Tehillim 137 — Hebrew–OJB Interlinear

עַ֥ל By נַהֲר֨וֹת׀ SDBH the rivers בָּבֶ֗ל SDBH of Babylon שָׁ֣ם SDBH - יָ֭שַׁבְנוּ SDBH we sat גַּם־ SDBH and בָּכִ֑ינוּ SDBH wept בְּ֝זָכְרֵ֗נוּ SDBH when we remembered אֶת־ SDBH - צִיּֽוֹן׃ SDBH Zion

By the rivers of Babylon, there we sat down, yes, we wept, when we remembered Tziyon.

עַֽל־ There on עֲרָבִ֥ים SDBH the willows בְּתוֹכָ֑הּ SDBH . . . תָּ֝לִ֗ינוּ SDBH we hung כִּנֹּרוֹתֵֽינוּ׃ SDBH our harps

We hung up our kinnorot (lyres) upon the willows in the midst thereof.

כִּ֤י for שָׁ֨ם SDBH there שְֽׁאֵל֪וּנוּ SDBH requested שׁוֹבֵ֡ינוּ SDBH our captors דִּבְרֵי־ SDBH . . . שִׁ֭יר SDBH a song וְתוֹלָלֵ֣ינוּ SDBH our tormentors demanded שִׂמְחָ֑ה SDBH songs of joy שִׁ֥ירוּ SDBH Sing לָ֝֗נוּ us מִשִּׁ֥יר SDBH a song צִיּֽוֹן׃ SDBH of Zion

For there they that carried us away captive required of us a shir (song); and they that tormented us required of us simchah, saying, Sing us one of the Shir Tziyon.

אֵ֗יךְ SDBH How נָשִׁ֥יר SDBH can we sing אֶת־ SDBH - שִׁיר־ SDBH a song יְהוָ֑ה SDBH Hashem/Adonoi עַ֝֗ל in אַדְמַ֥ת SDBH land נֵכָֽר׃ SDBH a foreign

How shall we sing Shir Hashem in an admat nekhar (foreign land).

אִֽם־ SDBH If אֶשְׁכָּחֵ֥ךְ SDBH I forget you יְֽרוּשָׁלִָ֗ם SDBH O Jerusalem תִּשְׁכַּ֥ח SDBH cease to function יְמִינִֽי׃ SDBH may my right hand

If I forget thee, O Yerushalayim, let my yamin (right hand) forget [i.e., have paralysis].

תִּדְבַּ֥ק־ SDBH cling לְשׁוֹנִ֨י׀ SDBH May my tongue לְחִכִּי֮ SDBH to the roof of my mouth אִם־ SDBH if לֹ֪א SDBH I do not אֶ֫זְכְּרֵ֥כִי SDBH remember you אִם־ SDBH if לֹ֣א SDBH I do not אַ֭עֲלֶה SDBH exalt אֶת־ SDBH - יְרוּשָׁלִַ֑ם SDBH Jerusalem עַ֝֗ל as רֹ֣אשׁ SDBH my greatest שִׂמְחָתִֽי׃ SDBH joy

If I do not remember thee, let my leshon cleave to the roof of my mouth; if I prefer not Yerushalayim above my rosh simchah (chief joy).

זְכֹ֤ר SDBH Remember יְהוָ֨ה׀ SDBH Hashem/Adonoi לִבְנֵ֬י SDBH the sons אֱד֗וֹם SDBH of Edom אֵת֮ SDBH - י֤וֹם SDBH on the day יְֽרוּשָׁ֫לִָ֥ם SDBH Jerusalem [fell] הָ֭אֹ֣מְרִים SDBH they said עָ֤רוּ׀ SDBH Destroy it עָ֑רוּ SDBH tear it down עַ֝֗ד SDBH to הַיְס֥וֹד SDBH its foundations בָּֽהּ׃

Remember, Hashem, the Bnei Edom in the Yom Yerushalayim; who said, Raze it, raze it, even to the yesod (foundation) thereof.

בַּת־ SDBH O Daughter בָּבֶ֗ל SDBH of Babylon הַשְּׁד֫וּדָ֥ה SDBH doomed to destruction אַשְׁרֵ֥י SDBH blessed שֶׁיְשַׁלֶּם־ SDBH is he who repays לָ֑ךְ you אֶת־ SDBH - גְּ֝מוּלֵ֗ךְ SDBH as שֶׁגָּמַ֥לְתְּ SDBH you have done לָֽנוּ׃ to us

O Bat Bavel, who art to be destroyed, ashrei shall he be, that repayeth thee the gemul thou hast done to us.

אַשְׁרֵ֤י׀ SDBH Blessed is שֶׁיֹּאחֵ֓ז SDBH he who seizes וְנִפֵּ֬ץ SDBH and dashes אֶֽת־ SDBH them עֹ֝לָלַ֗יִךְ SDBH your infants אֶל־ against הַסָּֽלַע׃ SDBH the rocks

Ashrei shall he be, that taketh and dasheth thy olalim against the sela.
