Hoshea 1 — Hebrew–OJB Interlinear

דְּבַר־ SDBH [This is] the word יְהוָ֣ה׀ SDBH Hashem/Adonoi אֲשֶׁ֣ר SDBH that הָיָ֗ה came אֶל־ to הוֹשֵׁ֙עַ֙ SDBH Hosea בֶּן־ SDBH son בְּאֵרִ֔י SDBH of Beeri בִּימֵ֨י SDBH in the days עֻזִּיָּ֥ה SDBH of Uzziah יוֹתָ֛ם SDBH Jotham אָחָ֥ז SDBH Ahaz יְחִזְקִיָּ֖ה SDBH and Hezekiah מַלְכֵ֣י SDBH kings יְהוּדָ֑ה SDBH of Judah וּבִימֵ֛י SDBH and [of] יָרָבְעָ֥ם SDBH Jeroboam בֶּן־ SDBH son יוֹאָ֖שׁ SDBH of Jehoash מֶ֥לֶךְ SDBH king יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ SDBH of Israel

The Devar Hashem that came unto Hoshea, ben Be'eri, in the yamim of Uziyah, Yotam, Achaz, and Yechizkiyah, melachim of Yehudah, and in the yamim of Yarov`am ben Yoash, Melech Yisroel.

תְּחִלַּ֥ת SDBH first דִּבֶּר־ SDBH spoke יְהוָ֖ה SDBH Hashem/Adonoi בְּהוֹשֵׁ֑עַ פ SDBH through Hosea וַיֹּ֨אמֶר SDBH told יְהוָ֜ה SDBH Hashem/Adonoi אֶל־ . . . הוֹשֵׁ֗עַ SDBH him לֵ֣ךְ SDBH Go קַח־ SDBH take לְךָ֞ as your אֵ֤שֶׁת SDBH wife זְנוּנִים֙ SDBH a prostitute וְיַלְדֵ֣י SDBH and have children זְנוּנִ֔ים SDBH of adultery כִּֽי־ because זָנֹ֤ה SDBH is flagrantly prostituting itself תִזְנֶה֙ SDBH . . . הָאָ֔רֶץ SDBH this land מֵֽאַחֲרֵ֖י SDBH [by departing] from יְהוָֽה׃ SDBH Hashem/Adonoi

The beginning of the Devar Hashem by Hoshea: And Hashem said to Hoshea, Go, take unto thee an eshet zenunim (wife of whoredoms) and yeladim of zenunim; for ha'aretz hath committed great whoredom, by departing from Hashem.

וַיֵּ֙לֶךְ֙ SDBH So [Hosea] went וַיִּקַּ֔ח SDBH and married אֶת־ SDBH - גֹּ֖מֶר SDBH Gomer בַּת־ SDBH daughter דִּבְלָ֑יִם SDBH of Diblaim וַתַּ֥הַר SDBH and she conceived וַתֵּֽלֶד־ SDBH and bore ל֖וֹ him בֵּֽן׃ SDBH a son

So he went and took Gomer bat Divlayim; which conceived, and bore him ben.

וַיֹּ֤אמֶר SDBH said יְהוָה֙ SDBH Hashem/Adonoi אֵלָ֔יו to [Hosea] קְרָ֥א SDBH Name him שְׁמ֖וֹ SDBH . . . יִזְרְעֶ֑אל SDBH Jezreel כִּי־ for ע֣וֹד soon מְעַ֗ט SDBH . . . וּפָ֨קַדְתִּ֜י SDBH I will bring אֶת־ SDBH - דְּמֵ֤י SDBH the bloodshed יִזְרְעֶאל֙ SDBH of Jezreel עַל־ upon בֵּ֣ית SDBH the house יֵה֔וּא SDBH of Jehu וְהִ֨שְׁבַּתִּ֔י SDBH and I will put an end מַמְלְכ֖וּת SDBH to the kingdom בֵּ֥ית SDBH vvv יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ SDBH of Israel

And Hashem said unto him, Call shmo Yizre'el (G-d will sow); for yet a little while, and I will visit vengeance upon Bais Yehu for the demei Yizre'el (massacre at Yizre'el), and will cause to cease the Mamlechut Bais Yisroel [See 2Kg chp 9].

וְהָיָ֖ה And בַּיּ֣וֹם SDBH day הַה֑וּא SDBH on that וְשָֽׁבַרְתִּי֙ SDBH I will break אֶת־ SDBH - קֶ֣שֶׁת SDBH the bow יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל SDBH of Israel בְּעֵ֖מֶק SDBH in the Valley יִזְרְעֶֽאל׃ SDBH of Jezreel

And it shall come to pass on Yom Hahu, that I will break the keshet Yisroel (bow of Israel), in the Emek Yizre'el (Jezreel Valley).

וַתַּ֤הַר SDBH conceived עוֹד֙ [Gomer] again וַתֵּ֣לֶד SDBH and gave birth to בַּ֔ת SDBH a daughter וַיֹּ֣אמֶר SDBH and [the LORD] said ל֔וֹ to [Hosea] קְרָ֥א SDBH Name שְׁמָ֖הּ SDBH her לֹ֣א SDBH vvv רֻחָ֑מָה SDBH Lo-ruhamah כִּי֩ for לֹ֨א SDBH I will no אוֹסִ֜יף SDBH longer ע֗וֹד . . . אֲרַחֵם֙ SDBH have compassion אֶת־ SDBH - בֵּ֣ית SDBH on the house יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל SDBH of Israel כִּֽי־ that נָשֹׂ֥א SDBH I should ever forgive אֶשָּׂ֖א SDBH . . . לָהֶֽם׃ them

And she conceived again, and bore a bat. And G-d said unto him, Call her shem Loruchamah (not pitied); for I will no more have pity upon Bais Yisroel; since I have been utterly betrayed by them [1K 2:10].

וְאֶת־ SDBH Yet בֵּ֤ית SDBH on the house יְהוּדָה֙ SDBH of Judah אֲרַחֵ֔ם SDBH I will have compassion וְהֽוֹשַׁעְתִּ֖ים SDBH and I will save them בַּיהוָ֣ה SDBH Hashem/Adonoi אֱלֹֽהֵיהֶ֑ם SDBH their G-d וְלֹ֣א SDBH not אֽוֹשִׁיעֵ֗ם SDBH - בְּקֶ֤שֶׁת SDBH by bow וּבְחֶ֙רֶב֙ SDBH or sword וּבְמִלְחָמָ֔ה SDBH or war בְּסוּסִ֖ים SDBH not by horses וּבְפָרָשִֽׁים׃ SDBH and cavalry

But I will have mercy upon the Bais Yehudah, and will save them by Hashem Eloheihem, and will not save them by keshet, nor by cherev, nor by milchamah, by susim, nor by parashim.

וַתִּגְמֹ֖ל SDBH After she had weaned אֶת־ SDBH - לֹ֣א SDBH vvv רֻחָ֑מָה SDBH Lo-ruhamah וַתַּ֖הַר SDBH [Gomer] conceived וַתֵּ֥לֶד SDBH and gave birth to בֵּֽן׃ SDBH a son

Now when she had weaned Lo-ruchamah, she conceived, and bore ben.

וַיֹּ֕אמֶר SDBH And [the LORD] said קְרָ֥א SDBH Name שְׁמ֖וֹ SDBH him לֹ֣א SDBH vvv עַמִּ֑י SDBH Lo-ammi כִּ֤י for אַתֶּם֙ SDBH you לֹ֣א SDBH are not עַמִּ֔י SDBH My people וְאָנֹכִ֖י SDBH and I לֹֽא־ SDBH am not אֶהְיֶ֥ה your G-d לָכֶֽם׃ס . . .

Then said G-d, Call shmo Lo-ami; for ye are lo ami (not My people), and to you (pl) not eh'h'yeh (I am, which is ALEFH HEH YOD HEH 1 common sg form of YOD HEH VAV HEH--HASHEM, i.e., to you I am not Hashem).

וְֽ֠הָיָה will be מִסְפַּ֤ר SDBH Yet the number בְּנֵֽי־ SDBH vvv יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ SDBH of the Israelites כְּח֣וֹל SDBH like the sand הַיָּ֔ם SDBH of the sea אֲשֶׁ֥ר SDBH which לֹֽא־ SDBH cannot יִמַּ֖ד SDBH be measured וְלֹ֣א SDBH [or] יִסָּפֵ֑ר SDBH counted וְֽ֠הָיָה And it will happen that בִּמְק֞וֹם SDBH in the [very] place אֲשֶׁר־ SDBH where יֵאָמֵ֤ר SDBH it was said לָהֶם֙ to them לֹֽא־ SDBH [are] not עַמִּ֣י SDBH My people אַתֶּ֔ם SDBH You יֵאָמֵ֥ר SDBH they will be called לָהֶ֖ם . . . בְּנֵ֥י SDBH sons אֵֽל־ SDBH G-d חָֽי׃ SDBH of the living

| Yet the number of the Bnei Yisroel shall be as the sand of the yam (sea), which cannot be measured nor numbered; and it shall come to pass, that in the place where it was said unto them, Ye are lo ami (not My people), there it shall be said unto them, Ye are the Bnei El Chai.

וְ֠נִקְבְּצוּ SDBH will be gathered בְּנֵֽי־ SDBH Then the people יְהוּדָ֤ה SDBH of Judah וּבְנֵֽי־ SDBH [and] יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ SDBH of Israel יַחְדָּ֔ו SDBH together וְשָׂמ֥וּ SDBH and they will appoint לָהֶ֛ם for themselves רֹ֥אשׁ SDBH leader אֶחָ֖ד SDBH one וְעָל֣וּ SDBH and will go up מִן־ out הָאָ֑רֶץ SDBH of the land כִּ֥י For גָד֖וֹל SDBH great [will be] י֥וֹם SDBH the day יִזְרְעֶֽאל׃ SDBH of Jezreel

Then shall the Bnei Yehudah and the Bnei Yisroel be gathered together, and appoint for them Rosh Echad [Moshiach; see Isa chp 11; Hoshea 3:5], and they shall come up out of ha'aretz; for gadol shall be the Yom Yizre'el (Day of Jezreel [G-d will sow]).
