Tehillim 39 — Hebrew–OJB Interlinear

לַמְנַצֵּ֥חַ SDBH For the choirmaster לִידִיתוּן SDBH For Jeduthun מִזְמ֥וֹר SDBH A Psalm לְדָוִֽד׃ SDBH of David אָמַ֗רְתִּי SDBH I said אֶֽשְׁמְרָ֣ה SDBH I will watch דְרָכַי֮ SDBH my ways מֵחֲט֪וֹא SDBH so that I will not sin בִלְשׁ֫וֹנִ֥י SDBH with my tongue אֶשְׁמְרָ֥ה SDBH I will guard לְפִ֥י SDBH my mouth מַחְס֑וֹם SDBH with a muzzle בְּעֹ֖ד as long as רָשָׁ֣ע SDBH the wicked לְנֶגְדִּֽי׃ are present

(For the one directing, even to Yedutun. Mizmor Dovid). I said, I will be shomer over my ways, that I sin not with my leshon; I will be shomer over my mouth with a muzzle, while the rashah is before me.

נֶאֱלַ֣מְתִּי SDBH I was speechless ד֭וּמִיָּה SDBH and still הֶחֱשֵׁ֣יתִי SDBH I remained silent מִטּ֑וֹב SDBH [even] from [speaking] good וּכְאֵבִ֥י SDBH and my sorrow נֶעְכָּֽר׃ SDBH was stirred

I was dumb with silence, I held my peace for the sake of tov; and my distress grew severe.

חַם־ SDBH grew hot לִבִּ֨י׀ SDBH My heart בְּקִרְבִּ֗י SDBH within me בַּהֲגִיגִ֥י SDBH as I mused תִבְעַר־ SDBH burned אֵ֑שׁ SDBH the fire דִּ֝בַּ֗רְתִּי SDBH [Then] I spoke בִּלְשֽׁוֹנִי׃ SDBH with my tongue

My lev became hot within me; while I was musing the eish burned; then I spoke with my leshon,

הוֹדִ֘יעֵ֤נִי SDBH Show me יְהוָ֨ה׀ SDBH Hashem/Adonoi קִצִּ֗י SDBH my end וּמִדַּ֣ת SDBH and the measure יָמַ֣י SDBH of my days מַה־ SDBH how הִ֑יא SDBH . . . אֵ֝דְעָ֗ה SDBH Let me know מֶה־ SDBH . . . חָדֵ֥ל SDBH fleeting אָֽנִי׃ SDBH my life is

Hashem, make me to know mine end, and the measure of my yamim, what it is; that I may have da'as of how chadel (fleeting, frail) I am.

הִנֵּ֤ה You, indeed טְפָח֨וֹת׀ SDBH [as] handbreadths נָ֘תַ֤תָּה have made יָמַ֗י SDBH my days וְחֶלְדִּ֣י SDBH and my lifetime כְאַ֣יִן SDBH as nothing נֶגְדֶּ֑ךָ before You אַ֥ךְ SDBH Truly כָּֽל־ each הֶ֥בֶל SDBH exists as but a breath כָּל־ . . . אָ֝דָ֗ם SDBH man נִצָּ֥ב SDBH at his best סֶֽלָה׃ SDBH Selah

Hinei, Thou hast made my yamim as a handbreadth, and mine lifespan is as nothing before Thee; verily kol adam stand as kol hevel (altogether vanity). Selah.

אַךְ־ SDBH Surely בְּצֶ֤לֶם׀ SDBH like a phantom יִֽתְהַלֶּךְ־ SDBH goes about אִ֗ישׁ SDBH every man אַךְ־ SDBH surely הֶ֥בֶל SDBH in vain יֶהֱמָי֑וּן SDBH he bustles יִ֝צְבֹּ֗ר SDBH he heaps up [riches] וְֽלֹא־ SDBH not יֵדַ֥ע SDBH knowing מִי־ SDBH who אֹסְפָֽם׃ SDBH will haul them away

Surely every ish walketh in a tzel (shadow); surely they are in turmoil in vain; he heapeth up riches, and hath no da'as of who shall gather them.

וְעַתָּ֣ה SDBH And now מַה־ SDBH for what קִּוִּ֣יתִי SDBH do I wait אֲדֹנָ֑י SDBH O Lord תּ֝וֹחַלְתִּ֗י SDBH My hope is לְךָ֣ in הִֽיא׃ SDBH You

And now, Adonoi, what do I wait for? My hope is in Thee.

מִכָּל־ from all פְּשָׁעַ֥י SDBH my transgressions הַצִּילֵ֑נִי SDBH Deliver me חֶרְפַּ֥ת SDBH the reproach נָ֝בָ֗ל SDBH of fools אַל־ do not תְּשִׂימֵֽנִי׃ SDBH make me

Save me from all my peysha'im; make me not the reproach of the foolish.

נֶ֭אֱלַמְתִּי SDBH I have become mute לֹ֣א SDBH I do not אֶפְתַּח־ SDBH open פִּ֑י SDBH my mouth כִּ֖י because [of what] אַתָּ֣ה SDBH You עָשִֽׂיתָ׃ SDBH have done

I was silent, I opened not my mouth; because Atah (Thou) did it.

הָסֵ֣ר SDBH Remove מֵעָלַ֣י from me נִגְעֶ֑ךָ SDBH Your scourge מִתִּגְרַ֥ת SDBH by the force יָ֝דְךָ֗ SDBH of Your hand אֲנִ֣י SDBH I כָלִֽיתִי׃ SDBH am perishing

Remove Thy nega (stroke, scourge) away from me; I am consumed by the blow of Thine yad.

בְּֽתוֹכָ֘ח֤וֹת SDBH and correct עַל־ for עָוֺ֨ן׀ SDBH his iniquity יִסַּ֬רְתָּ SDBH You discipline אִ֗ישׁ SDBH a man וַתֶּ֣מֶס SDBH consuming כָּעָ֣שׁ SDBH like a moth חֲמוּד֑וֹ SDBH what he holds dear אַ֤ךְ SDBH surely הֶ֖בֶל SDBH [is] but a vapor כָּל־ each אָדָ֣ם SDBH man סֶֽלָה׃ SDBH Selah

When Thou with rebukes dost correct man for avon (iniquity), Thou makest his beauty to consume away like a moth: surely kol adam are hevel (vanity). Selah.

שִֽׁמְעָ֥ה־ SDBH Hear תְפִלָּתִ֨י׀ SDBH my prayer יְהוָ֡ה SDBH Hashem/Adonoi וְשַׁוְעָתִ֨י׀ SDBH to my cry for help הַאֲזִינָה֮ SDBH and give ear אֶֽל־ to דִּמְעָתִ֗י SDBH my weeping אַֽל־ do not תֶּ֫חֱרַ֥שׁ SDBH be deaf כִּ֤י For גֵ֣ר SDBH am a foreigner אָנֹכִ֣י SDBH I עִמָּ֑ךְ dwelling with You תּ֝וֹשָׁ֗ב SDBH a stranger כְּכָל־ like all אֲבוֹתָֽי׃ SDBH my fathers

Hear my tefillah, Hashem, and give ear unto my cry; hold not Thy peace at my weeping; for I am a ger with Thee, and a sojourner, as were all my Avot.

הָשַׁ֣ע SDBH Turn Your gaze מִמֶּ֣נִּי away from me וְאַבְלִ֑יגָה SDBH that I may again be cheered בְּטֶ֖רֶם SDBH before אֵלֵ֣ךְ SDBH I depart וְאֵינֶֽנִּי׃ SDBH and am no more

O spare me from Thy frown, that I may recover strength, before I depart, v'eineni (and I be no more). [T.N. ANIMAL SACRIFICES CANNOT TAKE AWAY SIN; THEY ARE ONLY A SHADOW OF THE KORBAN NEFESH OF MOSHIACH. SEE PS 40 AND MJ CHP 10; ISA 53:10.]
