Sacrifice
= action by which humans offer an animal without blemish to a deity, whereby the animal is slaughtered, its fat is burned on the altar, part of the meat is given to the officiating priest, and the rest of the meat is eaten by the person bringing the sacrifice; out of thankfulness, as a freewill offering, or when fulfilling a vow; associated with joy and well-being
