Yeshayah 34 — Hebrew–OJB Interlinear

1

קִרְב֤וּ SDBH Come near גוֹיִם֙ SDBH O nations לִשְׁמֹ֔עַ SDBH to listen וּלְאֻמִּ֖ים SDBH O peoples הַקְשִׁ֑יבוּ SDBH pay attention תִּשְׁמַ֤ע SDBH hear הָאָ֙רֶץ֙ SDBH Let the earth וּמְלֹאָ֔הּ SDBH and all that fills it תֵּבֵ֖ל SDBH the world וְכָל־ and all צֶאֱצָאֶֽיהָ׃ SDBH that springs from it

Come near, ye Goyim, to hear; and pay heed, ye peoples; let ha'aretz hear, and all that is therein; the tevel (world), and all things that come forth of it.

כִּ֣י - קֶ֤צֶף SDBH is angry לַֽיהוָה֙ SDBH Hashem/Adonoi עַל־ with כָּל־ all הַגּוֹיִ֔ם SDBH the nations וְחֵמָ֖ה SDBH and furious עַל־ . . . כָּל־ . . . צְבָאָ֑ם SDBH with all their armies הֶחֱרִימָ֖ם SDBH He will devote them to destruction נְתָנָ֥ם He will give them over לַטָּֽבַח׃ SDBH to slaughter

For the ketzef Hashem (wrath of Hashem) is upon kol HaGoyim, and His chemah (fury, wrath) upon all their tz'va; He hath utterly destroyed them, He hath delivered them to the tevach (slaughter).

וְחַלְלֵיהֶ֣ם SDBH Their slain יֻשְׁלָ֔כוּ SDBH will be left unburied וּפִגְרֵיהֶ֖ם SDBH of their corpses יַעֲלֶ֣ה SDBH will rise בָאְשָׁ֑ם SDBH and the stench וְנָמַ֥סּוּ SDBH will flow הָרִ֖ים SDBH the mountains מִדָּמָֽם׃ SDBH with their blood

Their slain also shall be cast out, and their stench shall go up out of their pegarim (corpses), and the harim shall be drenched with their dahm.

וְנָמַ֙קּוּ֙ SDBH will be dissolved כָּל־ All צְבָ֣א SDBH the stars הַשָּׁמַ֔יִם SDBH of heaven וְנָגֹ֥לּוּ SDBH will be rolled up כַסֵּ֖פֶר SDBH like a scroll הַשָּׁמָ֑יִם SDBH The skies וְכָל־ . . . צְבָאָ֣ם SDBH and all their stars יִבּ֔וֹל SDBH will fall כִּנְבֹ֤ל SDBH like withered עָלֶה֙ SDBH leaves מִגֶּ֔פֶן SDBH from the vine וּכְנֹבֶ֖לֶת SDBH like foliage מִתְּאֵנָֽה׃ SDBH from the fig tree

And kol Tz'va HaShomayim (all the host of heaven) shall be dissolved, and the Shomayim shall be rolled up like a sefer; and all their tz'va shall fall, like the aleh (leaf) falleth from the gefen, like that falling from the te'enah (fig tree).

כִּֽי־ When רִוְּתָ֥ה SDBH has drunk its fill בַשָּׁמַ֖יִם SDBH in the heavens חַרְבִּ֑י SDBH My sword הִנֵּה֙ then עַל־ upon אֱד֣וֹם SDBH Edom תֵּרֵ֔ד SDBH it will come down וְעַל־ upon עַ֥ם SDBH the people חֶרְמִ֖י SDBH I have devoted לְמִשְׁפָּֽט׃ SDBH to destruction

For My cherev shall be satiated in Shomayim; hinei, it shall come down upon Edom, and shall descend on the Am (people) of My Cherem (ban of destruction) in mishpat.

חֶ֣רֶב SDBH The sword לַיהוָ֞ה SDBH Hashem/Adonoi מָלְאָ֥ה SDBH is bathed דָם֙ SDBH in blood הֻדַּ֣שְׁנָה SDBH It drips מֵחֵ֔לֶב SDBH with fat מִדַּ֤ם SDBH with the blood כָּרִים֙ SDBH of lambs וְעַתּוּדִ֔ים SDBH and goats מֵחֵ֖לֶב SDBH with the fat כִּלְי֣וֹת SDBH of the kidneys אֵילִ֑ים SDBH of rams כִּ֣י For זֶ֤בַח SDBH has a sacrifice לַֽיהוָה֙ SDBH Hashem/Adonoi בְּבָצְרָ֔ה SDBH in Bozrah וְטֶ֥בַח SDBH slaughter גָּד֖וֹל SDBH a great בְּאֶ֥רֶץ SDBH in the land אֱדֽוֹם׃ SDBH of Edom

The Cherev Hashem (Sword of Hashem) is filled with dahm, it is gorged with chelev, and with the dahm of lambs and goats, with the chelev of the kidneys of rams; for Hashem hath a zevach in Botzrah, and a tevach gadol in Eretz Edom.

וְיָרְד֤וּ SDBH will fall רְאֵמִים֙ SDBH And the wild oxen עִמָּ֔ם with them וּפָרִ֖ים SDBH the young bulls עִם־ with אַבִּירִ֑ים SDBH the strong [ones] וְרִוְּתָ֤ה SDBH will be drenched אַרְצָם֙ SDBH Their land מִדָּ֔ם SDBH with blood וַעֲפָרָ֖ם SDBH and their soil מֵחֵ֥לֶב SDBH with fat יְדֻשָּֽׁן׃ SDBH will be soaked

And the re'emim (wild oxen) shall fall with them, and the bull calves with the bulls; and their land shall be soaked with dahm, and their aphar (dust) enriched with chelev.

כִּ֛י For י֥וֹם SDBH has a day נָקָ֖ם SDBH of vengeance לַֽיהוָ֑ה SDBH Hashem/Adonoi שְׁנַ֥ת SDBH a year שִׁלּוּמִ֖ים SDBH of recompense לְרִ֥יב SDBH for the cause צִיּֽוֹן׃ SDBH of Zion

For it is the Yom Nakam L'Hashem (Day of Vengeance unto Hashem), and the Shnat Shillumim (Year of Retributions) for the cause of Tziyon.

וְנֶהֶפְכ֤וּ SDBH will be turned נְחָלֶ֙יהָ֙ SDBH [Edom’s] streams לְזֶ֔פֶת SDBH to tar וַעֲפָרָ֖הּ SDBH and her soil לְגָפְרִ֑ית SDBH to sulfur וְהָיְתָ֣ה will become אַרְצָ֔הּ SDBH her land לְזֶ֖פֶת SDBH pitch בֹּעֵרָֽה׃ SDBH a blazing

And the streams thereof [I.E., OF EDOM] shall be turned into zefet (pitch, tar), and the aphar (dust) thereof into gofrit (burning sulfur), and the land thereof shall become burning zefet (pitch, tar).

לַ֤יְלָה SDBH or night וְיוֹמָם֙ SDBH day לֹ֣א SDBH It will not תִכְבֶּ֔ה SDBH be quenched לְעוֹלָ֖ם SDBH forever יַעֲלֶ֣ה SDBH will ascend עֲשָׁנָ֑הּ SDBH Its smoke מִדּ֤וֹר SDBH From generation לָדוֹר֙ SDBH to generation תֶּחֱרָ֔ב SDBH it will lie desolate לְנֵ֣צַח SDBH will ever again נְצָחִ֔ים SDBH . . . אֵ֥ין SDBH no one עֹבֵ֖ר SDBH pass בָּֽהּ׃ through it

It shall not be quenched lailah v'yomam; the ashan (smoke) thereof shall go up l'olam (forever); from dor to dor it shall lie desolate; none shall pass through it l'netzach netzachim.

וִירֵשׁ֙וּהָ֙ SDBH will possess it קָאַ֣ת SDBH The desert owl וְקִפּ֔וֹד SDBH and screech owl וְיַנְשׁ֥וֹף SDBH and the great owl וְעֹרֵ֖ב SDBH and raven יִשְׁכְּנוּ־ SDBH will dwell בָ֑הּ in it וְנָטָ֥ה SDBH The LORD will stretch out עָלֶ֛יהָ over [Edom] קַֽו־ SDBH a measuring line תֹ֖הוּ SDBH of chaos וְאַבְנֵי־ SDBH and a plumb line בֹֽהוּ׃ SDBH of destruction

But the desert owl and the screech owl shall possess it; even the yanshuf (great owl) and the orev (raven) shall dwell in it; and He shall stretch out upon it the measuring line of tohu, and the plumbline of vohu [SEE GENESIS 1:2].

חֹרֶ֥יהָ SDBH nobles וְאֵֽין־ SDBH No שָׁ֖ם SDBH . . . מְלוּכָ֣ה SDBH a king יִקְרָ֑אוּ SDBH will be left to proclaim וְכָל־ and all שָׂרֶ֖יהָ SDBH her princes יִ֥הְיוּ will come אָֽפֶס׃ SDBH to nothing

For the nobles thereof there shall be nothing to call a maluchah (kingdom) and all her sarim shall come to naught.

13

וְעָלְתָ֤ה SDBH will be overgrown אַרְמְנֹתֶ֙יהָ֙ SDBH Her towers סִירִ֔ים SDBH with thorns קִמּ֥וֹשׂ SDBH with thistles וָח֖וֹחַ SDBH and briers בְּמִבְצָרֶ֑יהָ SDBH her fortresses וְהָיְתָה֙ She will become נְוֵ֣ה SDBH a haunt תַנִּ֔ים SDBH for jackals חָצִ֖יר SDBH an abode לִבְנ֥וֹת SDBH vvv יַעֲנָֽה׃ SDBH for ostriches

And sirim (thorns) shall come up in her citadels, nettles and brambles in the strongholds thereof; and it shall become the habitation of jackals, and the abode for banot ya'anah (ostriches).

וּפָגְשׁ֤וּ SDBH will meet צִיִּים֙ SDBH The desert creatures אֶת־ SDBH - אִיִּ֔ים SDBH with hyenas וְשָׂעִ֖יר SDBH and one wild goat עַל־ to רֵעֵ֣הוּ SDBH another יִקְרָ֑א SDBH will call אַךְ־ SDBH vvv שָׁם֙ SDBH There הִרְגִּ֣יעָה SDBH will settle לִּילִ֔ית SDBH the night creature וּמָצְאָ֥ה SDBH and find לָ֖הּ her מָנֽוֹחַ׃ SDBH place of repose

The tziyyim (martens) shall also encounter iyyim (wild cats), and a sa'ir (wild goat) calls to its companion, and lilit (night creature) dwells there and finds for itself a mano'ach (place of rest).

שָׁ֣מָּה SDBH There קִנְּנָ֤ה SDBH make her nest קִפּוֹז֙ SDBH the owl will וַתְּמַלֵּ֔ט SDBH she will lay וּבָקְעָ֖ה SDBH and hatch her eggs וְדָגְרָ֣ה SDBH and gather בְצִלָּ֑הּ SDBH her brood under her shadow אַךְ־ SDBH Even שָׁ֛ם SDBH there נִקְבְּצ֥וּ SDBH will gather דַיּ֖וֹת SDBH the birds of prey אִשָּׁ֥ה SDBH each רְעוּתָֽהּ׃ SDBH with its mate

There shall the kipoz (bittern) nest, and lay eggs, and hatch and care for young under her tzel; there shall the dayyot (kites, vultures) also be gathered, every one with its mate.

דִּרְשׁ֨וּ SDBH Search מֵֽעַל־ . . . סֵ֤פֶר SDBH the scroll יְהוָה֙ SDBH Hashem/Adonoi וּֽקְרָ֔אוּ SDBH and read אַחַ֤ת SDBH one מֵהֵ֙נָּה֙ SDBH of these לֹ֣א SDBH Not נֶעְדָּ֔רָה SDBH will go missing אִשָּׁ֥ה SDBH not one רְעוּתָ֖הּ SDBH her mate לֹ֣א SDBH . . . פָקָ֑דוּ SDBH will lack כִּֽי־ because פִי֙ SDBH it by His mouth ה֣וּא SDBH He צִוָּ֔ה SDBH has ordered וְרוּח֖וֹ SDBH by His Spirit ה֥וּא SDBH and He קִבְּצָֽן׃ SDBH will gather them

Search ye out in the Sefer Hashem, and read; no one of these creatures shall fail, none shall lack her mate; for My mouth hath commanded, and His Ruach hath gathered them.

17

וְהֽוּא־ SDBH He הִפִּ֤יל SDBH has allotted לָהֶן֙ their גּוֹרָ֔ל SDBH portion וְיָד֛וֹ SDBH His hand חִלְּקַ֥תָּה SDBH has distributed לָהֶ֖ם it בַּקָּ֑ו SDBH by measure עַד־ SDBH it forever עוֹלָם֙ SDBH . . . יִֽירָשׁ֔וּהָ SDBH They will possess לְד֥וֹר SDBH from generation וָד֖וֹר SDBH to generation יִשְׁכְּנוּ־ SDBH they will dwell בָֽהּ׃ס in it

And He hath cast the goral (lot) for them, and His Yad hath made the land assignment unto them by measuring line; they shall possess it ad olam, from dor to dor shall they dwell therein.
