Hoshea 5 — Hebrew–OJB Interlinear

שִׁמְעוּ־ SDBH Hear זֹ֨את SDBH this הַכֹּהֲנִ֜ים SDBH O priests וְהַקְשִׁ֣יבוּ׀ SDBH Take heed בֵּ֣ית SDBH O house יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל SDBH of Israel וּבֵ֤ית SDBH house הַמֶּ֙לֶךְ֙ SDBH O royal הַאֲזִ֔ינוּ SDBH Give ear כִּ֥י For לָכֶ֖ם is against you הַמִּשְׁפָּ֑ט SDBH this judgment כִּֽי־ because פַח֙ SDBH a snare הֱיִיתֶ֣ם you have been לְמִצְפָּ֔ה SDBH at Mizpah וְרֶ֖שֶׁת SDBH a net פְּרוּשָׂ֥ה SDBH spread out עַל־ on תָּבֽוֹר׃ SDBH Tabor

Hear ye this, O kohanim; and pay heed, ye Bais Yisroel; and give ye ear, O Bais HaMelech; for hamishpat (the judgment) is against you, because ye have been a pach (snare, bird trap) at Mitzpah, and a reshet (net) spread upon Tavor.

וְשַׁחֲטָ֥ה SDBH in slaughter שֵׂטִ֖ים SDBH The rebels הֶעְמִ֑יקוּ SDBH are deep וַאֲנִ֖י SDBH but I מוּסָ֥ר SDBH will chastise them לְכֻלָּֽם׃ all

And the revolters have deepened their slaughter, and I will be musar (punishment; see regarding Moshiach, Isa.53:5) of them all.

אֲנִי֙ SDBH I יָדַ֣עְתִּי SDBH know all about אֶפְרַ֔יִם SDBH Ephraim וְיִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל SDBH and Israel לֹֽא־ SDBH is not נִכְחַ֣ד SDBH hidden מִמֶּ֑נִּי from Me כִּ֤י For עַתָּה֙ SDBH now הִזְנֵ֣יתָ SDBH you have turned to prostitution אֶפְרַ֔יִם SDBH O Ephraim נִטְמָ֖א SDBH is defiled יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ SDBH Israel

I know Ephrayim, and Yisroel is not hid from Me; for now, O Ephrayim, thou committest whoredom, and Yisroel is tameh (unclean, defiled).

לֹ֤א SDBH do not יִתְּנוּ֙ permit them מַ֣עַלְלֵיהֶ֔ם SDBH Their deeds לָשׁ֖וּב SDBH to return אֶל־ to אֱלֹֽהֵיהֶ֑ם SDBH their G-d כִּ֣י for ר֤וּחַ SDBH a spirit זְנוּנִים֙ SDBH of prostitution בְּקִרְבָּ֔ם SDBH is within them וְאֶת־ SDBH - יְהוָ֖ה SDBH Hashem/Adonoi לֹ֥א SDBH and they do not יָדָֽעוּ׃ SDBH know

Their doings do not permit them to turn unto Eloheihem; for the ruach zenunim is in the midst of them, and they have not known Hashem.

וְעָנָ֥ה SDBH testifies גְאֽוֹן־ SDBH arrogance יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל SDBH Israel’s בְּפָנָ֑יו against them וְיִשְׂרָאֵ֣ל SDBH Israel וְאֶפְרַ֗יִם SDBH and Ephraim יִכָּֽשְׁלוּ֙ SDBH stumble בַּעֲוֺנָ֔ם SDBH in their iniquity כָּשַׁ֥ל SDBH stumbles גַּם־ SDBH even יְהוּדָ֖ה SDBH Judah עִמָּֽם׃ with them

And the ga'on Yisroel (pride of Yisroel) doth testify to his face; therefore shall Yisroel and Ephrayim stumble and fall in their avon (iniquity); Yehudah also shall fall with them.

בְּצֹאנָ֣ם SDBH with their flocks וּבִבְקָרָ֗ם SDBH and herds יֵֽלְכ֛וּ SDBH They go לְבַקֵּ֥שׁ SDBH to seek אֶת־ SDBH - יְהוָ֖ה SDBH Hashem/Adonoi וְלֹ֣א SDBH but they do not יִמְצָ֑אוּ SDBH find Him חָלַ֖ץ SDBH He has withdrawn Himself מֵהֶֽם׃ from them

They shall go with their flocks and with their herds to seek Hashem; but they shall not find Him; He hath withdrawn Himself from them.

בַּיהוָ֣ה SDBH Hashem/Adonoi בָּגָ֔דוּ SDBH They have been unfaithful כִּֽי־ for בָנִ֥ים SDBH children זָרִ֖ים SDBH illegitimate יָלָ֑דוּ SDBH they have borne עַתָּ֛ה SDBH Now יֹאכְלֵ֥ם SDBH will devour them חֹ֖דֶשׁ SDBH the New Moon אֶת־ SDBH . . . חֶלְקֵיהֶֽם׃ס SDBH along with their land

They have dealt treacherously against Hashem; for they have begotten banim zarim (strange, illegitimate children); now shall a [Rosh] Chodesh devour them with their fields.

תִּקְע֤וּ SDBH Blow שׁוֹפָר֙ SDBH the ram’s horn בַּגִּבְעָ֔ה SDBH in Gibeah חֲצֹצְרָ֖ה SDBH the trumpet בָּרָמָ֑ה SDBH in Ramah הָרִ֙יעוּ֙ SDBH raise the battle cry בֵּ֣ית SDBH vvv אָ֔וֶן SDBH in Beth-aven אַחֲרֶ֖יךָ SDBH Lead on בִּנְיָמִֽין׃ SDBH O Benjamin

Blow ye the shofar in Giveah, and the trumpet in Ramah; cry aloud at BeitAven; after thee, O Binyamin!

אֶפְרַ֙יִם֙ SDBH Ephraim לְשַׁמָּ֣ה SDBH laid waste תִֽהְיֶ֔ה will be בְּי֖וֹם SDBH on the day תּֽוֹכֵחָ֑ה SDBH of rebuke בְּשִׁבְטֵי֙ SDBH Among the tribes יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל SDBH of Israel הוֹדַ֖עְתִּי SDBH I proclaim נֶאֱמָנָֽה׃ SDBH what is certain

Ephrayim shall be desolate in the Yom Tokheichah (Day of Rebuke): among the Shivtei Yisroel have I made known that which is certain.

הָיוּ֙ are like those שָׂרֵ֣י SDBH The princes יְהוּדָ֔ה SDBH of Judah כְּמַסִּיגֵ֖י SDBH who move גְּב֑וּל SDBH boundary stones עֲלֵיהֶ֕ם upon them אֶשְׁפּ֥וֹךְ SDBH I will pour out כַּמַּ֖יִם SDBH like water עֶבְרָתִֽי׃ SDBH My fury

The sarim (princes) of Yehudah were like them that remove the gevul (boundary stone); therefore I will pour out My wrath upon them like mayim.

עָשׁ֥וּק SDBH is oppressed אֶפְרַ֖יִם SDBH Ephraim רְצ֣וּץ SDBH crushed מִשְׁפָּ֑ט SDBH in judgment כִּ֣י for הוֹאִ֔יל SDBH he is determined הָלַ֖ךְ SDBH to follow אַחֲרֵי־ SDBH . . . צָֽו׃ SDBH worthless idols

Ephrayim is oppressed and crushed in mishpat (judgment), because he willingly walked after tzav (human statute [Isa 28:10,13]).

וַאֲנִ֥י SDBH So I am כָעָ֖שׁ SDBH like a moth לְאֶפְרָ֑יִם SDBH to Ephraim וְכָרָקָ֖ב SDBH and like decay לְבֵ֥ית SDBH to the house יְהוּדָֽה׃ SDBH of Judah

Therefore will I be unto Ephrayim like maggots, and to the Bais Yehudah like rottenness.

וַיַּ֨רְא SDBH saw אֶפְרַ֜יִם SDBH When Ephraim אֶת־ SDBH - חָלְי֗וֹ SDBH his sickness וִֽיהוּדָה֙ SDBH and Judah אֶת־ SDBH - מְזֹר֔וֹ SDBH his wound וַיֵּ֤לֶךְ SDBH turned אֶפְרַ֙יִם֙ SDBH then Ephraim אֶל־ to אַשּׁ֔וּר SDBH Assyria וַיִּשְׁלַ֖ח SDBH and sent אֶל־ to מֶ֣לֶךְ SDBH king יָרֵ֑ב SDBH the great וְה֗וּא SDBH But he לֹ֤א SDBH cannot יוּכַל֙ SDBH . . . לִרְפֹּ֣א SDBH cure לָכֶ֔ם you וְלֹֽא־ SDBH [or] יִגְהֶ֥ה SDBH heal מִכֶּ֖ם . . . מָזֽוֹר׃ SDBH your wound

When Ephrayim saw his sickness, and Yehudah saw his sores, then went Ephrayim to the Assyrian, and sent to the great king; yet he was not able to heal you, nor cure you of your wound.

כִּ֣י For אָנֹכִ֤י SDBH I כַשַּׁ֙חַל֙ SDBH am like a lion לְאֶפְרַ֔יִם SDBH to Ephraim וְכַכְּפִ֖יר SDBH and like a young lion לְבֵ֣ית SDBH to the house יְהוּדָ֑ה SDBH of Judah אֲנִ֨י SDBH I אֲנִ֤י SDBH [even] I אֶטְרֹף֙ SDBH will tear them to pieces וְאֵלֵ֔ךְ SDBH and then go away אֶשָּׂ֖א SDBH I will carry them off וְאֵ֥ין SDBH [where] no one מַצִּֽיל׃ SDBH can rescue them

For I will be unto Ephrayim like a lion, and as a great lion to the Bais Yehudah; I, even I, will tear and go away; I will carry off, and there will be no one rescuing.

15

אֵלֵ֤ךְ SDBH Then I will return אָשׁ֙וּבָה֙ SDBH . . . אֶל־ to מְקוֹמִ֔י SDBH My place עַ֥ד SDBH until אֲשֶֽׁר־ SDBH - יֶאְשְׁמ֖וּ SDBH they admit their guilt וּבִקְשׁ֣וּ SDBH and seek פָנָ֑י My face בַּצַּ֥ר SDBH in their affliction לָהֶ֖ם . . . יְשַׁחֲרֻֽנְנִי׃ SDBH they will earnestly seek Me

I will go and return to My place, till they acknowledge their guilt, and seek My face; in their tzar (affliction, distress) they will beg My favor.
