Then Eliphaz of Teman answered and said,
Can a gever be profitable unto El, as he that has seichel may be profitable unto himself?

הַחֵ֣פֶץ SDBH Does it delight לְ֭שַׁדַּי SDBH the Almighty כִּ֣י that תִצְדָּ֑ק SDBH you are righteous וְאִם־ SDBH . . . בֶּ֝֗צַע SDBH Does He profit כִּֽי־ if תַתֵּ֥ם SDBH are blameless דְּרָכֶֽיךָ׃ SDBH your ways
Is it any pleasure to Shaddai, that thou art tzaddik? Or is it gain to Him, that thou makest thy ways blameless?

הֲֽ֭מִיִּרְאָ֣תְךָ SDBH Is it for your reverence יֹכִיחֶ֑ךָ SDBH that He rebukes you יָב֥וֹא SDBH and enters עִ֝מְּךָ֗ against you בַּמִּשְׁפָּֽט׃ SDBH into judgment
Is it for thy yireh [Elohim] that He reproves thee? Will He enter with thee into mishpat?
Is not thy rah great? And thine avonot infinite?

כִּֽי־ For תַחְבֹּ֣ל SDBH demanded security אַחֶ֣יךָ SDBH from your brothers חִנָּ֑ם SDBH {you} needlessly וּבִגְדֵ֖י SDBH of their clothing עֲרוּמִּ֣ים SDBH the naked תַּפְשִֽׁיט׃ SDBH and deprived
For thou hast exacted a pledge from thy brother for naught, and stripped the arummim (naked ones) of their clothing.
Thou hast not given mayim to the weary to drink, and thou hast withheld lechem from the hungry.

וְאִ֣ישׁ SDBH man זְ֭רוֹעַ SDBH belonged to a mighty ל֣וֹ הָאָ֑רֶץ SDBH while the land וּנְשׂ֥וּא SDBH and a man פָ֝נִ֗ים of honor יֵ֣שֶׁב SDBH lived בָּֽהּ׃ on it
But as for the ish zeroa (mighty man), his is ha'aretz; and the honorable man dwelt therein.
9
Thou hast sent almanot away empty, and the arms of the yetomim have been broken.
Therefore pachim (snares) are around thee, and sudden pachad troubleth thee;
Or choshech, that thou canst not see; and overflow of mayim cover thee.
Is not Eloah in the height of Shomayim? And hinei the rosh kokhavim, how high they are!
And thou sayest, How doth El know? Can He judge through the thick cloud?

עָבִ֣ים SDBH Thick clouds סֵֽתֶר־ SDBH veil ל֭וֹ Him וְלֹ֣א SDBH so He does not יִרְאֶ֑ה SDBH see us וְח֥וּג SDBH the vault שָׁ֝מַ֗יִם SDBH of heaven יִתְהַלָּֽךְ׃ SDBH as He traverses
Thick clouds veil Him, that He seeth not; and He walketh in the vault of Shomayim.
Wilt thou note the orach olam which wicked men have trodden?

אֲשֶֽׁר־ SDBH They קֻמְּט֥וּ SDBH were snatched away וְלֹא־ SDBH before עֵ֑ת SDBH their time נָ֝הָ֗ר SDBH by a flood יוּצַ֥ק SDBH were swept away יְסוֹדָֽם׃ SDBH and their foundations
Who were cut down before their time, whose yesod was overflown with a flood;
17
הָאֹמְרִ֣ים SDBH They said לָ֭אֵל SDBH to G-d ס֣וּר SDBH Depart מִמֶּ֑נּוּ from us וּמַה־ SDBH What יִּפְעַ֖ל SDBH do שַׁדַּ֣י SDBH can the Almighty לָֽמוֹ׃ to us
Who said unto El, Depart from us; and what can Shaddai do to them?
18
וְה֤וּא SDBH But it was He מִלֵּ֣א SDBH who filled בָתֵּיהֶ֣ם SDBH their houses ט֑וֹב SDBH with good things וַעֲצַ֥ת SDBH from the counsel רְ֝שָׁעִ֗ים SDBH of the wicked רָ֣חֲקָה SDBH so I stay far מֶֽנִּי׃ . . .
Yet He filled their batim (houses) with tov; but the etza (counsel) of the resha'im is far from me.
19
יִרְא֣וּ SDBH see [it] צַדִּיקִ֣ים SDBH The righteous וְיִשְׂמָ֑חוּ SDBH and are glad וְ֝נָקִ֗י SDBH the innocent יִלְעַג־ SDBH mock לָֽמוֹ׃ them
The tzaddikim see it, and are glad, and the naki (innocent) laugh them to scorn.
20
אִם־ SDBH Surely לֹ֣א SDBH . . . נִכְחַ֣ד SDBH are destroyed קִימָ֑נוּ SDBH our foes וְ֝יִתְרָ֗ם SDBH their excess אָ֣כְלָה SDBH has consumed אֵֽשׁ׃ SDBH and fire
Verily our foe is destroyed, and the abundance of them the eish consumeth.
21
הַסְכֶּן־ SDBH Reconcile נָ֣א now עִמּ֑וֹ with Him וּשְׁלם SDBH and be at peace בָּ֝הֶ֗ם thereby תְּֽבוֹאַתְךָ֥ SDBH will come to you טוֹבָֽה׃ SDBH good
Acquaint now thyself with Him, and so hast thou shalom; thereby tovah shall come unto thee.
22
קַח־ SDBH Receive נָ֣א . . . מִפִּ֣יו SDBH from His mouth תּוֹרָ֑ה SDBH instruction וְשִׂ֥ים SDBH and lay up אֲ֝מָרָ֗יו SDBH His words בִּלְבָבֶֽךָ׃ SDBH in your heart
Receive, now, torah from His mouth, and lay up His words in thine lev.
23
If thou return to Shaddai, thou shalt be restored; if thou shalt put away iniquity far from thy ohalim;
24
וְשִׁית־ SDBH and consign עַל־ to עָפָ֥ר SDBH the dust בָּ֑צֶר SDBH your gold וּבְצ֖וּר SDBH to the stones נְחָלִ֣ים SDBH of the ravines אוֹפִֽיר׃ SDBH and the gold of Ophir
Then shalt thou lay up gold as aphar, and that of Ophir as the tzur of the brooks.
25
וְהָיָ֣ה will be שַׁדַּ֣י SDBH then the Almighty בְּצָרֶ֑יךָ SDBH your gold וְכֶ֖סֶף SDBH silver תּוֹעָפ֣וֹת SDBH and the finest לָֽךְ׃ for you
Yea, Shaddai shall be thy gold, and thy precious kesef.
For then shalt thou have thy delight in Shaddai, and shalt lift up thy face unto Eloah.
27
Thou shalt make thy prayer unto Him, and He shall hear thee, and thou shalt fulfill thy nederim.
28
וְֽתִגְזַר־ SDBH Your decisions א֭וֹמֶר SDBH . . . וְיָ֣קָם SDBH will be carried out לָ֑ךְ וְעַל־ on דְּ֝רָכֶ֗יךָ SDBH your ways נָ֣גַֽהּ SDBH will shine אֽוֹר׃ SDBH and light
Thou shalt also decide a matter, and it shall be established unto thee, and the ohr shall shine upon thy ways.
29
When they are cast down, thou shalt say, Arise, and He shall save the one with low eynayim (i.e., humility).
30
יְֽמַלֵּ֥ט SDBH He will deliver [even] אִֽי־ SDBH [one who is] not נָקִ֑י SDBH innocent וְ֝נִמְלַ֗ט SDBH rescuing him בְּבֹ֣ר SDBH through the cleanness כַּפֶּֽיךָ׃פ SDBH of your hands
He shall deliver even the guilty; and he is delivered by the bar (cleanness) of thine hands.
