Amos 4 — Hebrew–OJB Interlinear

שִׁמְע֞וּ SDBH Hear הַדָּבָ֣ר SDBH word הַזֶּ֗ה SDBH this פָּר֤וֹת SDBH you cows הַבָּשָׁן֙ SDBH of Bashan אֲשֶׁר֙ SDBH - בְּהַ֣ר SDBH on Mount שֹֽׁמְר֔וֹן SDBH Samaria הָעֹשְׁק֣וֹת SDBH you women who oppress דַּלִּ֔ים SDBH the poor הָרֹצְצ֖וֹת SDBH and crush אֶבְיוֹנִ֑ים SDBH the needy הָאֹמְרֹ֥ת SDBH who say לַאֲדֹֽנֵיהֶ֖ם SDBH to your husbands הָבִ֥יאָה SDBH Bring us וְנִשְׁתֶּֽה׃ SDBH more to drink

Hear this word, ye cows of Bashan, that are on Mt Shomron, which oppress the poor, which crush the needy, which say to their adonim, Bring, and let us drink.

נִשְׁבַּ֨ע SDBH has sworn אֲדֹנָ֤י SDBH The Lord יְהוִה֙ SDBH G-D בְּקָדְשׁ֔וֹ SDBH by His holiness כִּ֛י . . . הִנֵּ֥ה Behold יָמִ֖ים SDBH the days בָּאִ֣ים SDBH are coming עֲלֵיכֶ֑ם . . . וְנִשָּׂ֤א SDBH when you will be taken away אֶתְכֶם֙ SDBH - בְּצִנּ֔וֹת SDBH with hooks וְאַחֲרִיתְכֶ֖ן SDBH and your posterity בְּסִיר֥וֹת SDBH with דּוּגָֽה׃ SDBH fishhooks

Adonoi Hashem hath sworn by His Kodesh, that, hinei, the yamim shall come upon you, that He will take you away with hooks, and the last of you with fishhooks.

וּפְרָצִ֥ים SDBH [through] broken [walls] תֵּצֶ֖אנָה SDBH You will go out אִשָּׁ֣ה SDBH each one נֶגְדָּ֑הּ straight ahead of her וְהִשְׁלַכְתֶּ֥נָה SDBH and you will be cast out הַהַרְמ֖וֹנָה SDBH toward Harmon נְאֻם־ SDBH declares יְהוָֽה׃ SDBH Hashem/Adonoi

And ye shall go out of the breaks in the wall, every cow right behind the next; and ye shall be cast out toward Harmonah, saith Hashem.

בֹּ֤אוּ SDBH Go בֵֽית־ SDBH vvv אֵל֙ SDBH to Bethel וּפִשְׁע֔וּ SDBH and transgress הַגִּלְגָּ֖ל SDBH at Gilgal הַרְבּ֣וּ even more לִפְשֹׁ֑עַ SDBH rebel וְהָבִ֤יאוּ SDBH Bring לַבֹּ֙קֶר֙ SDBH every morning זִבְחֵיכֶ֔ם SDBH your sacrifices לִשְׁלֹ֥שֶׁת SDBH every three יָמִ֖ים SDBH days מַעְשְׂרֹֽתֵיכֶֽם׃ SDBH your tithes

Come to Beit-El, and transgress; at Gilgal multiply peysha'im; and bring your zevakhim every boker, and your ma'asrot (tithes) every third day;

וְקַטֵּ֤ר SDBH Offer מֵֽחָמֵץ֙ SDBH leavened bread תּוֹדָ֔ה SDBH as a thank offering וְקִרְא֥וּ SDBH and loudly נְדָב֖וֹת SDBH your freewill offerings הַשְׁמִ֑יעוּ SDBH proclaim כִּ֣י For כֵ֤ן SDBH that is what אֲהַבְתֶּם֙ SDBH love to do בְּנֵ֣י SDBH [you] children יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל SDBH of Israel נְאֻ֖ם SDBH declares אֲדֹנָ֥י SDBH the Lord יְהוִֽה׃ SDBH Hashem/Adonoi

And offer a todah thank offering with chametz (leavened bread), and proclaim and publish the nedavot (freewill offerings); for this ye love, O Bnei Yisroel, saith Adonoi Hashem.

וְגַם־ SDBH - אֲנִי֩ SDBH I נָתַ֨תִּי beset לָכֶ֜ם vvv נִקְי֤וֹן SDBH with cleanness שִׁנַּ֙יִם֙ SDBH of teeth בְּכָל־ all עָ֣רֵיכֶ֔ם SDBH your cities וְחֹ֣סֶר SDBH with lack לֶ֔חֶם SDBH of bread בְּכֹ֖ל and all מְקוֹמֹֽתֵיכֶ֑ם SDBH your towns וְלֹֽא־ SDBH yet you did not שַׁבְתֶּ֥ם SDBH return עָדַ֖י SDBH to Me נְאֻם־ SDBH declares יְהוָֽה׃ SDBH Hashem/Adonoi

And I also have given you cleanness of teeth [i.e., famine] in all your towns, and want of lechem in all your places; yet have ye not returned unto Me, saith Hashem.

וְגַ֣ם SDBH also אָנֹכִי֩ SDBH I מָנַ֨עְתִּי SDBH withheld מִכֶּ֜ם from you אֶת־ SDBH - הַגֶּ֗שֶׁם SDBH the rain בְּע֨וֹד away שְׁלֹשָׁ֤ה SDBH three חֳדָשִׁים֙ SDBH months לַקָּצִ֔יר SDBH when the harvest was וְהִמְטַרְתִּי֙ SDBH I sent rain עַל־ on עִ֣יר SDBH city אֶחָ֔ת SDBH one וְעַל־ from עִ֥יר SDBH . . . אַחַ֖ת SDBH another לֹ֣א SDBH but withheld אַמְטִ֑יר SDBH [it] חֶלְקָ֤ה SDBH field אַחַת֙ SDBH One תִּמָּטֵ֔ר SDBH received rain וְחֶלְקָ֛ה SDBH another אֲשֶֽׁר־ SDBH - לֹֽא־ SDBH without תַמְטִ֥יר SDBH rain עָלֶ֖יהָ . . . תִּיבָֽשׁ׃ SDBH withered

And also I have withheld the geshem from you, when there were yet shloshah chodashim to the harvest; and I caused it to rain upon one town, and caused it not to rain upon another town; one chelek (part) was rained upon, and the chelek, whereupon it rained not, withered.

וְנָע֡וּ SDBH People staggered שְׁתַּיִם֩ SDBH vvv שָׁלֹ֨שׁ SDBH vvv עָרִ֜ים SDBH from city אֶל־ to עִ֥יר SDBH city אַחַ֛ת SDBH vvv לִשְׁתּ֥וֹת SDBH to drink מַ֖יִם SDBH for water וְלֹ֣א SDBH but they were not יִשְׂבָּ֑עוּ SDBH satisfied וְלֹֽא־ SDBH yet you did not שַׁבְתֶּ֥ם SDBH return עָדַ֖י SDBH to Me נְאֻם־ SDBH declares יְהוָֽה׃ SDBH Hashem/Adonoi

So two or three towns wandered unto one town, to drink mayim; but they were not satisfied; yet have ye not returned unto Me, saith Hashem.

הִכֵּ֣יתִי SDBH I struck אֶתְכֶם֮ SDBH - בַּשִּׁדָּפ֣וֹן SDBH you with blight וּבַיֵּרָקוֹן֒ SDBH and mildew הַרְבּ֨וֹת in your growing גַּנּוֹתֵיכֶ֧ם SDBH gardens וְכַרְמֵיכֶ֛ם SDBH and vineyards וּתְאֵנֵיכֶ֥ם SDBH your fig וְזֵיתֵיכֶ֖ם SDBH and olive trees יֹאכַ֣ל SDBH devoured הַגָּזָ֑ם SDBH the locust וְלֹֽא־ SDBH yet you did not שַׁבְתֶּ֥ם SDBH return עָדַ֖י SDBH to Me נְאֻם־ SDBH declares יְהוָֽה׃ס SDBH Hashem/Adonoi

I have struck you with blight and mildew; when your ganim (gardens) and your kramim (vineyards) and your fig trees and your olive trees increased, the locust devoured them; yet have ye not returned unto Me, saith Hashem.

שִׁלַּ֨חְתִּי SDBH I sent בָכֶ֥ם among you דֶּ֙בֶר֙ SDBH plagues בְּדֶ֣רֶךְ SDBH like those מִצְרַ֔יִם SDBH of Egypt הָרַ֤גְתִּי SDBH I killed בַחֶ֙רֶב֙ SDBH with the sword בַּח֣וּרֵיכֶ֔ם SDBH your young men עִ֖ם along with שְׁבִ֣י SDBH your captured סֽוּסֵיכֶ֑ם SDBH horses וָאַעֲלֶ֞ה SDBH I filled בְּאֹ֤שׁ SDBH with the stench מַחֲנֵיכֶם֙ SDBH of your camp וּֽבְאַפְּכֶ֔ם SDBH your nostrils וְלֹֽא־ SDBH yet you did not שַׁבְתֶּ֥ם SDBH return עָדַ֖י SDBH to Me נְאֻם־ SDBH declares יְהוָֽה׃ SDBH Hashem/Adonoi

I have sent among you the dever after the manner of Mitzrayim; your bocherim have I slain with the cherev, and have taken away your susim; and I have made the stench of your machanot to come up unto your nostrils; yet have ye not returned unto Me, saith Hashem.

הָפַ֣כְתִּי SDBH Some of you I overthrew בָכֶ֗ם כְּמַהְפֵּכַ֤ת SDBH as I overthrew אֱלֹהִים֙ SDBH . . . אֶת־ SDBH - סְדֹ֣ם SDBH Sodom וְאֶת־ SDBH - עֲמֹרָ֔ה SDBH and Gomorrah וַתִּהְי֕וּ and you were כְּא֖וּד SDBH like a firebrand מֻצָּ֣ל SDBH snatched מִשְׂרֵפָ֑ה SDBH from a blaze וְלֹֽא־ SDBH yet you did not שַׁבְתֶּ֥ם SDBH return עָדַ֖י SDBH to Me נְאֻם־ SDBH declares יְהוָֽה׃ס SDBH Hashem/Adonoi

I have overthrown some of you, as Elohim overthrew Sodom and Amora (Gomorrah), and ye were like a firebrand snatched from the burning; yet have ye not returned unto Me, saith Hashem.

לָכֵ֕ן SDBH Therefore כֹּ֥ה that is what אֶעֱשֶׂה־ SDBH I will do לְּךָ֖ to you יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל SDBH O Israel עֵ֚קֶב SDBH and since כִּֽי־ . . . זֹ֣את SDBH this אֶֽעֱשֶׂה־ SDBH I will do לָּ֔ךְ to you הִכּ֥וֹן SDBH prepare לִקְרַאת־ SDBH to meet אֱלֹהֶ֖יךָ SDBH your G-d יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ SDBH O Israel

Therefore thus will I do unto thee, O Yisroel; and because I will do this unto thee, prepare to meet Eloheicha, O Yisroel.

כִּ֡י For הִנֵּה֩ behold יוֹצֵ֨ר SDBH He who forms הָרִ֜ים SDBH the mountains וּבֹרֵ֣א SDBH who creates ר֗וּחַ SDBH the wind וּמַגִּ֤יד SDBH and reveals לְאָדָם֙ SDBH to man מַה־ SDBH - שֵּׂח֔וֹ SDBH His thoughts עֹשֵׂ֥ה SDBH who turns שַׁ֙חַר֙ SDBH the dawn עֵיפָ֔ה SDBH to darkness וְדֹרֵ֖ךְ SDBH and strides עַל־ on בָּ֣מֳתֵי SDBH the heights אָ֑רֶץ SDBH of the earth יְהוָ֥ה SDBH Hashem/Adonoi אֱלֹהֵֽי־ SDBH the G-d צְבָא֖וֹת SDBH of Hosts שְׁמֽוֹ׃ס SDBH is His name

For, hinei, He that formeth the harim, and createth the ruach, and declareth unto man what is his thought, that maketh the shachar darkness, and treadeth upon the high places of the earth, Hashem Elohei Tzva'os Shmo.
