and of the farthest

By nora'ot (awesome deeds, awe-inspiring things) of tzedek (justice) wilt Thou answer us, O Elohei Yish'einu (G-d of our salvation); Who art the hope of all the ends of eretz, and of them that are on the farthest seas;

מֵכִ֣ין SDBH You formed הָרִ֣ים SDBH the mountains בְּכֹח֑וֹ SDBH by Your power נֶ֝אְזָ֗ר SDBH having girded Yourself בִּגְבוּרָֽה׃ SDBH with might

Which by His ko'ach established the harim (mountains), being girded with gevurah;

מַשְׁבִּ֤יחַ׀ SDBH You stilled שְׁא֣וֹן SDBH the roaring יַ֭מִּים SDBH of the seas שְׁא֥וֹן SDBH the pounding גַּלֵּיהֶ֗ם SDBH of their waves וַהֲמ֥וֹן SDBH and the tumult לְאֻמִּֽים׃ SDBH of the nations

Which stilleth the roar of the seas, the roar of their waves, and the tumult of the Amim (peoples, nations).

וַיִּ֤ירְא֨וּ׀ SDBH fear יֹשְׁבֵ֣י SDBH Those who live קְ֭צָוֺת SDBH far away מֵאוֹתֹתֶ֑יךָ SDBH Your wonders מ֤וֹצָֽאֵי־ SDBH You make the dawn בֹ֖קֶר SDBH . . . וָעֶ֣רֶב SDBH and sunset תַּרְנִֽין׃ SDBH shout for joy

They also that dwell in the uttermost parts are afraid at Thy otot (signs); Thou makest the outgoing exits of boker and erev to resound with joy.

פָּקַ֥דְתָּ SDBH You attend to הָאָ֨רֶץ׀ SDBH the earth וַתְּשֹׁ֪קְקֶ֡הָ SDBH and water it רַבַּ֬ת SDBH with abundance תַּעְשְׁרֶ֗נָּה SDBH You enrich it פֶּ֣לֶג SDBH The streams אֱ֭לֹהִים SDBH of G-d מָ֣לֵא SDBH are full מָ֑יִם SDBH of water תָּכִ֥ין SDBH You prepare דְּ֝גָנָ֗ם SDBH our grain כִּי־ for כֵ֥ן SDBH for [the earth] תְּכִינֶֽהָ׃ SDBH by providing

Thou visitest ha'aretz, and waterest it; Thou greatly enrichest it with the peleg Elohim (fountain of G-d), which is full of mayim; Thou preparest them dagan (grain), for so Thou didst prepare it.

תְּלָמֶ֣יהָ SDBH its furrows רַ֭וֵּה SDBH You soak נַחֵ֣ת SDBH and level גְּדוּדֶ֑יהָ SDBH its ridges בִּרְבִיבִ֥ים SDBH with showers תְּ֝מֹגְגֶ֗נָּה SDBH You soften it צִמְחָ֥הּ SDBH its growth תְּבָרֵֽךְ׃ SDBH and bless

Thou waterest the furrows thereof abundantly; Thou settlest the ridges thereof; Thou makest it soft with showers; Thou blessest the tzemach (sprout, branch, see Zech 6:12) thereof.

עִ֭טַּרְתָּ SDBH You crown שְׁנַ֣ת SDBH the year טוֹבָתֶ֑ךָ SDBH with Your bounty וּ֝מַעְגָּלֶ֗יךָ SDBH and Your paths יִרְעֲפ֥וּן SDBH overflow דָּֽשֶׁן׃ SDBH with plenty

Thou crownest shnat tovatecha (the year with Thy goodness, bounty); and Thy paths drip with plenty.

יִ֭רְעֲפוּ SDBH overflow נְא֣וֹת SDBH The pastures מִדְבָּ֑ר SDBH of the wilderness וְ֝גִ֗יל SDBH with joy גְּבָע֥וֹת SDBH the hills תַּחְגֹּֽרְנָה׃ SDBH are robed

They drip upon the pastures of the midbar; and the hills are enrobed with gladness.

לָבְשׁ֬וּ SDBH are clothed כָרִ֨ים׀ SDBH The pastures הַצֹּ֗אן SDBH with flocks וַעֲמָקִ֥ים SDBH and the valleys יַֽעַטְפוּ־ SDBH are decked בָ֑ר SDBH with grain יִ֝תְרוֹעֲע֗וּ SDBH They shout in triumph אַף־ SDBH indeed יָשִֽׁירוּ׃ SDBH they sing

The meadows are clothed with tzon; the amakim (valleys) also are covered over with grain; they shout for joy, they also sing.
