Yeshayah 16 — Hebrew–OJB Interlinear

שִׁלְחוּ־ SDBH Send כַ֥ר SDBH the [tribute] lambs מֹשֵֽׁל־ SDBH to the ruler אֶ֖רֶץ SDBH of the land מִסֶּ֣לַע SDBH from Sela מִדְבָּ֑רָה SDBH in the desert אֶל־ to הַ֖ר SDBH the mount בַּת־ SDBH of Daughter צִיּֽוֹן׃ SDBH Zion

Send ye the lamb to the MoshelEretz, from Sela by way of the midbar, unto Har Bat Tziyon.

וְהָיָ֥ה - כְעוֹף־ SDBH Like fluttering birds נוֹדֵ֖ד SDBH . . . קֵ֣ן SDBH out of the nest מְשֻׁלָּ֑ח SDBH pushed תִּֽהְיֶ֙ינָה֙ so are בְּנ֣וֹת SDBH the daughters מוֹאָ֔ב SDBH of Moab מַעְבָּרֹ֖ת SDBH at the fords לְאַרְנֽוֹן׃ SDBH of the Arnon

For it shall be, that, as an oph noded (wandering bird) cast out of the ken (nest), so the Banot Moav shall be at the fords of the Arnon.

הָבִיאוּ SDBH Give us עֵצָה֙ SDBH counsel עֲשׂ֣וּ SDBH render פְלִילָ֔ה SDBH a decision שִׁ֧יתִי SDBH . . . כַלַּ֛יִל SDBH as dark as night צִלֵּ֖ךְ SDBH with shade בְּת֣וֹךְ SDBH . . . צָהֳרָ֑יִם SDBH Shelter us at noonday סַתְּרִי֙ SDBH Hide נִדָּחִ֔ים SDBH the refugees נֹדֵ֖ד SDBH the one who flees אַל־ do not תְּגַלִּֽי׃ SDBH betray

Give us etzah (counsel, advice); make pelilah (decision, justice); cast thy tzel as the lailah in the midst of tzahorayim; hide the fugitives; betray not him that is refugee.

יָג֤וּרוּ SDBH stay בָךְ֙ with you נִדָּחַ֔י SDBH Let my fugitives מוֹאָ֛ב SDBH for Moab הֱוִי־ be סֵ֥תֶר SDBH a refuge לָ֖מוֹ מִפְּנֵ֣י from שׁוֹדֵ֑ד SDBH the destroyer כִּֽי־ When אָפֵ֤ס SDBH has gone הַמֵּץ֙ SDBH the oppressor כָּ֣לָה SDBH has ceased שֹׁ֔ד SDBH destruction תַּ֥מּוּ SDBH have vanished רֹמֵ֖ס SDBH and the oppressors מִן־ from הָאָֽרֶץ׃ SDBH the land

Let fugitives of Moav dwell with thee; be thou a seter (shelter, hiding place) to them from before the shoded (destroyer); for the oppressor is at an end, shod (destruction) ceaseth, the aggressors are consumed out of HaAretz.

וְהוּכַ֤ן SDBH will be established בַּחֶ֙סֶד֙ SDBH in loving devotion כִּסֵּ֔א SDBH a throne וְיָשַׁ֥ב SDBH will sit עָלָ֛יו on [it] בֶּאֱמֶ֖ת SDBH in faithfulness בְּאֹ֣הֶל SDBH in the tent דָּוִ֑ד SDBH of David שֹׁפֵ֛ט SDBH A judge וְדֹרֵ֥שׁ SDBH seeking מִשְׁפָּ֖ט SDBH justice וּמְהִ֥ר SDBH and hastening צֶֽדֶק׃ SDBH righteousness

And in chesed shall the kisse be established; and sitting upon it in emes in the Ohel Dovid, a Shofet seeking mishpat, and hastening tzedek.

שָׁמַ֥עְנוּ SDBH We have heard גְאוֹן־ SDBH pomposity מוֹאָ֖ב SDBH of Moab’s גֵּ֣א SDBH pride מְאֹ֑ד his exceeding גַּאֲוָת֧וֹ SDBH [and] conceit וּגְאוֹנ֛וֹ SDBH arrogance וְעֶבְרָת֖וֹ SDBH his overflowing לֹא־ SDBH is empty כֵ֥ן SDBH . . . בַּדָּֽיו׃ס SDBH But his boasting

We have heard of the ga'on Moav; he is very proud; even of his ga'avah (haughtiness), and his ga'on, and his insolence; but his boasts shall not be so.

לָכֵ֗ן SDBH Therefore יְיֵלִ֥יל SDBH wail מוֹאָ֛ב SDBH let Moab לְמוֹאָ֖ב SDBH for Moab כֻּלֹּ֣ה together יְיֵלִ֑יל SDBH let them wail לַאֲשִׁישֵׁ֧י SDBH for the raisin cakes קִיר־ SDBH vvv חֲרֶ֛שֶׂת SDBH of Kir-hareseth תֶּהְגּ֖וּ SDBH Moan אַךְ־ SDBH you who are utterly נְכָאִֽים׃ SDBH stricken

Therefore shall Moav wail for Moav, everyone shall wail; for the raisin cakes of Kir Chareset shall ye mourn; surely as they who grieve.

כִּ֣י For שַׁדְמוֹת֩ SDBH the fields חֶשְׁבּ֨וֹן SDBH of Heshbon אֻמְלָ֜ל SDBH have withered גֶּ֣פֶן SDBH along with the grapevines שִׂבְמָ֗ה SDBH of Sibmah בַּעֲלֵ֤י SDBH The rulers גוֹיִם֙ SDBH of the nations הָלְמ֣וּ SDBH have trampled שְׂרוּקֶּ֔יהָ SDBH its choicest vines עַד־ SDBH as יַעְזֵ֥ר SDBH far as Jazer נָגָ֖עוּ SDBH which had reached תָּ֣עוּ SDBH and spread מִדְבָּ֑ר SDBH toward the desert שְׁלֻ֣חוֹתֶ֔יהָ SDBH Their shoots נִטְּשׁ֖וּ SDBH had spread out עָ֥בְרוּ SDBH and passed over יָֽם׃ SDBH the sea

For the fields of Cheshbon languish, and the gefen of Sivmah; Ba'alei Goyim have broken down the choicest vines thereof, they reached even unto Yazer, they wandered to the midbar; her shoots are stretched out, they are gone over the yam.

עַל־ So כֵּ֡ן SDBH . . . אֶבְכֶּ֞ה SDBH I weep בִּבְכִ֤י SDBH . . . יַעְזֵר֙ SDBH with Jazer גֶּ֣פֶן SDBH for the vines שִׂבְמָ֔ה SDBH of Sibmah אֲרַיָּ֙וֶךְ֙ SDBH I drench דִּמְעָתִ֔י SDBH with my tears חֶשְׁבּ֖וֹן SDBH Heshbon וְאֶלְעָלֵ֑ה SDBH and Elealeh כִּ֧י . . . עַל־ over קֵיצֵ֛ךְ SDBH your summer fruit וְעַל־ . . . קְצִירֵ֖ךְ SDBH and your harvest הֵידָ֥ד SDBH Triumphant shouts נָפָֽל׃ SDBH have fallen silent

Therefore I will bewail with the weeping of Yazer the gefen of Sivmah; I will water thee with my tears, O Cheshbon, and Elealeh; for the shouting for thy summer fruits and for thy katzir has fallen away.

וְנֶאֱסַ֨ף SDBH are removed שִׂמְחָ֤ה SDBH Joy וָגִיל֙ SDBH and gladness מִן־ from הַכַּרְמֶ֔ל SDBH the orchard וּבַכְּרָמִ֥ים SDBH in the vineyards לֹֽא־ SDBH no one יְרֻנָּ֖ן SDBH sings לֹ֣א SDBH No יְרֹעָ֑ע SDBH or shouts יַ֗יִן SDBH the grapes בַּיְקָבִ֛ים SDBH in the winepresses לֹֽא־ SDBH . . . יִדְרֹ֥ךְ SDBH one tramples הַדֹּרֵ֖ךְ SDBH . . . הֵידָ֥ד SDBH to the cheering הִשְׁבַּֽתִּי׃ SDBH I have put an end

And simchah is taken away, and gladness out of the carmel (fruitful field) and in the kramim (vineyards) there shall be no singing, neither shall there be shouting; the treaders shall tread out no yayin in their presses; I have made their vintage shouting to cease.

עַל־ Therefore כֵּן֙ SDBH . . . מֵעַ֣י SDBH my heart לְמוֹאָ֔ב SDBH for Moab כַּכִּנּ֖וֹר SDBH like a harp יֶֽהֱמ֑וּ SDBH laments וְקִרְבִּ֖י SDBH my inmost being לְקִ֥יר SDBH vvv חָֽרֶשׂ׃ SDBH for Kir-heres

Therefore my heart shall lament like a kinnor (harp) for Moav, and mine inmost being for Kir Charesh.

וְהָיָ֧ה - כִֽי־ When נִרְאָ֛ה SDBH appears כִּֽי־ when נִלְאָ֥ה SDBH he wearies himself מוֹאָ֖ב SDBH Moab עַל־ on הַבָּמָ֑ה SDBH the high place וּבָ֧א SDBH and enters אֶל־ . . . מִקְדָּשׁ֛וֹ SDBH his sanctuary לְהִתְפַּלֵּ֖ל SDBH to pray וְלֹ֥א SDBH it will do him no יוּכָֽל׃ SDBH good

And it shall come to pass, when it is seen that Moav is weary on the high place, that he shall come to his mikdash (sanctuary) to pray; but he shall not prevail.

זֶ֣ה SDBH This הַדָּבָ֗ר SDBH is the message אֲשֶׁ֨ר SDBH that דִּבֶּ֧ר SDBH spoke יְהוָ֛ה SDBH Hashem/Adonoi אֶל־ concerning מוֹאָ֖ב SDBH Moab מֵאָֽז׃ SDBH earlier

This is the Davar that Hashem hath spoken earlier concerning Moav.

וְעַתָּ֗ה SDBH And now דִּבֶּ֣ר SDBH says יְהוָה֮ SDBH Hashem/Adonoi לֵאמֹר֒ SDBH . . . בְּשָׁלֹ֤שׁ SDBH In three שָׁנִים֙ SDBH years כִּשְׁנֵ֣י SDBH counts the years שָׂכִ֔יר SDBH as a hired worker וְנִקְלָה֙ will become an object of contempt כְּב֣וֹד SDBH splendor מוֹאָ֔ב SDBH Moab’s בְּכֹ֖ל with all הֶהָמ֣וֹן SDBH people הָרָ֑ב SDBH her many וּשְׁאָ֥ר SDBH And those who are left מְעַ֛ט SDBH will be few מִזְעָ֖ר SDBH . . . ל֥וֹא SDBH [and] feeble כַבִּֽיר׃ס SDBH . . .

But now Hashem hath spoken, saying, Within shalosh shanim, as the shenei sachir (years of a hired man), and the kavod Moav shall be degraded, with all that hamon harav (great multitude); and the remnant shall be very small and feeble.
