THE L-RD IS MY ROCK (PSALM 18:2) In this Psalm the author (David) is referring to a "rock" as A) A famous insurance company? B) A famous wrestler? C) Alcatraz? D) Chris Rock? E) The anchor of his life? If you answered E to this question, you may continue. If your answer was A through D you BETTER continue! The word "Rock" conjures up images of strength, durability, reliability, stability, etc. But what does the Bible say about this expressive word? In the Torah a STONE is placed under Moses to support him while his arms are held up to insure a military victory. This rock (stone) connotes stability, of something immoveable. Yeshua says "Therefore whoever hears these sayings of mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house. And it did not fall, for it was founded on the ROCK." (Matt.7:24-25) The ROCK here means something indestructible. In the 16th chapter of Matthew, Yeshua asks His disciples "who do you say that I am?" Peter answered and said "You are the Moshiach, the Son of the Living G-d." Yeshua responded by telling Peter that this was a supernatural revelation: "And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this ROCK I will build my Kehillah, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail aginst it." Now we have a different meaning for ROCK. Here the rock is the absolute truth that Yeshua is the Moshiach. It is immutable. It will never change! Finally, water is a symbol of life throughout the Bible. So it is only natural that a ROCK provided water for the Israelites in the wilderness (Exodus 17:6). The ROCK gives life! It is G-d Himself! Friend, what is YOUR rock? What anchors your life? Is it immoveable? It is indestructible? Is it unchanging? Only G-d is all of the above. And more! But if your rock is not G-d, then you are adrift in a sea of changing values with no absolutes to hold on to. Receive Adoneinu Yeshua into your heart right now and ask Him to be your Moshia (Savior).
