לַמְנַצֵּ֗חַ SDBH For the choirmaster מַשְׂכִּ֥יל SDBH A Maskil לְדָוִֽד׃ SDBH of David בְּב֤וֹא׀ SDBH went דּוֹאֵ֣ג SDBH After Doeg הָאֲדֹמִי֮ SDBH the Edomite וַיַּגֵּ֪ד SDBH and told לְשָׁ֫א֥וּל SDBH to Saul וַיֹּ֥אמֶר SDBH ל֑וֹ him בָּ֥א SDBH has gone דָ֝וִ֗ד SDBH David אֶל־ to בֵּ֥ית SDBH the house אֲחִימֶֽלֶךְ׃ SDBH of Ahimelech מַה־ SDBH Why תִּתְהַלֵּ֣ל SDBH do you boast בְּ֭רָעָה SDBH of evil הַגִּבּ֑וֹר SDBH O mighty man חֶ֥סֶד SDBH The loving devotion אֵ֝֗ל SDBH of G-d כָּל־ [endures] all הַיּֽוֹם׃ SDBH day long

(For the one directing. A maskil of Dovid. When Doeg HaAdomi [the Edomite] went to Sha'ul and said to him, Dovid has gone to Bais Achimelech). Why boastest thou thyself in ra'ah, O gibbor? The chesed El is kol hayom.

הַ֭וּוֹת SDBH destruction תַּחְשֹׁ֣ב SDBH devises לְשׁוֹנֶ֑ךָ SDBH Your tongue כְּתַ֥עַר SDBH razor מְ֝לֻטָּ֗שׁ SDBH like a sharpened עֹשֵׂ֥ה SDBH O worker רְמִיָּֽה׃ SDBH of deceit

The leshon (tongue) deviseth treachery; like a sharp ta'ar (razor), working remiyyah (deceit).

אָהַ֣בְתָּ SDBH You love רָּ֣ע SDBH evil מִטּ֑וֹב SDBH more than good שֶׁ֓קֶר׀ SDBH falsehood מִדַּבֵּ֖ר SDBH more than speaking צֶ֣דֶק SDBH truth סֶֽלָה׃ SDBH Selah

Thou lovest rah more than tov; and sheker rather than to speak tzedek. Selah.

אָהַ֥בְתָּ SDBH You love כָֽל־ every דִּבְרֵי־ SDBH word בָ֗לַע SDBH that devours לְשׁ֣וֹן SDBH tongue מִרְמָֽה׃ SDBH O deceitful

Thou lovest all devouring words, O thou leshon mirmah (deceitful tongue).

גַּם־ SDBH Surely אֵל֮ SDBH G-d יִתָּצְךָ֪ SDBH will bring you down לָ֫נֶ֥צַח SDBH to everlasting ruin יַחְתְּךָ֣ SDBH He will snatch you up וְיִסָּחֲךָ֣ SDBH and tear you away מֵאֹ֑הֶל SDBH from [your] tent וְשֵֽׁרֶשְׁךָ֨ SDBH He will uproot you מֵאֶ֖רֶץ SDBH from the land חַיִּ֣ים SDBH of the living סֶֽלָה׃ SDBH Selah

El shall likewise demolish thee for netzach (eternity), He shall break thee, and pluck thee out of thy ohel, and uproot thee out of the Eretz Chayyim. Selah.

וְיִרְא֖וּ SDBH will see צַדִּיקִ֥ים SDBH The righteous וְיִירָ֗אוּ SDBH and fear וְעָלָ֥יו vvv יִשְׂחָֽקוּ׃ SDBH they will mock [the evildoer], saying

The tzaddikim also shall see, and fear, and shall laugh at him:

הִנֵּ֤ה Look at הַגֶּ֗בֶר SDBH the man לֹ֤א SDBH who did not יָשִׂ֥ים SDBH make אֱלֹהִ֗ים SDBH G-d מָֽע֫וּזּ֥וֹ SDBH his refuge וַ֭יִּבְטַח SDBH but trusted בְּרֹ֣ב in the abundance עָשְׁר֑וֹ SDBH of his wealth יָ֝עֹ֗ז SDBH [and] strengthened himself בְּהַוָּתֽוֹ׃ SDBH by destruction

Hinei, this is the gever (man) that made not Elohim his ma'oz; but trusted in the abundance of his osher (riches), and strengthened himself in his treachery.

וַאֲנִ֤י׀ SDBH But I כְּזַ֣יִת SDBH am like an olive tree רַ֭עֲנָן SDBH flourishing בְּבֵ֣ית SDBH in the house אֱלֹהִ֑ים SDBH of G-d בָּטַ֥חְתִּי SDBH I trust בְחֶֽסֶד־ SDBH in the loving devotion אֱ֝לֹהִ֗ים SDBH of G-d עוֹלָ֥ם SDBH forever וָעֶֽד׃ SDBH and ever

But I am like a green zayit (olive tree) in the Beis Elohim; I trust in the chesed Elohim olam va'ed.

אוֹדְךָ֣ SDBH I will praise You לְ֭עוֹלָם SDBH forever כִּ֣י because עָשִׂ֑יתָ SDBH You have done it וַאֲקַוֶּ֖ה SDBH I will wait on שִׁמְךָ֥ SDBH Your name כִֽי־ for ט֝֗וֹב SDBH it is good נֶ֣גֶד in the presence חֲסִידֶֽיךָ׃ SDBH of Your saints

I will give Thee thanks l'olam, because Thou hast done it; and I will wait on Shimecha; for it is tov before Thy chasidim.
