רוּחִ֣י SDBH My spirit חֻ֭בָּלָה SDBH is broken יָמַ֥י SDBH my days נִזְעָ֗כוּ SDBH are extinguished קְבָרִ֥ים SDBH the grave לִֽי׃ awaits me
My ruach is broken, my yamim are extinct, the kevarim are ready for me.
Does not hatulim (mockery) surround me? And doth not mine eye continue in their provocation?

שִֽׂימָה־ SDBH Give [me] נָּ֭א I pray עָרְבֵ֣נִי SDBH the pledge עִמָּ֑ךְ You [demand] מִֽי SDBH Who else ה֝֗וּא SDBH . . . לְיָדִ֥י SDBH will be my guarantor יִתָּקֵֽעַ׃ SDBH . . .
Lay down an eravon (pledge) with Thee; who is he that will put up security for me?

כִּֽי־ - לִ֭בָּם SDBH their minds צָפַ֣נְתָּ SDBH You have closed מִּשָּׂ֑כֶל SDBH to understanding עַל־ therefore כֵּ֝֗ן SDBH . . . לֹ֣א SDBH You will not תְרֹמֵֽם׃ SDBH exalt them
For Thou hast hid their lev from seichel; therefore shalt Thou not exalt them.

לְ֭חֵלֶק SDBH for a price יַגִּ֣יד SDBH If a man denounces רֵעִ֑ים SDBH his friends וְעֵינֵ֖י SDBH the eyes בָנָ֣יו SDBH of his children תִּכְלֶֽנָה׃ SDBH will fail
He that informs on re'im for chelek, even the eyes of his banim shall fail.
He hath made me also a mashal (byword) of the peoples; and I am one in whose face they spit.
Mine eye also is dim by reason of ka'as, and all my members are like a tzel (shadow).

יָשֹׁ֣מּוּ SDBH are appalled יְשָׁרִ֣ים SDBH The upright עַל־ at זֹ֑את SDBH this וְ֝נָקִ֗י SDBH and the innocent עַל־ against חָנֵ֥ף SDBH the g-dless יִתְעֹרָֽר׃ SDBH are stirred
Yesharim shall be appalled at this and the naki (pure, innocent) shall stir up himself against the chanef (profane, irreligious).

וְיֹאחֵ֣ז SDBH holds צַדִּ֣יק SDBH Yet a righteous one דַּרְכּ֑וֹ SDBH to his way וּֽטֳהָר־ SDBH . . . יָ֝דַ֗יִם SDBH and the one with clean hands יֹסִ֥יף SDBH grows אֹֽמֶץ׃ SDBH stronger
The tzaddik also shall hold to his derech, and he whose yadayim are tahor shall grow stronger and stronger.
10
וְֽאוּלָ֗ם SDBH But כֻּלָּ֣ם all of you תָּ֭שֻׁבוּ SDBH and try again וּבֹ֣אוּ SDBH come back נָ֑א . . . וְלֹֽא־ SDBH For I will not אֶמְצָ֖א SDBH find בָכֶ֣ם among you חָכָֽם׃ SDBH a wise man
But as for all you, do ye return, and come back now; for I cannot find one chacham among you.

יָמַ֣י SDBH My days עָ֭בְרוּ SDBH have passed זִמֹּתַ֣י SDBH my plans נִתְּק֑וּ SDBH are broken off מ֖וֹרָשֵׁ֣י SDBH even the desires לְבָבִֽי׃ SDBH of my heart
My yamim are past, my plans are broken, even the morashot (possessions, desires) of my lev.

לַ֭יְלָה SDBH night לְי֣וֹם SDBH into day יָשִׂ֑ימוּ SDBH They have turned א֝֗וֹר SDBH [making] light קָר֥וֹב SDBH seem near מִפְּנֵי־ in the face חֹֽשֶׁךְ׃ SDBH of darkness
They change the lailah into yom; the ohr is near to choshech, say they.
If I wait, Sheol is mine bais; I have made my bed in the choshech.

I have said to Shachat, thou art avi; to the worm, thou art immi, and achoti.
And where is now my tikveh? As for my tikveh, who regards it?

בַּדֵּ֣י SDBH to the gates שְׁאֹ֣ל SDBH of Sheol תֵּרַ֑דְנָה SDBH Will it go down אִם־ SDBH - יַ֖חַד SDBH together עַל־ into עָפָ֣ר SDBH the dust נָֽחַת׃ס SDBH Will we go down
Will it go down to the gates of Sheol? Shall we go down together into the dust?
