שִׁ֗יר SDBH A song הַֽמַּ֫עֲל֥וֹת SDBH of ascents רַ֭בַּת SDBH Many a time צְרָר֣וּנִי SDBH they have persecuted me מִנְּעוּרַ֑י SDBH from my youth יֹֽאמַר־ SDBH declare נָ֝א now יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ SDBH let Israel

(Shir HaMa'alot) Many a time have they afflicted me from my ne'ur, may Yisroel now say;

רַ֭בַּת SDBH many a time צְרָר֣וּנִי SDBH they have persecuted me מִנְּעוּרָ֑י SDBH from my youth גַּ֝ם SDBH but לֹא־ SDBH they have not יָ֥כְלוּ SDBH prevailed לִֽי׃ against me

Many a time have they afflicted me from my ne'ur (youth); yet they have not prevailed against me.

עַל־ over גַּ֭בִּי SDBH my back חָרְשׁ֣וּ SDBH The plowmen חֹרְשִׁ֑ים SDBH plowed הֶ֝אֱרִ֗יכוּ SDBH long לְמַעֲנוֹתָם׃ SDBH they made their furrows

The choreshim (plowers) plowed upon my back; they made long their furrows.

יְהוָ֥ה SDBH Hashem/Adonoi צַדִּ֑יק SDBH is righteous קִ֝צֵּ֗ץ SDBH He has cut me עֲב֣וֹת SDBH from the cords רְשָׁעִֽים׃ SDBH of the wicked

Hashem is tzaddik; He hath cut asunder the cords of the resha'im.

יֵ֭בֹשׁוּ SDBH in shame וְיִסֹּ֣גוּ SDBH be turned אָח֑וֹר SDBH back כֹּ֝֗ל May all שֹׂנְאֵ֥י SDBH who hate צִיּֽוֹן׃ SDBH Zion

Let them all be confounded and turned back that hate Tziyon [i.e, all antiSemites].

יִ֭הְיוּ May they be כַּחֲצִ֣יר SDBH like grass גַּגּ֑וֹת SDBH on the rooftops שֶׁקַּדְמַ֖ת SDBH before שָׁלַ֣ף SDBH it can grow יָבֵֽשׁ׃ SDBH which withers

Let them be as the khatzir (grass) upon the housetops, which withereth before it groweth up;

שֶׁלֹּ֤א SDBH unable מִלֵּ֖א SDBH to fill כַפּ֥וֹ SDBH the hands קוֹצֵ֗ר SDBH of the reaper וְחִצְנ֥וֹ SDBH or the arms מְעַמֵּֽר׃ SDBH of the binder of sheaves

With it the kotzer (reaper) filleth not his yad; nor he that gathereth sheaves, his bosom.

וְלֹ֤א SDBH May none אָֽמְר֨וּ׀ SDBH say [to them] הָעֹבְרִ֗ים SDBH who pass by בִּרְכַּֽת־ SDBH The blessing יְהוָ֥ה SDBH Hashem/Adonoi אֲלֵיכֶ֑ם be on you בֵּרַ֥כְנוּ SDBH we bless אֶ֝תְכֶ֗ם SDBH you בְּשֵׁ֣ם SDBH in the name יְהוָֽה׃ SDBH Hashem/Adonoi

Neither do they which go by say, Birkat Hashem be upon you; we bless you b'Shem Hashem.
