Iyov 32 — Hebrew–OJB Interlinear

וַֽיִּשְׁבְּת֡וּ SDBH stopped שְׁלֹ֤שֶׁת SDBH three הָאֲנָשִׁ֣ים SDBH men הָ֭אֵלֶּה SDBH So these מֵעֲנ֣וֹת SDBH answering אֶת־ SDBH - אִיּ֑וֹב SDBH Job כִּ֤י because ה֖וּא SDBH he צַדִּ֣יק SDBH was righteous בְּעֵינָֽיו׃פ SDBH in his own eyes

So these shloshet ha'anashim ceased to answer Iyov, because he was tzaddik in his eyes.

וַיִּ֤חַר SDBH This kindled אַ֨ף׀ SDBH the anger אֱלִיה֣וּא SDBH of Elihu בֶן־ SDBH son בַּרַכְאֵ֣ל SDBH of Barachel הַבּוּזִי֮ SDBH the Buzite מִמִּשְׁפַּ֪חַ֫ת SDBH of the family רָ֥ם SDBH of Ram בְּ֭אִיּוֹב SDBH against Job חָרָ֣ה SDBH He burned אַפּ֑וֹ SDBH with anger עַֽל־ for צַדְּק֥וֹ SDBH justifying נַ֝פְשׁ֗וֹ SDBH himself מֵאֱלֹהִֽים׃ SDBH rather than G-d

Then was kindled the wrath of Elihu ben Barachel the Buzi, of the mishpochah Ram; against Iyov was his wrath kindled, because Iyov justified his nefesh rather than Elohim.

וּבִשְׁלֹ֣שֶׁת SDBH against [Job’s] three רֵעָיו֮ SDBH friends חָרָ֪ה SDBH and he burned אַ֫פּ֥וֹ SDBH with anger עַ֤ל because אֲשֶׁ֣ר SDBH - לֹא־ SDBH they had failed מָצְא֣וּ SDBH . . . מַעֲנֶ֑ה SDBH to refute [Job] וַ֝יַּרְשִׁ֗יעוּ SDBH and yet had condemned אֶת־ SDBH - אִיּֽוֹב׃ SDBH him

Also against his three friends was his wrath kindled, because they had found no ma'aneh (refutation, answer), and yet had condemned Iyov.

וֶֽאֱלִיה֗וּ SDBH Now Elihu חִכָּ֣ה SDBH had waited אֶת־ SDBH - אִ֭יּוֹב SDBH to Job בִּדְבָרִ֑ים SDBH to speak כִּ֤י because זְֽקֵנִים־ SDBH were older הֵ֖מָּה SDBH the others מִמֶּ֣נּוּ than he לְיָמִֽים׃ SDBH -

Now Elihu had waited till Iyov had spoken, because they were elder than he.

וַיַּ֤רְא SDBH saw אֱלִיה֗וּא SDBH But when he כִּ֘י that אֵ֤ין SDBH had no מַעֲנֶ֗ה SDBH further reply בְּ֭פִי SDBH . . . שְׁלֹ֥שֶׁת SDBH the three הָאֲנָשִׁ֗ים SDBH men וַיִּ֥חַר SDBH was kindled אַפּֽוֹ׃פ SDBH his anger

When Elihu saw that there was no ma'aneh in the mouth of these shloshet ha'anashim, then his wrath was kindled.

וַיַּ֤עַן׀ SDBH declared אֱלִיה֖וּא SDBH So Elihu בֶן־ SDBH son בַּֽרַכְאֵ֥ל SDBH of Barachel הַבּוּזִ֗י SDBH the Buzite וַיֹּ֫אמַ֥ר SDBH . . . צָ֘עִ֤יר SDBH am young אֲנִ֣י SDBH I לְ֭יָמִים SDBH in years וְאַתֶּ֣ם SDBH while you יְשִׁישִׁ֑ים SDBH are old עַל־ that is why כֵּ֖ן SDBH . . . זָחַ֥לְתִּי SDBH I was timid וָֽאִירָ֓א׀ SDBH and afraid מֵחַוֺּ֖ת SDBH to tell you דֵּעִ֣י SDBH what I know אֶתְכֶֽם׃ SDBH -

And Elihu ben Barachel the Buzi answered and said, I am young, and ye are very old; wherefore I was afraid, and dared not tell you of what I have da'as.

אָ֭מַרְתִּי SDBH I thought יָמִ֣ים SDBH that age יְדַבֵּ֑רוּ SDBH should speak וְרֹ֥ב and many שָׁ֝נִ֗ים SDBH years יֹדִ֥יעוּ SDBH should teach חָכְמָֽה׃ SDBH wisdom

I said, Yamim should speak, and multitude of shanim should teach chochmah.

אָ֭כֵן SDBH But רֽוּחַ־ SDBH a spirit הִ֣יא SDBH [there is] בֶאֱנ֑וֹשׁ SDBH in a man וְנִשְׁמַ֖ת SDBH the breath שַׁדַּ֣י SDBH of the Almighty תְּבִינֵֽם׃ SDBH that gives him understanding

But there is a ruach in enosh, and the neshamat Shaddai giveth them binah.

לֹֽא־ SDBH It is not only רַבִּ֥ים SDBH the old יֶחְכָּ֑מוּ SDBH who are wise וּ֝זְקֵנִ֗ים SDBH or the elderly יָבִ֥ינוּ SDBH who understand מִשְׁפָּֽט׃ SDBH justice

Great men are not always wise, neither do the zekenim understand mishpat.

לָכֵ֣ן SDBH Therefore אָ֭מַרְתִּי SDBH I say שִׁמְעָה־ SDBH Listen לִּ֑י to me אֲחַוֶּ֖ה SDBH will declare דֵּעִ֣י SDBH what I know אַף־ SDBH too אָֽנִי׃ SDBH I

Therefore I said, Pay heed to me; I also will tell of what I have da'as.

הֵ֤ן Indeed הוֹחַ֨לְתִּי SDBH I waited לְֽדִבְרֵיכֶ֗ם SDBH while you spoke אָ֭זִין SDBH I listened עַד־ SDBH to תְּב֥וּנֹֽתֵיכֶ֑ם SDBH your reasoning עַֽד־ SDBH as תַּחְקְר֥וּן SDBH you searched מִלִּֽין׃ SDBH for words

Hen (behold), I waited for your dvarim; I gave ear to your reasons, whilst ye searched out what to say.

וְעָֽדֵיכֶ֗ם SDBH . . . אֶתְבּ֫וֹנָ֥ן SDBH I paid you full attention וְהִנֵּ֤ה . . . אֵ֣ין SDBH But no one לְאִיּ֣וֹב SDBH proved Job מוֹכִ֑יחַ SDBH wrong עוֹנֶ֖ה SDBH you rebutted אֲמָרָ֣יו SDBH his arguments מִכֶּֽם׃ not one of

Yea, I attended unto you, and, hinei, there was none of you that proved Iyov wrong, or that answered his words.

פֶּן־ So do not תֹּ֣֭אמְרוּ SDBH claim מָצָ֣אנוּ SDBH We have found חָכְמָ֑ה SDBH wisdom אֵ֖ל SDBH let G-d יִדְּפֶ֣נּוּ SDBH refute him לֹא־ SDBH not אִֽישׁ׃ SDBH man

Yet do not say, We have found chochmah; El may vanquish him, lo ish (not man).

14

וְלֹא־ SDBH But Job has not עָרַ֣ךְ SDBH directed אֵלַ֣י against me מִלִּ֑ין SDBH [his] words וּ֝בְאִמְרֵיכֶ֗ם SDBH with your arguments לֹ֣א SDBH and I will not אֲשִׁיבֶֽנּוּ׃ SDBH answer him

Now he hath not directed his millin (words) against me; neither will I answer him with your speeches.

חַ֭תּוּ SDBH [Job’s friends] are dismayed לֹא־ SDBH with no עָ֣נוּ SDBH to say ע֑וֹד more הֶעְתִּ֖יקוּ SDBH have escaped מֵהֶ֣ם them מִלִּֽים׃ SDBH words

They were amazed; they answered no od (more); they left off speaking.

16

וְ֭הוֹחַלְתִּי SDBH Must I wait כִּי־ now that לֹ֣א SDBH they are silent יְדַבֵּ֑רוּ SDBH . . . כִּ֥י now that עָ֝מְד֗וּ SDBH they stand לֹא־ SDBH and no עָ֥נוּ SDBH reply עֽוֹד׃ longer

When I had waited, (for they spoke not, but stood still, and answered no od [more]);

17

אַעֲנֶ֣ה SDBH will answer אַף־ SDBH too אֲנִ֣י SDBH I חֶלְקִ֑י SDBH . . . אֲחַוֶּ֖ה SDBH will declare דֵעִ֣י SDBH what I know אַף־ SDBH yes אָֽנִי׃ SDBH I

I said, I will answer also my chelek (portion); I also will show of mine da'as.

18

כִּ֭י For מָלֵ֣תִי SDBH I am full of מִלִּ֑ים SDBH words הֱ֝צִיקַ֗תְנִי SDBH compels me ר֣וּחַ SDBH and my spirit בִּטְנִֽי׃ SDBH within me

For I am full of millim (words), the ruach within me compelleth me.

19

הִנֵּֽה־ Behold בִטְנִ֗י SDBH my belly כְּיַ֥יִן SDBH wine לֹא־ SDBH vvv יִפָּתֵ֑חַ SDBH is like unvented כְּאֹב֥וֹת SDBH wineskin חֲ֝דָשִׁ֗ים SDBH like a new יִבָּקֵֽעַ׃ SDBH it is about to burst

Hinei, my beten is like yayin which hath no vent; it is ready to burst like ovot chadashim (new wineskins).

20

אֲדַבְּרָ֥ה SDBH I must speak וְיִֽרְוַֽח־ SDBH and find relief לִ֑י אֶפְתַּ֖ח SDBH I must open שְׂפָתַ֣י SDBH my lips וְאֶֽעֱנֶֽה׃ SDBH and respond

I will speak that I may be relieved; I will open my sfatayim and answer.

21

אַל־ to no נָ֭א . . . אֶשָּׂ֣א SDBH I will be partial פְנֵי־ . . . אִ֑ישׁ SDBH one וְאֶל־ . . . אָ֝דָ֗ם SDBH any man לֹ֣א SDBH nor will אֲכַנֶּֽה׃ SDBH I flatter

Let me not, now, show any man partiality, neither let me flatter adam.

22

כִּ֤י For לֹ֣א SDBH I do not יָדַ֣עְתִּי SDBH know how אֲכַנֶּ֑ה SDBH to flatter כִּ֝מְעַ֗ט SDBH in an instant יִשָּׂאֵ֥נִי SDBH would remove me עֹשֵֽׂנִי׃ SDBH or my Maker

For I am not skilled in flattery; in so doing Oseini (my Maker) would soon take me away.
