שִׁ֥יר SDBH A song הַֽמַּֽעֲל֗וֹת SDBH of ascents לִשְׁלֹ֫מֹ֥ה SDBH Of Solomon אִם־ SDBH Unless יְהוָ֤ה׀ SDBH Hashem/Adonoi לֹא־ SDBH . . . יִבְנֶ֬ה SDBH builds בַ֗יִת SDBH the house שָׁ֤וְא׀ SDBH vain עָמְל֣וּ SDBH labor בוֹנָ֣יו SDBH its builders בּ֑וֹ in אִם־ SDBH unless יְהוָ֥ה SDBH Hashem/Adonoi לֹֽא־ SDBH . . . יִשְׁמָר־ SDBH protects עִ֝֗יר SDBH the city שָׁ֤וְא׀ SDBH in vain שָׁקַ֬ד SDBH stand guard שׁוֹמֵֽר׃ SDBH its watchmen

(Shir HaMa'alot, of Shlomo). Except Hashem build the bais, they that build it labor in vain; except Hashem is shomer over the city, the shomair (watchman) stands guard in vain.

שָׁ֤וְא SDBH In vain לָכֶ֨ם׀ you מַשְׁכִּ֪ימֵי SDBH early ק֡וּם SDBH rise מְאַֽחֲרֵי־ SDBH late שֶׁ֗בֶת SDBH and stay up אֹ֭כְלֵי SDBH to eat לֶ֣חֶם SDBH for bread הָעֲצָבִ֑ים SDBH toiling כֵּ֤ן SDBH for יִתֵּ֖ן He gives לִֽידִיד֣וֹ SDBH to His beloved שֵׁנָֽא׃ SDBH sleep

It is vain for you to rise up early, to sit up late, to eat the lechem ha'atzavim (bread of toils); for so He giveth his beloved sleep.

הִנֵּ֤ה are indeed נַחֲלַ֣ת SDBH a heritage יְהוָ֣ה SDBH Hashem/Adonoi בָּנִ֑ים SDBH Children שָׂ֝כָ֗ר SDBH [is His] reward פְּרִ֣י SDBH [and] the fruit הַבָּֽטֶן׃ SDBH of the womb

Hinei, banim are nachalat Hashem; and the p'ri habeten is a zachar (reward).

כְּחִצִּ֥ים SDBH Like arrows בְּיַד־ SDBH in the hand גִּבּ֑וֹר SDBH of a warrior כֵּ֝֗ן SDBH so [are] בְּנֵ֣י SDBH children הַנְּעוּרִֽים׃ SDBH [born in] one’s youth

As khitzim (arrows) are in the yad of a gibbor; so are bnei haneurim (children born in one's youth).

אַשְׁרֵ֤י SDBH Blessed הַגֶּ֗בֶר SDBH is the man אֲשֶׁ֤ר SDBH whose מִלֵּ֥א SDBH is full אֶת־ SDBH - אַשְׁפָּת֗וֹ SDBH quiver מֵ֫הֶ֥ם of them לֹֽא־ SDBH He will not יֵבֹ֑שׁוּ SDBH be put to shame כִּֽי־ when יְדַבְּר֖וּ SDBH he confronts אֶת־ SDBH - אוֹיְבִ֣ים SDBH the enemies בַּשָּֽׁעַר׃ SDBH at the gate

Ashrei hagever that hath his quiver full of them; they shall not be ashamed, but they shall speak with the oyevim basha'ar (enemy at the gate).
