Vayikra 5 — Hebrew–OJB Interlinear

1

וְנֶ֣פֶשׁ SDBH someone כִּֽי־ If תֶחֱטָ֗א SDBH sins וְשָֽׁמְעָה֙ SDBH when he hears ק֣וֹל SDBH a public אָלָ֔ה SDBH charge וְה֣וּא SDBH about something he עֵ֔ד SDBH has witnessed א֥וֹ SDBH whether רָאָ֖ה SDBH he has seen it א֣וֹ SDBH or יָדָ֑ע SDBH learned of it אִם־ SDBH . . . ל֥וֹא SDBH by failing יַגִּ֖יד SDBH to testify וְנָשָׂ֥א SDBH he shall bear עֲוֺנֽוֹ׃ SDBH the iniquity

And if a nefesh sin, after he hears a public adjuration to give testimony, and he is an ed (witness), whether he hath seen or known of it; if he does not utter it, then he shall bear his avon (iniquity).

א֣וֹ SDBH Or נֶ֗פֶשׁ SDBH if a person אֲשֶׁ֣ר SDBH - תִּגַּע֮ SDBH touches בְּכָל־ anything דָּבָ֣ר SDBH . . . טָמֵא֒ SDBH unclean אוֹ֩ SDBH - בְנִבְלַ֨ת SDBH whether the carcass חַיָּ֜ה SDBH wild animal טְמֵאָ֗ה SDBH of [any] unclean א֤וֹ SDBH or בְּנִבְלַת֙ SDBH . . . בְּהֵמָ֣ה SDBH livestock טְמֵאָ֔ה SDBH - א֕וֹ SDBH or בְּנִבְלַ֖ת SDBH . . . שֶׁ֣רֶץ SDBH crawling creature טָמֵ֑א SDBH - וְנֶעְלַ֣ם SDBH even if he is unaware מִמֶּ֔נּוּ of it וְה֥וּא SDBH he טָמֵ֖א SDBH is unclean וְאָשֵֽׁם׃ SDBH and guilty

Or if a nefesh touch anything tamei (unclean), whether it be a nivlat chayyah teme'ah (carcass of an unclean beast), or a nivlat behemah teme'ah (carcass of unclean livestock), or the nivlat sheretz tamei (carcass of unclean creeping things), and if it be hidden from him; he also shall be tamei, and guilty.

א֣וֹ SDBH Or כִ֤י if יִגַּע֙ SDBH he touches בְּטֻמְאַ֣ת SDBH uncleanness אָדָ֔ם SDBH human לְכֹל֙ anything טֻמְאָת֔וֹ SDBH - אֲשֶׁ֥ר SDBH by which יִטְמָ֖א SDBH one becomes unclean בָּ֑הּ וְנֶעְלַ֣ם SDBH even if he is unaware מִמֶּ֔נּוּ of it וְה֥וּא SDBH when he יָדַ֖ע SDBH realizes it וְאָשֵֽׁם׃ SDBH he is guilty

Or if he touch the tumat adam (uncleanness of man), whatsoever tumah it be that a man shall be made unclean therewith, and it be hid from him; when he knoweth of it, then he shall be guilty.

א֣וֹ SDBH Or נֶ֡פֶשׁ SDBH someone כִּ֣י if תִשָּׁבַע֩ SDBH swears לְבַטֵּ֨א SDBH thoughtlessly בִשְׂפָתַ֜יִם SDBH with his lips לְהָרַ֣ע׀ SDBH evil א֣וֹ SDBH or לְהֵיטִ֗יב SDBH to do anything good לְ֠כֹל in אֲשֶׁ֨ר SDBH whatever matter יְבַטֵּ֧א SDBH may rashly pronounce הָאָדָ֛ם SDBH a man בִּשְׁבֻעָ֖ה SDBH an oath וְנֶעְלַ֣ם SDBH even if he is unaware מִמֶּ֑נּוּ of it וְהוּא־ SDBH when he יָדַ֥ע SDBH realizes it וְאָשֵׁ֖ם SDBH he is guilty לְאַחַ֥ת SDBH vvv מֵאֵֽלֶּה׃ SDBH in [the matter]

Or if a nefesh swear, rashly pronouncing with his lips to do harah, or to do hatov, whatsoever it be that a man shall pronounce with a shevuah (oath), and it be hid from him; when he knoweth of it, then he shall be guilty in one of these.

וְהָיָ֥ה - כִֽי־ If יֶאְשַׁ֖ם SDBH someone incurs guilt לְאַחַ֣ת SDBH in one מֵאֵ֑לֶּה SDBH of these ways וְהִ֨תְוַדָּ֔ה SDBH he must confess אֲשֶׁ֥ר SDBH - חָטָ֖א SDBH the sin he has committed עָלֶֽיהָ׃ . . .

And it shall be, when he shall be guilty in one of these things, that v'hitvaddah (he shall confess) that he hath sinned in that thing;

וְהֵבִ֣יא SDBH and he must bring אֶת־ SDBH - אֲשָׁמ֣וֹ SDBH his guilt offering לַיהוָ֡ה SDBH Hashem/Adonoi עַ֣ל for חַטָּאתוֹ֩ SDBH the sin אֲשֶׁ֨ר SDBH - חָטָ֜א SDBH he has committed נְקֵבָ֨ה SDBH a female מִן־ from הַצֹּ֥אן SDBH the flock כִּשְׂבָּ֛ה SDBH lamb אֽוֹ־ SDBH or שְׂעִירַ֥ת SDBH goat עִזִּ֖ים SDBH . . . לְחַטָּ֑את SDBH as a sin offering וְכִפֶּ֥ר SDBH will make atonement עָלָ֛יו for him הַכֹּהֵ֖ן SDBH And the priest מֵחַטָּאתֽוֹ׃ SDBH concerning his sin

And he shall bring his asham (penalty, trespass offering) unto Hashem for his chattat (sin) which he hath sinned, a nekevah from the flock, a lamb or a female goat, for a chattat (sin offering); and the kohen shall make kapporah for him concerning his chattat.

וְאִם־ SDBH If, however לֹ֨א SDBH he cannot תַגִּ֣יע SDBH afford יָדוֹ֮ SDBH . . . דֵּ֣י SDBH . . . שֶׂה֒ SDBH a lamb וְהֵבִ֨יא SDBH he may bring אֶת־ SDBH - אֲשָׁמ֜וֹ SDBH as restitution אֲשֶׁ֣ר SDBH - חָטָ֗א SDBH for his sin שְׁתֵּ֥י SDBH two תֹרִ֛ים SDBH turtledoves אֽוֹ־ SDBH or שְׁנֵ֥י SDBH two בְנֵֽי־ SDBH young יוֹנָ֖ה SDBH pigeons לַֽיהוָ֑ה SDBH Hashem/Adonoi אֶחָ֥ד SDBH one לְחַטָּ֖את SDBH as a sin offering וְאֶחָ֥ד SDBH and the other לְעֹלָֽה׃ SDBH as a burnt offering

And if he be not able to afford a seh (lamb), then he shall bring for his asham (guilt offering, SEE SANHEDRIN 98B ON ISA 53; SEE ISA 53:10 WHICH SAYS THAT MOSHIACH'S SELF-OFFERING WILL BE AN ASHAM FOR HIS PEOPLE, CF ISA 53:8), which he hath sinned, two turtledoves, or two young pigeons, unto Hashem; one for a chattat (sin offering), and the other for an olah (burnt offering).

וְהֵבִ֤יא SDBH He is to bring אֹתָם֙ SDBH them אֶל־ to הַכֹּהֵ֔ן SDBH the priest וְהִקְרִ֛יב SDBH present אֶת־ SDBH - אֲשֶׁ֥ר SDBH the one לַחַטָּ֖את SDBH for the sin offering רִאשׁוֹנָ֑ה SDBH who shall first וּמָלַ֧ק SDBH He is to twist אֶת־ SDBH - רֹאשׁ֛וֹ SDBH its head מִמּ֥וּל SDBH at the front עָרְפּ֖וֹ SDBH of its neck וְלֹ֥א SDBH without יַבְדִּֽיל׃ SDBH severing it

And he shall bring them unto the kohen, who shall offer that which is for the chattat (sin offering) first, and wring off his head from his neck, but shall not separate it;

וְהִזָּ֞ה SDBH then he is to sprinkle מִדַּ֤ם SDBH some of the blood הַחַטָּאת֙ SDBH of the sin offering עַל־ on קִ֣יר SDBH the side הַמִּזְבֵּ֔חַ SDBH of the altar וְהַנִּשְׁאָ֣ר SDBH while the rest בַּדָּ֔ם SDBH of the blood יִמָּצֵ֖ה SDBH is drained out אֶל־ at יְס֣וֹד SDBH the base הַמִּזְבֵּ֑חַ SDBH of the altar חַטָּ֖את SDBH a sin offering הֽוּא׃ SDBH It [is]

And he shall sprinkle of the dahm of the chattat (sin offering) upon the side of the Mizbe'ach; and the rest of the dahm shall be pressed out at the base of the Mizbe'ach; it is a chattat (sin offering).

וְאֶת־ SDBH And הַשֵּׁנִ֛י SDBH the second [bird] יַעֲשֶׂ֥ה SDBH [the priest] must prepare עֹלָ֖ה SDBH as a burnt offering כַּמִּשְׁפָּ֑ט SDBH according to the ordinance וְכִפֶּ֨ר SDBH will make atonement עָלָ֧יו for him הַכֹּהֵ֛ן SDBH In this way the priest מֵחַטָּאת֥וֹ SDBH for the sin אֲשֶׁר־ SDBH - חָטָ֖א SDBH he has committed וְנִסְלַ֥ח SDBH and he will be forgiven לֽוֹ׃ס

And he shall offer the second for an olah (burnt offering), according to the mishpat (prescribed manner); and the kohen shall make kapporah for him for his chattat (sin) which he hath sinned, and it shall be forgiven him.

וְאִם־ SDBH But if לֹא֩ SDBH he cannot תַשִּׂ֨יג SDBH afford יָד֜וֹ SDBH . . . לִשְׁתֵּ֣י SDBH two תֹרִ֗ים SDBH turtledoves אוֹ֮ SDBH or לִשְׁנֵ֣י SDBH two בְנֵי־ SDBH young יוֹנָה֒ SDBH pigeons וְהֵבִ֨יא SDBH he may bring אֶת־ SDBH - קָרְבָּנ֜וֹ SDBH - אֲשֶׁ֣ר SDBH - חָטָ֗א SDBH - עֲשִׂירִ֧ת SDBH a tenth הָאֵפָ֛ה SDBH of an ephah סֹ֖לֶת SDBH of fine flour לְחַטָּ֑את SDBH as a sin offering לֹא־ SDBH He must not יָשִׂ֨ים SDBH put עָלֶ֜יהָ on it שֶׁ֗מֶן SDBH olive oil וְלֹא־ SDBH . . . יִתֵּ֤ן . . . עָלֶ֙יהָ֙ . . . לְבֹנָ֔ה SDBH or frankincense כִּ֥י because חַטָּ֖את SDBH [is] a sin offering הִֽיא׃ SDBH it

But if he be not able to afford two turtledoves, or two young pigeons, then he that sinned shall bring for his korban the tenth part of an ephah of fine flour for a chattat (sin offering); he shall put no shemen upon it, neither shall he put any incense thereon; for it is a chattat (sin offering).

וֶהֱבִיאָהּ֮ SDBH He is to bring אֶל־ it to הַכֹּהֵן֒ SDBH the priest וְקָמַ֣ץ SDBH who shall take הַכֹּהֵ֣ן׀ SDBH . . . מִ֠מֶּנָּה from it מְל֨וֹא SDBH a handful קֻמְצ֜וֹ SDBH . . . אֶת־ SDBH - אַזְכָּרָתָה֙ SDBH as a memorial portion וְהִקְטִ֣יר SDBH and burn [it] הַמִּזְבֵּ֔חָה SDBH on the altar עַ֖ל atop אִשֵּׁ֣י SDBH the food offerings יְהוָ֑ה SDBH Hashem/Adonoi חַטָּ֖את SDBH is a sin offering הִֽוא׃ SDBH it

Then shall he bring it to the kohen, and the kohen shall take his handful of it, even a memorial portion thereof, and burn it on the Mizbe'ach, according to the offerings made by eish unto Hashem; it is a chattat (sin offering).

13

וְכִפֶּר֩ SDBH will make atonement עָלָ֨יו for him הַכֹּהֵ֜ן SDBH In this way the priest עַל־ for חַטָּאת֧וֹ SDBH sins אֲשֶׁר־ SDBH - חָטָ֛א SDBH he has committed מֵֽאַחַ֥ת SDBH any מֵאֵ֖לֶּה SDBH of these וְנִסְלַ֣ח SDBH and he will be forgiven ל֑וֹ וְהָיְתָ֥ה The remainder will belong to לַכֹּהֵ֖ן SDBH the priest כַּמִּנְחָֽה׃ס SDBH like the grain offering

And the kohen shall make kapporah for him as touching his chattat (sin) that he hath sinned in one of these, and it shall be forgiven him; and the remnant shall be the kohen's, like the minchah.

וַיְדַבֵּ֥ר SDBH said יְהוָ֖ה SDBH Hashem/Adonoi אֶל־ to מֹשֶׁ֥ה SDBH Moses לֵּאמֹֽר׃ SDBH . . .

And Hashem spoke unto Moshe saying,

15

נֶ֚פֶשׁ SDBH someone כִּֽי־ If תִמְעֹ֣ל SDBH acts מַ֔עַל SDBH unfaithfully וְחָֽטְאָה֙ SDBH and sins בִּשְׁגָגָ֔ה SDBH unintentionally against מִקָּדְשֵׁ֖י SDBH holy things יְהוָ֑ה SDBH Hashem/Adonoi וְהֵבִיא֩ SDBH he must bring אֶת־ SDBH - אֲשָׁמ֨וֹ SDBH his guilt offering לַֽיהוָ֜ה SDBH Hashem/Adonoi אַ֧יִל SDBH ram תָּמִ֣ים SDBH an unblemished מִן־ from הַצֹּ֗אן SDBH the flock בְּעֶרְכְּךָ֛ SDBH of proper value כֶּֽסֶף־ SDBH in silver שְׁקָלִ֥ים SDBH shekels בְּשֶֽׁקֶל־ SDBH shekel הַקֹּ֖דֶשׁ SDBH according to the sanctuary לְאָשָֽׁם׃ SDBH it is a guilt offering

If a nefesh commit a ma'al (trespass), and sin through ignorance (unintentionally), in the holy things of Hashem; then he shall bring for his asham unto Hashem a ram tamim [SEE GN 22:13 ON THE VICARIOUS ASPECT OF THE SUBSTITUTIONARY ATONEMENT AND COMPARE ISA 53:5,8] out of the flocks, with thy estimation by shekels of kesef, after the Shekel HaKodesh (the Shekel of the Sanctuary), for an asham (trespass or guilt offering).

וְאֵ֣ת SDBH - אֲשֶׁר֩ SDBH - חָטָ֨א SDBH he has harmed מִן־ . . . הַקֹּ֜דֶשׁ SDBH Regarding any holy thing יְשַׁלֵּ֗ם SDBH he must make restitution וְאֶת־ SDBH - חֲמִֽישִׁתוֹ֙ SDBH a fifth יוֹסֵ֣ף SDBH by adding עָלָ֔יו of its value to it וְנָתַ֥ן and giving אֹת֖וֹ SDBH - לַכֹּהֵ֑ן SDBH it to the priest וְהַכֹּהֵ֗ן SDBH [who] יְכַפֵּ֥ר SDBH will make atonement עָלָ֛יו on his behalf בְּאֵ֥יל SDBH with the ram הָאָשָׁ֖ם SDBH as a guilt offering וְנִסְלַ֥ח SDBH and he will be forgiven לֽוֹ׃פ

And he shall make restitution in regard to the holy thing in which he was remiss, and shall add the fifth part thereto, and give it unto the kohen; and the kohen shall make kapporah for him with the ram of the asham (trespass offering), and it shall be forgiven him.

17

וְאִם־ SDBH If נֶ֙פֶשׁ֙ SDBH someone כִּ֣י . . . תֶֽחֱטָ֔א SDBH sins וְעָֽשְׂתָ֗ה SDBH and violates אַחַת֙ SDBH any מִכָּל־ . . . מִצְוֺ֣ת SDBH commandments יְהוָ֔ה SDBH Hashem/Adonoi אֲשֶׁ֖ר SDBH - לֹ֣א SDBH even though he was תֵעָשֶׂ֑ינָה SDBH . . . וְלֹֽא־ SDBH . . . יָדַ֥ע SDBH unaware וְאָשֵׁ֖ם SDBH he is guilty וְנָשָׂ֥א SDBH and shall bear עֲוֺנֽוֹ׃ SDBH his punishment

And if a nefesh sin, and commit any of these things which are forbidden to be done by the mitzvot Hashem; though he know it not, yet he is guilty, and shall bear his avon (iniquity).

18

וְ֠הֵבִיא SDBH He is to bring אַ֣יִל SDBH ram תָּמִ֧ים SDBH an unblemished מִן־ from הַצֹּ֛אן SDBH the flock בְּעֶרְכְּךָ֥ SDBH of proper value לְאָשָׁ֖ם SDBH as a guilt offering אֶל־ to הַכֹּהֵ֑ן SDBH the priest וְכִפֶּר֩ SDBH will make atonement עָלָ֨יו on his behalf הַכֹּהֵ֜ן SDBH Then the priest עַ֣ל for שִׁגְגָת֧וֹ SDBH the wrong אֲשֶׁר־ SDBH - שָׁגָ֛ג SDBH he has committed וְה֥וּא SDBH . . . לֹֽא־ SDBH in ignorance יָדַ֖ע SDBH . . . וְנִסְלַ֥ח SDBH and he will be forgiven לֽוֹ׃

And he shall bring a ram tamim out of the flock, with thy estimation, for an asham (trespass offering) unto the kohen; and the kohen shall make kapporah for him concerning his ignorance wherein he erred and knew it not and it shall be forgiven him.

19

אָשָׁ֖ם SDBH is a guilt offering ה֑וּא SDBH It אָשֹׁ֥ם SDBH he was certainly guilty אָשַׁ֖ם SDBH . . . לַיהוָֽה׃פ SDBH Hashem/Adonoi

It is an asham (trespass offering); he hath certainly trespassed against Hashem. [SEE ISAIAH 53:10 ON MOSHIACH'S ASHAM OFFERING FOR ISRAEL-ISAIAH 53:8]. [TZAV]
