מַה־ SDBH How יָּפ֧וּ SDBH beautiful פְעָמַ֛יִךְ SDBH feet בַּנְּעָלִ֖ים SDBH are your sandaled בַּת־ SDBH O daughter נָדִ֑יב SDBH of the prince חַמּוּקֵ֣י SDBH The curves יְרֵכַ֔יִךְ SDBH of your thighs כְּמ֣וֹ SDBH are like חֲלָאִ֔ים SDBH jewels מַעֲשֵׂ֖ה SDBH the handiwork יְדֵ֥י SDBH . . . אָמָּֽן׃ SDBH of a master

How beautiful are thy feet in sandals, O prince's daughter! Thy graceful legs are like jewels, ma'aseh yedei amon (the work of the hands of an artist, see Prov 8:30).

שָׁרְרֵךְ֙ SDBH Your navel אַגַּ֣ן SDBH goblet הַסַּ֔הַר SDBH is a rounded אַל־ it never יֶחְסַ֖ר SDBH lacks הַמָּ֑זֶג SDBH blended wine בִּטְנֵךְ֙ SDBH Your waist עֲרֵמַ֣ת SDBH is a mound חִטִּ֔ים SDBH of wheat סוּגָ֖ה SDBH encircled בַּשּׁוֹשַׁנִּֽים׃ SDBH by the lilies

Thy navel is like a round goblet, which wanteth not wine: thy waist is like a mound of chittim (wheat) encircled by shoshanim (lilies).

שְׁנֵ֥י SDBH are like two שָׁדַ֛יִךְ SDBH Your breasts כִּשְׁנֵ֥י SDBH . . . עֳפָרִ֖ים SDBH fawns תָּאֳמֵ֥י SDBH twins צְבִיָּֽה׃ SDBH of a gazelle

Thy two breasts are like two fawns that are twins of a gazelle.

צַוָּארֵ֖ךְ SDBH Your neck כְּמִגְדַּ֣ל SDBH is like a tower הַשֵּׁ֑ן SDBH [made] of ivory עֵינַ֜יִךְ SDBH your eyes בְּרֵכ֣וֹת SDBH are like the pools בְּחֶשְׁבּ֗וֹן SDBH of Heshbon עַל־ by שַׁ֙עַר֙ SDBH the gate בַּת־ SDBH vvv רַבִּ֔ים SDBH of Bath-rabbim אַפֵּךְ֙ SDBH your nose כְּמִגְדַּ֣ל SDBH is like the tower הַלְּבָנ֔וֹן SDBH of Lebanon צוֹפֶ֖ה SDBH facing toward פְּנֵ֥י . . . דַמָּֽשֶׂק׃ SDBH Damascus

Thy tzavar (neck) is like a migdal of ivory; thine eyes like the pools of Cheshbon, by the sha'ar (gate) of Bat- Rabbim; thy nose is like the migdal of the Levanon which looketh toward Damascus.

רֹאשֵׁ֤ךְ SDBH Your head עָלַ֙יִךְ֙ crowns you כַּכַּרְמֶ֔ל SDBH like Mount Carmel וְדַלַּ֥ת SDBH the hair רֹאשֵׁ֖ךְ SDBH of your head כָּאַרְגָּמָ֑ן SDBH like purple [threads] מֶ֖לֶךְ SDBH the king אָס֥וּר SDBH is captured בָּרְהָטִֽים׃ SDBH in your tresses

Thine head upon thee is like Carmel, and the hair of thine head like royal tapestry; Melech is held captive in its tresses.

מַה־ SDBH How יָּפִית֙ SDBH fair וּמַה־ SDBH and נָּעַ֔מְתְּ SDBH pleasant [you are] אַהֲבָ֖ה SDBH O love בַּתַּֽעֲנוּגִֽים׃ SDBH with your delights

How fair and how pleasant art thou, O Ahavah, for delights!

זֹ֤את SDBH - קֽוֹמָתֵךְ֙ SDBH Your stature דָּֽמְתָ֣ה SDBH is like לְתָמָ֔ר SDBH a palm tree וְשָׁדַ֖יִךְ SDBH your breasts לְאַשְׁכֹּלֽוֹת׃ SDBH are clusters of fruit

This thy stature is like a tamar (palm tree), and thy breasts eshkolot (clusters [of fruit]).

אָמַ֙רְתִּי֙ SDBH I said אֶעֱלֶ֣ה SDBH I will climb בְתָמָ֔ר SDBH the palm tree אֹֽחֲזָ֖ה SDBH I will take hold בְּסַנְסִנָּ֑יו SDBH of its fruit וְיִֽהְיוּ־ be נָ֤א . . . שָׁדַ֙יִךְ֙ SDBH May your breasts כְּאֶשְׁכְּל֣וֹת SDBH like clusters הַגֶּ֔פֶן SDBH of the vine וְרֵ֥יחַ SDBH the fragrance אַפֵּ֖ךְ SDBH of your breath כַּתַּפּוּחִֽים׃ SDBH like apples

I said, I will climb up to the tamar, I will take hold of the branches thereof; now also thy breasts shall be as eshkelot hagefen (clusters of the vine), and the scent of thy breath like apples;

וְחִכֵּ֕ךְ SDBH and your mouth כְּיֵ֥ין SDBH wine הַטּ֛וֹב SDBH like the finest הוֹלֵ֥ךְ SDBH May it flow לְדוֹדִ֖י SDBH to my beloved לְמֵישָׁרִ֑ים SDBH smoothly דּוֹבֵ֖ב SDBH gliding gently over שִׂפְתֵ֥י SDBH lips יְשֵׁנִֽים׃ SDBH and teeth

And the roof of thy mouth like the best yayin of dodi (my beloved), that goeth down sweetly, causing the lips of those that are asleep to speak.

אֲנִ֣י SDBH I לְדוֹדִ֔י SDBH belong to my beloved וְעָלַ֖י is for me תְּשׁוּקָתֽוֹ׃ס SDBH and his desire

I am my beloved's, and to me goeth forth his teshukah (desire).

לְכָ֤ה SDBH Come דוֹדִי֙ SDBH my beloved נֵצֵ֣א SDBH let us go הַשָּׂדֶ֔ה SDBH to the countryside נָלִ֖ינָה SDBH let us spend the night בַּכְּפָרִֽים׃ SDBH among the wildflowers

Come, dodi (my beloved), let us go forth into the sadeh; let us lodge in the villages.

נַשְׁכִּ֙ימָה֙ SDBH Let us go early לַכְּרָמִ֔ים SDBH to the vineyards נִרְאֶ֞ה SDBH to see אִם SDBH if פָּֽרְחָ֤ה SDBH has budded הַגֶּ֙פֶן֙ SDBH the vine פִּתַּ֣ח SDBH has opened הַסְּמָדַ֔ר SDBH if the blossom הֵנֵ֖צוּ SDBH . . . הָרִמּוֹנִ֑ים SDBH if the pomegranates are in bloom שָׁ֛ם SDBH there אֶתֵּ֥ן I will give אֶת־ SDBH you דֹּדַ֖י SDBH my love לָֽךְ׃

Let us get up early to the kramim (vineyards); let us see if the gefen budded, whether the tender grape appears, and the pomegranates bloom; there will I give thee my love.

הַֽדּוּדָאִ֣ים SDBH The mandrakes נָֽתְנוּ־ send forth רֵ֗יחַ SDBH a fragrance וְעַל־ and at פְּתָחֵ֙ינוּ֙ SDBH our door כָּל־ is every מְגָדִ֔ים SDBH delicacy חֲדָשִׁ֖ים SDBH new גַּם־ SDBH as יְשָׁנִ֑ים SDBH well as old דּוֹדִ֖י SDBH my beloved צָפַ֥נְתִּי SDBH that I have treasured up לָֽךְ׃ for you

The mandrakes send out their fragrance, and at our doors are all manner of pleasant fruits, chadashim (new ones) and yeshanim (old ones), which I have stored up and kept for thee, O dodi (my beloved). [T.N. JUST AS THERE ARE DIFFERENT CLASSES OF WOMEN IN THE HAREM-SO THERE ARE DIFFERENT RESIDENCES IN THE BOOK OF ESTHER, FOR THE MALKAH, FOR THE PILEGESH AND FOR THE ALMAH OR BETULAH; CF SONG 6:8 AND ESTHER CHP 2.]
