חֲז֖וֹן SDBH [This is] the vision עֹֽבַדְיָ֑ה SDBH of Obadiah כֹּֽה־ This is what אָמַר֩ SDBH says אֲדֹנָ֨י SDBH the Lord יְהוִ֜ה SDBH Hashem/Adonoi לֶאֱד֗וֹם SDBH about Edom שְׁמוּעָ֨ה SDBH a message שָׁמַ֜עְנוּ SDBH We have heard מֵאֵ֤ת SDBH . . . יְהוָה֙ SDBH Hashem/Adonoi וְצִיר֙ SDBH an envoy בַּגּוֹיִ֣ם SDBH among the nations שֻׁלָּ֔ח SDBH has been sent ק֛וּמוּ SDBH [to say,] “Rise up וְנָק֥וּמָה SDBH and let us go עָלֶיהָ against her לַמִּלְחָמָֽה׃ SDBH to battle
The chazon (vision) of Obadyah: Thus saith Adonoi Hashem concerning Edom: We have heard a report from Hashem, and an envoy is sent among the Goyim, Arise ye, and let us rise up against her (Edom) in battle.

הִנֵּ֥ה Behold קָטֹ֛ן SDBH small נְתַתִּ֖יךָ I will make you בַּגּוֹיִ֑ם SDBH among the nations בָּז֥וּי SDBH despised אַתָּ֖ה SDBH you מְאֹֽד׃ will be deeply
Hinei, I have made thee small among the Goyim; thou art greatly despised.

זְד֤וֹן SDBH The pride לִבְּךָ֙ SDBH of your heart הִשִּׁיאֶ֔ךָ SDBH has deceived you שֹׁכְנִ֥י SDBH O dwellers בְחַגְוֵי־ SDBH in the clefts סֶּ֖לַע SDBH of the rocks מְר֣וֹם SDBH the heights שִׁבְתּ֑וֹ SDBH whose habitation is אֹמֵ֣ר SDBH who say בְּלִבּ֔וֹ SDBH in your heart מִ֥י SDBH Who יוֹרִדֵ֖נִי SDBH can bring me down אָֽרֶץ׃ SDBH to the ground
The zadon (pride, presumption, arrogance) of thine lev (heart) hath deceived thee, thou that dwellest in the clefts of the rock, whose habitation is high; that saith in his lev, Who shall bring me down to the ground?
Though thou exalt thyself to soar as the nesher, and though thou set thy nest among the kokhavim (stars), thence will I bring thee down, saith Hashem.

אִם־ SDBH If גַּנָּבִ֤ים SDBH thieves בָּאֽוּ־ SDBH came לְךָ֙ to you אִם־ SDBH if שׁ֣וֹדְדֵי SDBH robbers לַ֔יְלָה SDBH by night אֵ֣יךְ SDBH oh, how נִדְמֵ֔יתָה SDBH you will be ruined הֲל֥וֹא SDBH would they not יִגְנְב֖וּ SDBH steal דַּיָּ֑ם SDBH [only] what they wanted אִם־ SDBH If בֹּֽצְרִים֙ SDBH grape gatherers בָּ֣אוּ SDBH came לָ֔ךְ to you הֲל֖וֹא SDBH would they not יַשְׁאִ֥ירוּ SDBH leave עֹלֵלֽוֹת׃ SDBH [some] gleanings
If ganavim (thieves) came to thee, if shodedei lailah (robbers by night) - oh how art thou cut off! --would they not have stolen only till they had enough? If the grape gatherers came to thee, would they not leave some grapes?

How is Esav searched out! How are his hidden treasures pillaged!

עַֽד־ SDBH you to הַגְּב֣וּל SDBH the border שִׁלְּח֗וּךָ SDBH will drive כֹּ֚ל All אַנְשֵׁ֣י SDBH the men בְרִיתֶ֔ךָ SDBH allied with you הִשִּׁיא֛וּךָ SDBH will deceive יָכְל֥וּ SDBH and overpower לְךָ֖ you אַנְשֵׁ֣י SDBH the men שְׁלֹמֶ֑ךָ SDBH at peace with you לַחְמְךָ֗ SDBH [Those who eat] your bread יָשִׂ֤ימוּ SDBH will set מָזוֹר֙ SDBH a trap תַּחְתֶּ֔יךָ SDBH for you אֵ֥ין SDBH without your תְּבוּנָ֖ה SDBH awareness בּֽוֹ׃ of it
All the men of thy alliance have forced thee and brought thee even to the border; the anshei shlomecha (the men that were at peace with thee) have deceived thee, and prevailed against thee; they that eat thy lechem (bread) have laid a mazor (net, trap) under thee; there is none detecting it.

Shall I not in that day, saith Hashem, even destroy the chachamim (wise men) out of Edom, and understanding out of the Har Esav?
9
וְחַתּ֥וּ SDBH will be terrified גִבּוֹרֶ֖יךָ SDBH Then your mighty men תֵּימָ֑ן SDBH O Teman לְמַ֧עַן so that יִכָּֽרֶת־ SDBH will be cut down אִ֛ישׁ SDBH everyone מֵהַ֥ר SDBH in the mountains עֵשָׂ֖ו SDBH of Esau מִקָּֽטֶל׃ SDBH in the slaughter
And thy gibborim (mighty men), O Teman, shall be dismayed and lose courage, to the end that every one of the Har Esav may be cut off by slaughter.

מֵחֲמַ֛ס SDBH Because of the violence אָחִ֥יךָ SDBH against your brother יַעֲקֹ֖ב SDBH Jacob תְּכַסְּךָ֣ SDBH you will be covered בוּשָׁ֑ה SDBH with shame וְנִכְרַ֖תָּ SDBH and cut off לְעוֹלָֽם׃ SDBH forever
For thy chamas against thy brother Ya'akov, bushah (shame) shall cover thee, and thou shalt be cut off l'olam (for ever).
In the day that thou stood aloof on the other side, in the day that the zarim (strangers) carried away captive his forces, and foreigners entered into his gates, and cast lots for Yerushalayim, even thou wast as one of them.

וְאַל־ But you should not תֵּ֤רֶא SDBH gloat בְיוֹם־ SDBH in that day אָחִ֙יךָ֙ SDBH your brother’s בְּי֣וֹם SDBH day נָכְר֔וֹ SDBH of misfortune וְאַל־ nor תִּשְׂמַ֥ח SDBH rejoice לִבְנֵֽי־ SDBH over the people יְהוּדָ֖ה SDBH of Judah בְּי֣וֹם SDBH in the day אָבְדָ֑ם SDBH of their destruction וְאַל־ nor תַּגְדֵּ֥ל SDBH boast proudly פִּ֖יךָ SDBH . . . בְּי֥וֹם SDBH in the day צָרָֽה׃ SDBH of their distress
But thou shouldest not have gloated over the day of thy brother in the day of his misfortune; neither shouldest thou have rejoiced over the Bnei Yehudah in the day of their destruction; neither shouldest thou have spoken proudly in the Yom Tzarah (Day of Trouble).

Thou shouldest not have entered into the sha'ar Ami (gate of My people) in the day of their calamity; yea, thou shouldest not have looked down on their affliction in the day of their calamity, nor have laid hands on their substance in the day of their calamity;
Neither shouldest thou have stood in the crossroads, to cut off those of his that did escape; neither shouldest thou have delivered up those of his that did survive in the Yom Tzarah.
15
כִּֽי־ For קָר֥וֹב SDBH is near יוֹם־ SDBH the Day יְהוָ֖ה SDBH Hashem/Adonoi עַל־ for כָּל־ all הַגּוֹיִ֑ם SDBH the nations כַּאֲשֶׁ֤ר SDBH As עָשִׂ֙יתָ֙ SDBH you have done יֵעָ֣שֶׂה SDBH it will be done לָּ֔ךְ to you גְּמֻלְךָ֖ SDBH your recompense יָשׁ֥וּב SDBH will return בְּרֹאשֶֽׁךָ׃ SDBH upon your own head
For the Yom Hashem is near upon all the Goyim: as thou hast done, it shall be done unto thee: thy reward shall return upon thine own head.
16
כִּ֗י For כַּֽאֲשֶׁ֤ר SDBH as שְׁתִיתֶם֙ SDBH you drank עַל־ on הַ֣ר SDBH mountain קָדְשִׁ֔י SDBH My holy יִשְׁתּ֥וּ SDBH will drink כָֽל־ so all הַגּוֹיִ֖ם SDBH the nations תָּמִ֑יד SDBH continually וְשָׁת֣וּ SDBH They will drink וְלָע֔וּ SDBH and gulp [it] down וְהָי֖וּ they will be כְּל֥וֹא SDBH as if they had never הָיֽוּ׃ existed
For as ye have drunk upon My Har Kodesh (Holy Mountain), so shall all the Goyim drink continually; yea, they shall drink, and they shall swallow down, and they shall be as though they had not been.
But upon Mt Tziyon shall be deliverance, and there shall be kodesh (holiness); and the Beis Ya'akov shall possess their inheritances.
18
וְהָיָה֩ will be בֵית־ SDBH Then the house יַעֲקֹ֨ב SDBH of Jacob אֵ֜שׁ SDBH a blazing fire וּבֵ֧ית SDBH and the house יוֹסֵ֣ף SDBH of Joseph לֶהָבָ֗ה SDBH a burning flame וּבֵ֤ית SDBH but the house עֵשָׂו֙ SDBH of Esau לְקַ֔שׁ SDBH will be stubble וְדָלְק֥וּ SDBH Jacob will set it ablaze בָהֶ֖ם וַאֲכָל֑וּם SDBH and consume it וְלֹֽא־ SDBH Therefore no יִֽהְיֶ֤ה will remain שָׂרִיד֙ SDBH survivor לְבֵ֣ית SDBH from the house עֵשָׂ֔ו SDBH of Esau כִּ֥י For יְהוָ֖ה SDBH Hashem/Adonoi דִּבֵּֽר׃ SDBH has spoken
And the Beis Ya'akov shall be an eish (fire), and the Beis Yosef a flame, and the Beis Esav for stubble, and they shall kindle in them, and devour them; and there shall not be any remaining of the Beis Esav; for Hashem hath spoken.
19
וְיָרְשׁ֨וּ SDBH will possess הַנֶּ֜גֶב SDBH Those from the Negev אֶת־ SDBH - הַ֣ר SDBH the mountains עֵשָׂ֗ו SDBH of Esau וְהַשְּׁפֵלָה֙ SDBH those from the foothills אֶת־ SDBH - פְּלִשְׁתִּ֔ים SDBH [will possess the land] of the Philistines וְיָרְשׁוּ֙ SDBH They will occupy אֶת־ SDBH - שְׂדֵ֣ה SDBH the fields אֶפְרַ֔יִם SDBH of Ephraim וְאֵ֖ת SDBH - שְׂדֵ֣ה SDBH - שֹׁמְר֑וֹן SDBH and Samaria וּבִנְיָמִ֖ן SDBH and Benjamin [will possess] אֶת־ SDBH - הַגִּלְעָֽד׃ SDBH Gilead
And they of the Negev shall possess Har Esav; and they of the Shefelah, the Philistines; and they shall possess the fields of Ephraim, and the fields of Shomron; and Benjamin shall possess Gile'ad.
20
וְגָלֻ֣ת SDBH And the exiles הַֽחֵל־ SDBH host הַ֠זֶּה SDBH of this לִבְנֵ֨י SDBH vvv יִשְׂרָאֵ֤ל SDBH of the Israelites אֲשֶֽׁר־ SDBH כְּנַעֲנִים֙ SDBH [will possess the land] of the Canaanites עַד־ SDBH as צָ֣רְפַ֔ת SDBH far as Zarephath וְגָלֻ֥ת SDBH and the exiles יְרוּשָׁלִַ֖ם SDBH from Jerusalem אֲשֶׁ֣ר SDBH who בִּסְפָרַ֑ד SDBH are in Sepharad יִֽרְשׁ֕וּ SDBH will possess אֵ֖ת SDBH - עָרֵ֥י SDBH the cities הַנֶּֽגֶב׃ SDBH of the Negev
And those of the Golus of Bnei Yisroel shall possess that of the Canaanites, even unto Tzarphat; and those of the Golus of Yerushalayim, which is in Sepharad, shall possess the cities of the Negev.
And Moshi'im (Deliverers) shall come up on Mt Tziyon to judge the Har Esav; and HaMamlachah (the Kingdom) shall be Hashem's.
