Iyov 33 — Hebrew–OJB Interlinear

וְֽאוּלָ֗ם SDBH But שְׁמַֽע־ SDBH hear נָ֣א now אִיּ֣וֹב SDBH O Job מִלָּ֑י SDBH my speech וְֽכָל־ to all דְּבָרַ֥י SDBH my words הַאֲזִֽינָה׃ SDBH and listen

Wherefore, Iyov, now, hear my speeches, and pay heed to all my words.

הִנֵּה־ Behold נָ֭א . . . פָּתַ֣חְתִּי SDBH I will open פִ֑י SDBH my mouth דִּבְּרָ֖ה SDBH my address לְשׁוֹנִ֣י SDBH of my tongue בְחִכִּֽי׃ SDBH is on the tip

Hinei, now I have opened my mouth, my leshon hath spoken in my mouth.

יֹֽשֶׁר־ SDBH are from an upright לִבִּ֥י SDBH heart אֲמָרָ֑י SDBH My words וְדַ֥עַת SDBH what I know שְׂ֝פָתַ֗י SDBH and my lips בָּר֥וּר SDBH sincerely מִלֵּֽלוּ׃ SDBH speak

My words shall be of my yosher lev (the uprightness of my heart), and my lips shall utter da'as that is pure.

רֽוּחַ־ SDBH The Spirit אֵ֥ל SDBH of G-d עָשָׂ֑תְנִי SDBH has made me וְנִשְׁמַ֖ת SDBH and the breath שַׁדַּ֣י SDBH of the Almighty תְּחַיֵּֽנִי׃ SDBH gives me life

The Ruach El [Ruach Hakodesh] hath made me, and the Neshamah of Shaddai hath given me life.

אִם־ SDBH if תּוּכַ֥ל SDBH you can הֲשִׁיבֵ֑נִי SDBH Refute me עֶרְכָ֥ה SDBH prepare your case לְ֝פָנַ֗י and confront me הִתְיַצָּֽבָה׃ SDBH . . .

Im (If) thou canst, answer me; set thy words in order in my presence; take thy stand.

הֵן־ - אֲנִ֣י SDBH I כְפִ֣יךָ SDBH . . . לָאֵ֑ל SDBH am just like you before G-d מֵ֝חֹ֗מֶר SDBH from clay קֹרַ֥צְתִּי SDBH formed גַם־ SDBH was also אָֽנִי׃ SDBH I

See, I am like thee, of El, from chomer (clay) was I taken also.

הִנֵּ֣ה Surely אֵ֭מָתִי SDBH fear of me לֹ֣א SDBH no תְבַעֲתֶ֑ךָּ SDBH should terrify you וְ֝אַכְפִּ֗י SDBH will my hand עָלֶ֥יךָ upon you לֹא־ SDBH nor יִכְבָּֽד׃ SDBH be heavy

Hinei, my terror shall not make thee afraid, neither shall my pressure be heavy upon thee.

8

אַ֭ךְ SDBH Surely אָמַ֣רְתָּ SDBH you have spoken בְאָזְנָ֑י SDBH in my hearing וְק֖וֹל SDBH . . . מִלִּ֣ין SDBH these very words אֶשְׁמָֽע׃ SDBH and I have heard

Surely thou hast spoken in my ozen, and I have heard the voice of thy words, saying,

זַ֥ךְ SDBH am pure אֲנִ֗י SDBH I בְּֽלִ֫י SDBH without פָ֥שַׁע SDBH transgression חַ֥ף SDBH am clean אָנֹכִ֑י SDBH I וְלֹ֖א SDBH with no עָוֺ֣ן SDBH iniquity לִֽי׃ in me

I am pure without peysha; I am clean; neither is there avon in me [Yn 8:46].

הֵ֣ן Yet תְּ֭נוּאוֹת SDBH occasions עָלַ֣י against me יִמְצָ֑א SDBH [G-d] finds יַחְשְׁבֵ֖נִי SDBH He counts me לְאוֹיֵ֣ב SDBH enemy לֽוֹ׃ as His

Yet He findeth tenuot (occasions) against me, He counteth me for his oyev,

יָשֵׂ֣ם SDBH He puts בַּסַּ֣ד SDBH in the stocks רַגְלָ֑י SDBH my feet יִ֝שְׁמֹ֗ר SDBH He watches over כָּל־ all אָרְחֹתָֽי׃ SDBH my paths

He putteth my raglayim in the stocks, He watcheth all my orkhot. [

12

הֶן־ Behold זֹ֣את SDBH in this matter לֹא־ SDBH you are not צָדַ֣קְתָּ SDBH right אֶעֱנֶ֑ךָּ SDBH I will answer you כִּֽי־ for יִרְבֶּ֥ה is greater אֱ֝ל֗וֹהַ SDBH G-d מֵאֱנֽוֹשׁ׃ SDBH than man

But in this thou art not right; I will answer thee, that Eloah is greater than enosh.

מַ֭דּוּעַ SDBH Why אֵלָ֣יו to Him רִיב֑וֹתָ SDBH do you complain כִּ֥י that כָל־ . . . דְּ֝בָרָ֗יו SDBH a man asks לֹ֣א־ SDBH nothing יַעֲנֶֽה׃ SDBH He answers

Why dost thou contend against Him? For He giveth not account of any of His matters.

14

כִּֽי־ For בְאַחַ֥ת SDBH in one [way] יְדַבֶּר־ SDBH speaks אֵ֑ל SDBH G-d וּ֝בִשְׁתַּ֗יִם SDBH and in another לֹ֣א SDBH [yet] no one יְשׁוּרֶֽנָּה׃ SDBH notices

For El speaketh once, yea twice, yet man perceiveth it not.

15

בַּחֲל֤וֹם׀ SDBH In a dream חֶזְי֬וֹן SDBH in a vision לַ֗יְלָה SDBH in the night בִּנְפֹ֣ל SDBH falls תַּ֭רְדֵּמָה SDBH when deep sleep עַל־ upon אֲנָשִׁ֑ים SDBH men בִּ֝תְנוּמ֗וֹת SDBH as they slumber עֲלֵ֣י on מִשְׁכָּֽב׃ SDBH their beds

In a chalom, in a chezyon lailah, when deep sleep falleth upon anashim, in slumberings upon the mishkav (bed),

אָ֣ז SDBH - יִ֭גְלֶה SDBH He opens אֹ֣זֶן SDBH their ears אֲנָשִׁ֑ים SDBH . . . וּבְמֹ֖סָרָ֣ם SDBH with warnings יַחְתֹּֽם׃ SDBH and terrifies them

Then He openeth the ozen anashim, and sealeth their admonition

17

לְ֭הָסִיר SDBH to turn אָדָ֣ם SDBH a man מַעֲשֶׂ֑ה SDBH from wrongdoing וְגֵוָ֖ה SDBH pride מִגֶּ֣בֶר SDBH from יְכַסֶּֽה׃ SDBH and keep him

That He may turn them aside from their deeds, and hide pride from gever (man).

18

יַחְשֹׂ֣ךְ SDBH to preserve נַ֭פְשׁוֹ SDBH his soul מִנִּי־ from שָׁ֑חַת SDBH the Pit וְ֝חַיָּת֗וֹ SDBH and his life מֵעֲבֹ֥ר SDBH from perishing בַּשָּֽׁלַח׃ SDBH by the sword

He keepeth back his nefesh from the shachat, and his life from the overthrow of the sword.

19

וְהוּכַ֣ח SDBH A man is also chastened בְּ֭מַכְאוֹב SDBH with pain עַל־ on מִשְׁכָּב֑וֹ SDBH his bed וְרִיב SDBH distress עֲצָמָ֣יו SDBH in his bones אֵתָֽן׃ SDBH and constant

He is chastened also with pain upon his mishkav, and the continual strife in his atzmot;

20

וְזִֽהֲמַ֣תּוּ SDBH detests חַיָּת֣וֹ SDBH so that he לָ֑חֶם SDBH his bread וְ֝נַפְשׁ֗וֹ SDBH and his soul מַאֲכַ֥ל SDBH food תַּאֲוָֽה׃ SDBH [loathes] his favorite

So that his life abhorreth lechem, and his nefesh dainty food.

21

יִ֣כֶל SDBH wastes away בְּשָׂר֣וֹ SDBH His flesh מֵרֹ֑אִי SDBH from sight וּשְׁפִי SDBH protrude עַ֝צְמוֹתָ֗יו SDBH bones לֹ֣א SDBH and his hidden רֻאּֽוּ׃ SDBH . . .

His basar is consumed away, that it cannot be seen; and his atzmot that were not seen stick out.

22

וַתִּקְרַ֣ב SDBH draws near לַשַּׁ֣חַת SDBH to the Pit נַפְשׁ֑וֹ SDBH He וְ֝חַיָּת֗וֹ SDBH and his life לַֽמְמִתִֽים׃ SDBH to the messengers of death

Yea, his nefesh draweth near unto the shachat, and his life to the ones bringing death.

23

אִם־ SDBH Yet if יֵ֤שׁ there is עָלָ֨יו׀ on his side מַלְאָ֗ךְ SDBH a messenger מֵלִ֗יץ SDBH mediator אֶחָ֥ד SDBH one מִנִּי־ in אָ֑לֶף SDBH a thousand לְהַגִּ֖יד SDBH to tell לְאָדָ֣ם SDBH a man יָשְׁרֽוֹ׃ SDBH what is right for him

If there be a malach (messenger, i.e., Malach HaBrit, HaAdon [see Malachi 3:1] ) as melitz (mediator) for him, one of a thousand, who declares a person yashar (upright, Isa 53:11),

24

וַיְחֻנֶּ֗נּוּ SDBH to be gracious וַיֹּ֗אמֶר SDBH to him and say פְּ֭דָעֵהוּ SDBH Spare him מֵרֶ֥דֶת SDBH from going down שָׁ֗חַת SDBH to the Pit מָצָ֥אתִי SDBH I have found כֹֽפֶר׃ SDBH his ransom

Then he is gracious unto him, and saith, Deliver him from going down to the shachat (pit); I have found a kofer (ransom) [Mk 10:45].

25

רֻֽטֲפַ֣שׁ SDBH is refreshed בְּשָׂר֣וֹ SDBH then his flesh מִנֹּ֑עַר SDBH like a child’s יָ֝שׁ֗וּב SDBH he returns לִימֵ֥י SDBH to the days עֲלוּמָֽיו׃ SDBH of his youth

His basar shall be restored like a na'ar; he shall return to the yamim of his youthful vigor;

26

יֶעְתַּ֤ר SDBH He prays אֶל־ to אֱל֨וֹהַּ׀ SDBH G-d וַיִּרְצֵ֗הוּ SDBH and finds favor וַיַּ֣רְא SDBH he sees פָּ֭נָיו [G-d’s] face בִּתְרוּעָ֑ה SDBH and shouts for joy וַיָּ֥שֶׁב SDBH and G-d restores לֶ֝אֱנ֗וֹשׁ SDBH to that man צִדְקָתֽוֹ׃ SDBH His righteousness

He shall pray unto Eloah, and be accepted by Him, and he shall see His face with teruah (shouts of joy); thus He recompenseth unto enosh his tzedek.

27

יָשֹׁ֤ר׀ SDBH Then he sings עַל־ before אֲנָשִׁ֗ים SDBH men וַיֹּ֗אמֶר SDBH with these words חָ֭טָאתִי SDBH I have sinned וְיָשָׁ֥ר SDBH what was right הֶעֱוֵ֗יתִי SDBH and perverted וְלֹא־ SDBH yet I did not שָׁ֥וָה SDBH get what I deserved לִֽי׃

He looketh upon anashim, and if any say, I have sinned, and perverted that which was yashar, and it was not recompensed to me,

28

פָּדָ֣ה SDBH He redeemed נַפְשִׁי SDBH my soul מֵעֲבֹ֣ר SDBH from going down בַּשָּׁ֑חַת SDBH to the Pit וְחַיָּתִי SDBH and I will live בָּא֥וֹר SDBH the light תִּרְאֶֽה׃ SDBH to see

He will redeem his nefesh from going into the shachat, and his life shall see the ohr.

29

הֶן־ Behold כָּל־ all אֵ֭לֶּה SDBH these things יִפְעַל־ SDBH does אֵ֑ל SDBH G-d פַּעֲמַ֖יִם SDBH two שָׁל֣וֹשׁ SDBH or even three times עִם־ to גָּֽבֶר׃ SDBH a man

Lo, all these things worketh El, twice, shalosh with gever (man)

30

לְהָשִׁ֣יב SDBH to bring back נַ֭פְשׁוֹ SDBH his soul מִנִּי־ from שָׁ֑חַת SDBH the Pit לֵ֝א֗וֹר SDBH that he may be enlightened בְּא֣וֹר SDBH with the light הַֽחַיִּים׃ SDBH of life

To bring back his nefesh from the shachat (pit), to be enlightened with the Ohr HaChayyim (light of the living).

31

הַקְשֵׁ֖ב SDBH Pay attention אִיּ֥וֹב SDBH Job שְֽׁמַֽע־ SDBH and listen לִ֑י to me הַ֝חֲרֵ֗שׁ SDBH be silent וְאָנֹכִ֥י SDBH and I אֲדַבֵּֽר׃ SDBH will speak

Mark well, O Iyov, pay heed unto me; hold thy peace, and I will speak.

32

אִם־ SDBH But if יֵשׁ־ you have מִלִּ֥ין SDBH something to say הֲשִׁיבֵ֑נִי SDBH answer me דַּ֝בֵּ֗ר SDBH speak up כִּֽי־ for חָפַ֥צְתִּי SDBH I would like צַדְּקֶֽךָּ׃ SDBH to vindicate you

If thou hast anything to say, answer me; dabbir (speak), for I desire to justify thee.

33

אִם־ SDBH But if אַ֭יִן SDBH not אַתָּ֥ה SDBH . . . שְֽׁמַֽע־ SDBH then listen לִ֑י to me הַ֝חֲרֵ֗שׁ SDBH be quiet וַאֲאַלֶּפְךָ֥ SDBH and I will teach חָכְמָֽה׃ס SDBH you wisdom

If not, pay heed unto me; hold thy peace, and I shall teach thee chochmah.
